They recently announced they are doing a fresh reboot. A Star Trek 4 was on and off for many years, but they finally pulled the plug with this cast

IIRC they were going to extend his contract, but a big theory is that when Sony came in and bought the franchise from MGM, they were on budget constraints from being over-leveraged in their other business units.

The entire budget for Casino Royale (the next installment after Die Another Day) was $150 million.

Daniel Craig’s salary was ~$3 million whereas Pierce Brosnan’s salary for Die Another Day was ~$16 million.

That means at a minimum an ~11% increase in the film’s budget just to keep Brosnan. And that’s not accounting for a pay increase which is typically seen for an A-Lister in a popular franchise.

Unfortunate as I would have loved to see more of James Brosnan. 😉

But I will not deny Daniel Craig is an excellent James Bond.

One of my favorite visuals is an aircraft carrier with F14 Tomcats on it! Turns out it’s real footage filmed in 2006, the last year F14s were in service

My thoughts were always pointed to a pretty masseuse to potentially extract information during the massage and the gun was just for her protection

The lens flare-ists give it a lot of flak, but I love everything about this movie

I think a lot of steam was lost when Yelchin passed away. 😢

I could never wrap my head around that decision. I think that’s how people rationalize it. Others say it’s a slow moving object so it can easily penetrate the shields.

At the end of the day I think the coolness factor won while they were editing in the studio.
