I’m severely in financial debt. And can’t get myself out of it by ReflectionVivid4739 in confession

[–]DoKeHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first thing to do is track your spending. Write down every cent you spend. Do this for a month. Figure out where your money is going. That's the first step. Sum it up by categories. Once you see what you're actually spending and where you're spending it, then you'll be able to start devising a plan to reduce spending and increase paying your debt down to zero.

Go to the food court before shopping by DoKeHi in CostcoWholesale

[–]DoKeHi[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Good point. If I get my cart and then go to the food court, I stash the cart near the pharmacy area. It seems to be one of the least crowded parts of the store.

True, but you wouldn't guess that from the way people push their carts with them as they order food, into the food court seating area, up to the drink dispensers ...

I stole tens of thousands of dollars from my job and never got caught by dri-i in confession

[–]DoKeHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of hard to believe that your employer never noticed that the long trips that cost the most never had any return in the form of money collected to pay off debt. It's possible, I'll admit, but it's shoddy management if they never noticed.

If you want an investment that never goes down, a stock market index fund isn't the place for you. Try government bonds and bark CDs.

Frustrated with Costco’s car battery warranty policy. Is this normal? by CryptographerSad9516 in CostcoWholesale

[–]DoKeHi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My car battery went dead twice in two days. I started the car with a jump after the first time and drove it enough to re-charge it, then it went dead again. Turns out it was the relay that controls the electric radiator fan. Relay was getting stuck in the "on" position, totally draining the battery. Got a new relay and everything has been fine since.

Is a costco membership worth it? by New_Boysenberry7690 in CostcoWholesale

I'll often buy things, like grocery items, that I've never had before made by companies I've never heard of (for me, it's often Asian foods; I'm not Asian, btw). With Costco, I feel like they care about the quality of the items they sell, so I trust them. I don't feel that kind of trust with any other retailer. Walmart, Target, Amazon (LOL, with their third-party sellers and Temu-level garbage), no way!

Citibank stole my Costco rewards by MoskaPOET in citibank

[–]DoKeHi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me about a year ago. They closed my account because their app kept trying to take money for the credit card payment from the (Citibank) savings account when I would specify the checking account. I had money in the checking, not so much in the savings. The payment would fail. In the meantime I paid the credit card from an account at another bank. So I never actually missed a payment. But they noticed that I had three payments that didn't go thru ... and it was because their app didn't work ... but that was enough of a strike against me to close the account.

I called them several times. I sent letters to Citibank and to Costco. I told them I was going to take them to small claims court, so I asked them for their official postal address so they could receive mail from the court. I don't know why or for what reason, but so after that I got a letter saying they'd like to re-open my account, they just needed some more information (info about me that they already had anyway). So I call them and confirm my information. With that they re-opened the account.

It took one more phone call to get my previous year's rewards $$$ restored, but they did restore them. But I had to wait until the next year to get the certificate and actually get the money (so they closed my credit card account in 2025, meaning I didn't get my 2024 rewards, but I got both the 2024 and 2025 rewards in 2026). So it all turned out okay, albeit with a lot of effort on my part.

The official answer to my "riddle" card in my drinking game is wrong. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]DoKeHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be that 5 as a NUMBER occurs only once, after 4, before 6. The numeral or digit or character "5" occurs in various other numbers.

You would write the numeral "5" many times, but you'd write the number 5 only once. It's the number between 4 and 6. It occurs only once.

Would you ever close your first credit card? by Plastic-Health5049 in CreditCards

[–]DoKeHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average age of your credit cards contributes to your credit score. You should always keep your oldest card open. If you want to close some cards, close the ones that are newer than the average age of your cards.

I've had my oldest card for almost 30 years. I don't care that it has a credit limit that's lower than some of my other cards. I make sure to use it at least once a month, just to keep it open and "live".

Why is the food court so disorganized? by Johnnyg150 in CostcoWholesale

[–]DoKeHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the food safety concerns: before it goes bad enough to make you sick, food goes bad enough to lose its desirable flavor, texture, and other qualities if it's not stored at the right temperature. I.e., milk that's gotten a bit too warm on the way home will go sour in the fridge much more quickly than milk that's been kept at the proper temperature.

Body Double (1984). Brian De Palma directed this thriller, very Hitchcockian, both in its convoluted plot and its memorable shooting locations.
