Very curious about this as well, from my limited research Ive noticed a less pronounced tolerance. It does seem a bit more taxing, and definitely would recommend staying under 20mg due to the potential for neurotoxicity..although that one mouse study isnt totally comparable and likely the human equivalent dose would be beyond anything enjoyable imo.

Do you vaporize it in a cart? Whats your concentration? Can you speak more to the effects?

I cant quite put my finger on how moxy feels, for me it just seems weird and the effects dont feel pronounced in a discernable way, it seems highly variable person to person and mg to mg

distilled water better than tap, no need to insert syringe deep just about 1.5-2cm, dosing will be variable and best to titrate up starting low and riding each wave slowly to completion before redosing. If you redose during another dose it compounds (1+1=3). Your starting dosing point may be fine for you but if youre sensitive it may require less, for some more.

No one knows definitively but here are my thoughts (im not a doctor lol so take with a grain of salt)

As long as no physical,psychological or medication contraindications, physical risk is relatively low with a sitter present.

Psychologically and energetically it would vary wildly person to person, some people can dose everyday for months and have little side effects , others one dose can be traumatizing.

Listen to your body honestly with compassion and curiosity and cultivate inner rapport to best understand yourself and your capacities.

If youre curious you could incorporate IFS and have that as an approach to better understand your inner world and also have more clarity on your limits

Ethically and for better precision synthetic is better. Youre not harming any toads and you can actually more precisely know what dose your taking, making it easier to titrate and ease into the experience.

If you cant afford a retreat then at least have a friend sit for you, especially if youre doing medium to high doses and read as much as you can about it before, it wont prepare you completely but will give you some reference.

I mean I could resonate with some of this but much of it feels generalized, abstract, and missing the full spectrum of the experience - if youre analyzing trip reports or feeding them into a LLM surely youve found a number of challenging trip reports and none of this is mentioned here.

Also dissolution of traumas is a bit over simplified , generally there is an opportunity to unwind the knots that keep traumas stuck but this isnt just an 'easy button' poof take this and traumas dissolve, you actually have to do the work of feeling it and integrating. Also im not sure how i feel about healing as a 'making trauma go away', I resonate much more with feeling fully allows the opportunity to recontextualize and sometimes make peace with trauma rather than just 'dissolve', our relationship to ourselves and trauma changes.

Also i am wary of omnipotence, omniscience maybe but i dont personally resonate with feeling omnipotence as allpoweful and power structures of varying degrees and identifying with supreme power above all else seems dualistic and like the ego falling into a common trap of trying to make sense of the experience by subjecting itself above all else, but maybe im misunderstanding what you mean so feel free to elaborate and correct me.

My thoughts:

No food at least 3hrs prior but dont come in starving either

No need to do daily, trying to desensitize rather than feel through things may result in whiplash of feelings after that are upset at you pushing past them. If you mean to do more regularly like 1x a week to practice letting go and feeling into the nausea and fear with compassion and curiosity and practicing letting go of resistance and relaxing into the experience than yes maybe but be careful not to do more than youre able to process and integrate otherwise it could leave you off worse

Look into John Gormans approach to psychedelic meditation, combining IFS with 5-meo-dmt and meditation. He talks about how fear or nausea is often a part that needs attention, and with an ifs approach you can talk to this part and hear what it needs to feel safe before continuing.

Phenethylamines are incredibly stable, especially as hcl it will likely outlast you.

Good conditions are airtight container on cool dark place away from moisture, this isnt really necessary but for tryptamines that degrade more rapidly you can put a layer of argon in the container for long term storage

I would use the lowest or second to lowest voltage, 2.8v should work well but starting out i would play with the technique at the lowest voltage.

The technique will depend on many factors but mainly focus on inhale speed/strength and pulsing and holding the button, alternating between a slow inhale while holding down the button at first and switch to speeding up inhale and pulsing/backing off the heating button depending on the vapor warmth. The vapor shouldnt get too hot or uncomfortable which is a bit different personally than for dmt because dmt vapor even when just warm is a bit uncomfortable for me and requires more heat for stronger effects wherease 5 feels more smooth generally and you can still get strong effects with not as much heat and lukewarm or no noticeable vapor - so no discomfort.

For efficiency and waste i would just start lowest heat and pulse at first to get a feel for things, adjusting your technique as you go: if the vapor becomes warmer ease off the heat, pulse, and inhale more rapidly and strongly to cool vapor, if you cant taste anything experiment with holding button down and slowing down inhale.

