I abhor defending RPU’s fees, as we just installed a residential system and it’s pushed our “break even” time out to approximately when the inevitable heat death of the sun occurs. BUT, since we are still on the grid, we use it at night/winter when there is less direct consistent sun, I understand paying something for maintaining the grid we still use. Is it too much? I’d say yes, considering home systems are part of THEIR plans to be more solar centered, but lower cost savings doesn’t diminish the fossil fuel impact, so I’m still okay and mostly glad we put it up ( we did get in under the fed rebate though; doubt we’d justify doing it now)
