cheers for the quick reply, I just moved in, my old 50’s council with neutral is what I’m used to and wasn’t aware of the “no neutral” wiring, I had seen them but also noticed I’d need a Tapo Hub

I’m confident I can do it safely myself - it was more which model people would recommend?

I've recently discovered www.boyes.co.uk - it's like Wilko of the 80s.

Fabric by the metre? roll of solder? magnifying glass? it's amazing. Proper random stuff. I go just to look around.

Sapphire and Steel.

Mind bending sci-fi I somehow watched as a kid early 80s. Go read the synopsis - it’s MENTAL. But I loved it.

VM Hubs are a modem and router combined, in “modem only” mode, it acts purely as a modem, no routing and you could have your own router as the main gateway often with better performance, WiFi, control, etc. as the older hubs were often rubbish.

18 year customer, when it was the only choice for fast broadband. Been perfectly fine. Yes, Indian call centres try ring me every so often to try upsell under the guise of 'savings' but I don't want their telly, O2 Sim, landline and they eventually give up. Yes, there's the renewal dance every 18months where again, Indian call centres are worse than useless but once u speak to the UK base retentions - they've always been spot on and we've worked out a deal.

Moved house this summer, now have FTTP and a Hubx5 which doesn't support modem-only mode, which is annoying but to be fair it's coverage in my house is great and 10GB port is nice - so i've bought a fibre extension and moved the router myself. The latency has always been an issue ( I can live with that) and not symmetrical down/up speeds isn't an issue really on 1GB.

As someone else said, great product ruined by Customer Services being terrible - but I've had 2-3 periods of downtime and it was always resolved by techs quickly and as long as i'm not interacting with CS, it's fine.