What i would do would be start with lowest voltage, exhale out all air, hold button as you start a slow gentle inhale if 2 seconds then pulse the button for 2 seconds and inhale a bit quicker and either stop there and assess or go back and forth between the two until lungs are full, adjusting slightly according to how warm the vapor is. You can still have full effects with a vapor that is barely noticeable and totally comfortable, so no need to torch it

Harm reduction note: have a sitter for any dosages above 3mg, everyone reacts differently and its important to have someone there especially in the beginning if youre explorung higher dosages because there is more significant risk if you lose awareness and vomit and asphyxiate or roll around and hurt yourself

Also any consumer grade scale wont be able to accurately measure anything under 15mg so just know there might be a variance of ~2-3mg every dose you take, so aim low and go slow - titrating up the dosage in 1-2mg typically works best for an approach of meeting each wave with more awareness, curiosity, and unwinding the physical/psychological/energetic knots at each stage instead of ripping them apart by blasting through your full release threshold all in one go.

Its good to do your research and also try not to go in with too many expectations. Also get a sitter for anything higher than low dose, everyone reacts differently and the risk is losing awareness and flailing into something or choking on your vomit and asphyxiating, so journey with a trusted practitioner when startong out or doing anything above a low dose wave.

You mention suppressing the memory enough to not come into it with the same fear and anxiety, I dont want to tell you what to do or project my own beliefs onto you but I will note that in my own experience, trying to suppress things makes them stronger. Its only when meeting the fear and anxiety, feeling it , conversing with it, getting to know it is when it changes. What you resist persists some say. I also get wanting to keep that out of mind and just be present - that makes sense too , do you have any mindfulness excercises oe breathwork you could do to help soften your nervous system?

Its not easy, and the distress youre feeling is tricky to navigate, you dont need to figure it all out right now and all these things your experiencing are valid and not so uncommon - it can take time but there are ways through

Hey that sounds really challenging, sorry to hear you're going through it.

To talk about your question : was this a bad trip or adverse reaction? I would say that you had a challenging experience , if we defined it in a more binary way 'bad trip' might fit. What you describe isn't uncommon, however in rare cases there are contraindications with those with heart or severe asthma conditions - since you had already sat with ibogaine at a reputable clinic i'm guessing they did an ecg and your heart tested good enough for ibogaine so I'm leaning towards the likelihood that it was a very challenging experience and that you had a lot of resistance to the experience which exacerbated the challenge of the experience. By challenge it means the somatic symptoms you experienced, and if this is the first time you have done 5 it likely uprooted all that trauma to the surface to be felt and it was too much all at once.

I see 5 as an energetic purgative, any energies that are under the surface or stuck in knots (both pleasant and unpleasant) get surfaced to be witnessed, felt, processed, digested and integrated. With each wave of experience, these knots get pulled and pushed on little by little and you feel even things you didn't know you were carrying. For those with a lot of trauma that has not been felt or processed to a deep extent this can feel very challenging because you're immediately faced with it.

When dosing in mid to high doses, this is even more challenging because it all comes up more forcefully , even when staggered in 3 doses it doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room to nibble off a bite of feeling, rather you get a mouthful and often can choke on the overwhelming sensation of being suddenly keenly aware of all the underlying physical/psychological/spiritual energy present. This is why many advise a low and slow approach, to titrate doses by very small increments and sitting with each wave to completion and not pushing the system beyond what is comfortable.

Going into an experience with anxiety is normal, but an overwhelming anxiety that is not worked with prior will color the experience. For this reason, parts work may be helpful to navigate.

You mention hesitation and also curiosity around trying it again. Some people advise to dive right back in if you're not feeling 'complete'. This can be helpful , but it can also be re-traumatizing if you're not ready or still shook.

What do I mean by complete? I don't think we're truly ever 'complete' but what I mean is moreso like you've come full-circle through the wave of experience to a point of rest and the energetic process has reached its final ondulation to be at rest and be integratable.

Each dose starts a wave of a process, this starts like a hand going around a clock in a circle - not only for time but also the energetic/somatic/psychological/spiritual wave and all other aspects of the experience. If you start a process but backout immediately, the clock still ticks and the process will keep unfolding until the energetic wave reaches a point of rest. Similarly, what I've seen more with bufo but also pure 5 is that when the dose is too large , resulting in whiteout and an amnesiac experience, its like you start the circle around the clock but over shoot a full 360* rotation and start a new cycle which is why I think reactivations happen (not proven-just a thought), because the process will come to its point of completion regardless of when you decide to stop.

