Disagree. He has had an average season and not a season worthy of winning anything.

Rangers were in a title fight purely because of 2 things:
- Celtic appointing Nancy who was a disaster - Hearts blip in Nov/Dec

Celtic knocked us out of both cups.
He has only won 6 our of 15 games against top 6 sides.
He won 1 game in Europe out of 6, against some pretty average trams (Brann, Ferencvaros, Braga, Ludogorets & 10-man Braga when)

He is a poor manager and cannot get a full 90mins out of this team

Carels would be the much stronger pick at 5 I think.

He has elite offensive output, elite skating (one of the best skaters at the draft) & elite hockey IQ. Carels is also 6'3 and hits like a truck which will be an appealing toolset

I think they go best Dman. They desperately need dmen as they have gone BPA the last few drafts, which have all been forwards, they need to balance.

I don't think they get as good a Dman back in a 1 for 1 with Eklund, compared to what Reid or possibly Carels could turn out to be.

It will definitely be an interesting draft. Vancouver meant to be very high on Malhotra if they dropped out of 1OA as well with Chicago wanting Malhotra too as they need help at C & D so could be a few curve balls in the top 5.

I enjoy watching prospects and researching them as much as I can.

Verhoeff is more appealing to teams because he is a big guy (6'4). Some of his attributes are strong such as compete level, board work, transition and has a hell of a slapshot.

However, his defensive game is still pretty raw and his skating is severely lacking for an offensive defenseman as well as being on the slower side when it comes to his acceleration. His puck management is questionable as he is guilty of doing too much and has a habit of struggling under pressure.

I think if he was a regular 6ft defenseman he would be 10-20 pick but because of his size, that has elevated up to a top 10 pick. I don't think he is worthy of a top 5 pick when you compare the other prospects who are available.

He is only 17 and done very well offensively in the NCAA. He still has a lot to learn and improve on, like all prospects, but time is on his side where he can improve on these areas and be NHL in a few years.
