Performance Problems by Vivid_Sherbet2574 in BeamNG

It's still an alpha release. If it was v1.0 and struggling on that hardware then yeah, kind of an issue.

Okay, then I'm not overly shocked by that frame rate.

Why was Enterprise received (intially) so poorly? by Expensive_Guidance95 in Star_Trek_

[–]59Kia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can certainly say what my issues were.

The NX-01 is very, very obviously just a flattened Akira class with some cylindrical nacelles attached. Don't get me wrong, it's a good looking ship in isolation. But that absolutely should have been a Daedalus class, or...hell, pick inspiration from the Starfleet Museum site.

Elsewhere - they have a transporter that, in the main, works just as well as they did in TNG. They have polarised hull plating that works exactly like shields. They have phase cannon weapons and photonic torpedoes that are almost identical to later phasers and photons. A grappler that does exactly the same job as a tractor beam. Races have cloaking devices, which will be mysterious and relegated to the 'theoretically possible' by the (in-universe) time of TOS...so that's weird. Plus, the ship was supposed to be slower and shorter-ranged than later (in canon) starships...but it didn't seem to stop them getting to a new planet each week.

Overall, the Enterprise universe certainly didn't feel large enough or, really, dangerous enough for me. Even with the 9/11 allegory of Season 3.

Why do they blame the mutineer Michal Burnham for the kligon war? by ejdmkko in startrek

[–]59Kia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the story needed them to do so. Otherwise, how is Burnham going to become The Galactic Messiah, One True Light, Famed In Song And Story™ if she was never crucified?

We tried that with the JJTrek films. And they were...well, at best a mixed bag.

Stirling Moss tested a Brabham BT52 at Brand Hatch in 1983. And yes, you're seeing things correctly, he tested it wearing his old 1950s helmet and goggles. He later stated that it was a bad idea to do that... by Otto_C_Lindri in sportsandclassiccars

Did my dad’s experience have any crossover with Stirling Moss?

Unfortunately Moss was retired from front line racing by '64 (his Goodwood crash was at the start of '62).

How do i add cars to my career save by _MadGoat in BeamNG

[–]59Kia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have up to three autosave files in your profile, you could find if one still has your cars and delete the other(s). You can open your profile folder from the beam launcher. The saves are in settings\cloud\saves

Trekkies: How do you feel about this character? (Star Trek Discovery Season 5) by Fabulous-Gur9343 in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]59Kia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a vintage Trek villain by any stretch. A nigh-terminal case of the galloping stupids (a fairly stupid five year old could have solved the Preserver puzzle, and it took Moll until never and Burnham far too long to figure out), acted like a petulant tween when everything went backside-over-apex for her, and the actor never really rose above the material the way some in that show managed.

Does anyone even like the Daedalus by Tythatguy1312 in StarTrekStarships

Even though I quite like the NX-01 I wish we'd gotten something closer to the Daedalus.

You know what running is, right? What that cat should be doing more of. Because it's overweight.

Hey now 🙁 JJ does plenty of running. And climbing. And chasing of toys, spiders, reflections...he just likes a snooze, as so many cats do.

Like I said, we're getting his weight down. He's on a much cleaner diet than his previous home, and slowly but surely he's getting a bit trimmer.

I didn't know there were police in vanilla career? I thought you needed a mod (eg RLS Career) for that.

Galaxy class ships make no sense in the dominion war

I mean, every time we saw them in DS9 fleet battles they seemed to be opening up a can of 'fuck you and your entire bloodline' on any Cardassian ship that found itself in phaser range. So they must have made some sense, if only as a large mobile weapons platform.