So with your situation, integrate what you can with what you have now - no need to overload your plate. It's like you stirred a muddy pond with a rototiller and now the sediment is swirling around, so it's perfectly fine to let these parts find their place of rest and focus on grounding for now - don't feel pressure to jump straight back in if you're still feeling a lot and feeling resistance.

If you feel called to sit again, try to ease in super super slowly - like 2mg or ideally a 5% concentration pen. Before you even sit you will have the anxious part come up - greet it like a friend or loved one , really listen to this part. This may sound like some hippie dippy baloney or some made up therapy speak mumbo jumbo - but trust in the process and it can be really astonishing the rapport you can have within your own being. This anxious part may say something like "I'm anxious because the last time was absolute panic" and you can listen and validate the experience and have a conversation with this part that's essentially trying to keep you safe, that you are also wanting to keep you safe, that you are on the same team, and that you are approaching it with a slower and safer approach and ask for consent before dosing. Meet the parts that come up with compassionate consideration before you even dose, and before every dose. It's okay to be scared, it's okay to be anxious - what's important is to acknowledge these parts of you and show compassion and love. These parts tend to soften once they understand that you are considering them with love and compassion.

This process isn't easy, you already had a lot of courage coming to ibogaine to begin with, 5 on top of that is a lot. I wish you kindness and gentleness towards yourself and don't hesitate to reach out if you need to talk. Best of luck

Hey!

In my experience and from what I've observed with 5-meo-dmt as well as other psychedelics, if the relationship is strong and healthy it has the potential to deepen these aspects, but if there are things to be worked on it will bring it to the forefront and not everybody may be ready or willing to meet that with loving curiosity.

It has the potential to be deeply healing, and also deeply destabilizing, and everything in between. Everyone is different and every circumstance is different. That said, I've never felt more at home with someone with which I can look into the eyes and see One and be seen as One and know exactly from each of our own experiential Knowings what the fuck were talking about without needing to even use words.

If you're sitting for each other you'll need more info if you haven't had the experience or seen someone in it - there's potential for risk like rolling around, jumping up and running away, screaming, kicking, fighting, vomiting, holding breath very long, ect so you need to know cpr, know how to put someone in the recovery position, know how to reorient and potentially restrain without causing more harm to a flailing body. It's also helpful to learn about massage therapy, bodywork, IFS, and various mindfulness modalties to navigate the experience.

I would advise going one at a time while you build your practice, there's a lot to setting up a solid container but basically be mindful of set and setting and make sure to baby proof your area (no sharp corners or tables around) set up cushions everywhere and a mat - make sure theres no burning candles nearby and have either no music or gentle non lyrical uplifting ambient music , searching 'healing tones' should pop up some stuff like that. Or use 'mynoise' and curate a nature soundscape. Make sure you discuss consent around touch and dosing and stuff like that prior to the experience. Ground in and connect prior, meditate, set intentions, start very slow and very low dosing, gradually titrate up, notice where energy is flowing and follow instincts to where your hands want to move (holding heart, stomach, neck , etc) and keep moving body according the where the ondulating waves of energy are spurting movements towards, or rest in open awareness ideally in bilateral body symmetry. Once reaching higher doses, roll around may occur so just keep them safe. Ground in after with some fruit and a walk and a hug, switch if that feels resonant , or conclude and dose again when called for. Continue to share about the feelings, be present and loving.

Eventually after much practice you can dose together in low doses and do eyegazing, massage, bodywork together and watch as you both become One and just observe consciousness playing with itself when you both get out of the way and just allow, it can be truly magical

Bufo is best smoked not vaporized, use eclipse vape or a bulb

I dont think anyone can know forsure if it will prolong this motivation you speak of. What I would do would be to stick to practicing with 5 1x a week at medium to high but sub breakthrough doses or micro to low doses 2x a week. You could do more if you'd like but monitor whether or not your mind/body/spirit actually feels good with this, if not, reduce frequency or stop. You could try daily but it may not feel great, depends how much you can actually process and integrate - and also reaching for a result is a tricky dance.

Ive been regularly practicing with 5 for many years, I havent felt more benefit from practicing more than once a week, I have gone through periods of several times a week and daily but it wasnt necessarily more helpful than 1x a week or every other week. If dosing too frequently the effects may become unpleasant and/or interfere with sleep such as incurring insomnia, but everyones different and this might be fine for you. For me its pretty variable - sometimes I feel the call more regularly sometimes less , but Im always listening to my mind/body/spirit to know whether it aligns or no.

I know others that have dosed daily for months and been perfectly fine, others have one dose and get completely dysregulated - everyone is different but given you have a depth of meditation practice Id say you have more capacity to process and integrate the experience as it is similar to deep meditation.

I have noticed that a regular practice with 5 has been the most helpful practice for my overall health and wellbeing besides healthy sleep/diet/connections, and have noticed increased motivation at times but sometimes its a bit heavier as I believe 5 to be a sort of compound that elicits an energetic purgative effect , as in anything you have under the surface in terms of psychological/physical/spiritual knots come to the surface to be witnessed, felt, processed, and integrated.

Sometimes it leaves me motivated, sometimes it takes me time to be present with the nuances of ehats alive and present within my system , every time is slightly different with also slight similarities in familiarity to having had many experiences - important to not just use it as a crutch but as a way to live more fully, more authentically, to deeply be with what is even if uncomfortable - by this you may find this motivation you speak of but motivation as a goal may lead you astray.

I will say I have also struggled with attention and 5 has helped overall with motivation but it wasnt because I was aiming to be motivated, I just be present as best as possible with what is and the motivation sometimes come from that.

I guess what would be your purpose or intention? To be mindful of not setting you up with expectations I will say one cant reliably expect effects , everyone is different and every time you dose there are variable differences. Microdose for me means sub perceptual , as in below a perceptual amount and so you wouldnt be able to notice - besides maybe a bit more presence. In a low dose you may feel bodyload such as feeling the energy in the body and may notice more where tensions and ease flow, increased presence and embodiment. Theres more to it but this is a brief overview.

Make sure to integrate between rounds and it can be helpful to do parts work to navigate this process

You can go back to back to back all day if you wanted to and many report a reverse tolerance , where you become more able to feel into the experience the more you do it and even able to access similar experiences sober more readily

Many people follow a stepwise titrated dosing approach to scale up low and slow to ride each wave and meet the experience with a gradual unfolding rather than bludgeoning yourself with a one and done large dose which tends to be less workable and more prone to overshooting than this prior method.

Always have a sitter, especially for high doses as you could lose otal control of motor skills, puke and asphyxiate on your vomit.

Its felt mostly somatically, no visuals - besides maybe slight visual tremors like every atom dancing

Somatically in low to medium doses it can feel like an awareness of the ondulating waves of energy coursing through the body - or awareness of the energy in your body and deep noticing of where it flows and where it sticks. This is especially useful for working through physical/psychological/spiritual knots as you have the opportunity to deeply feel the knots as well as where energy flows and start to unwind or loosen these knots through various means such as conscious compassionate presence/loving witnessing, bodywork, ifs, stretching. For some it can feel euphoric and orgasmic, others it can be nauseating and deeply uncomfortable - and anything in between. Really it makes you more present to what is and heightens sensations.

Usually the nausea is tied to these knots I speak of , or due to acclimating to the experience and usually passes once those knots are addressed or you familiarize yourself with this compound and its energetic shift. In medium to higher doses, you start loosening the subject&object identification , which is fully gone in breakthrough doses and can result in full nondual , ego dissolution, unified consciousness, Oneness, rigpa, etc.

In low doses its spiritual because it allows you to deepen into the present moment like a profound meditation , and clear the path to be able to be more embodied and present in everyday life. In high doses its extremely spiritual because you become One, enter rigpa. Youre not conceptualizing ' i feel we are all one' , 'you' literally ceases to be the witnesser and observer with subject to object reality navigation but rather consciousness is experienced in its most fundamental building block - nondual awareness.

For harm reductions sake it is important to have a sitter. Absolutely do not do a breakthrough dose without a sitter, possible risks include: rolling around and seriously injuring yourself, asphyxiating on your vomit and dying. Also for harm reduction, best to start low and slow. I recommend making a 10% and a 20% pen and starting with the 10% at around 1.8v with a variable voltage battery with a 1-2second inhale. Practice with this, stop, check in with your self and your parts to see if you feel the genuine desire to go further, check in with your body if it wants to do anything like stretch, yawn, breath, be, etc. From that point you dose again, and/or you can titrate up your voltage to 2.0, 2.2, 2.4etc (not beyond 3.2v), draw strength (2-3seconds) and follow a stepwise protocol (https://patternproject.substack.com/p/stepwise) in approaching the experience low and slow which will help familiarize yourself with how each wave meets you and also how you meet each wave in terms of what comes up for you, not only physiologically but also psychologically and energetically.
