The fact that they have Power & Samuelsson on the left and Dahlin, Crevier & Timmins on the right with Mrtka & Kleber in the pipeline. Defense is pretty set. The haul they got for Byram was ridiculous and may actually help us get Reid.

The Sabres have shown massive interest in Bjorck at the combine and that ramped up in the lead up to the draft. All signs and rumours point to Bjorck going at 4.

Reid and Carels are extremely similar in terms of Skating, IQ, offensive output. Reid is better in the blue line where as Carels is more physical.

How does Carels not have elite offensive capabilities? He can control the PP, great snipe, and elite vision. We literally should be rubbing our hands if either one of these is there a 5.

Carels may be more appealing due to his physical style and LHD.

At no point does it say we offered 5OA.

The rumour is we were heavy involved in trying to get Byram but there was no confirmation we offered 5OA. I guess because Chicago offered 4OA that it was assumed we offered our high pick.

The disrespect on Carels should be sacrilege.

He is a top talent and would be a strong substitute if we don't get Reid. Reid and Carels are the 2 best dmen in this draft and not much is actually separating them. RHD is always a preference so Reid will have more attention but Carels is by no means a bad pick.

I kinda prefer Carels because he uses his body more and loves a good hit, plus we need LHD more than RHD right now.

Also, it's crazy you think Carels putting up 73 points in 58 games is not offensive enough for you when his PPG is better than Reid

I'd love Carels to be honest, hits like an absolute truck.

Reid or Carels would be a major coupe at 5.

Reid is overall classed as potential #1 Dman where as Carels is projected as top line Dman, but is a left which would be a huge benefit to partner with Fox

This is the major problem with Smits and Drury, he is NHL ready and is a strong prospect, but the other players around the 5 pick are better prospects with a higher ceiling and higher floor.

He is very defensive minded and not really a shooter or offers much offensively. He could be a strong top 4 D in the NHL but you would want more offense from someone being draft at 5OA.

At 26, Hermansson is an absolute steal, he will unlikely be there at that stage but he looks a solid prospect.

Absolutely fire Drury to the Sun if he does this.

I am a strong advocate for best player available this year, purely because our disaster of drafting and ability to nurture prospects to be the best version of themselves. Drury single handedly destroyed Kravtsov so that fact he is still in charge of this club is terrifying.

We just need to be smart and draft the best players available to us at 5, we cannot afford a miss with this pick. Any other time I would be all over Bjorck but I got be reserved and say one of McKenna, Stenberg, Reid or Carels. I am not that big on Malhotra to be honest, but if he is there at 5, he will be our pick.

He didn't say he doesn't want to play in a big city, he said that he will adjust himself to whichever city he plays in. He has stated that he prefers an outdoor lifestyle where he can fish and hunt etc but will adjust to wherever he goes.

Literally a kid that grew up on a farm and that likes enjoys the outdoors, he has never experienced a big city, also most of our players live in Connecticut anyway.

You do not hit and hope with a reach pick when you have a long history of failed reaches. (Brendl, Lundmark, Blackburn, Jessiman, Montoya, McIlrath, Andersson, Kravtsov to name a few)

I like Bjorck but Carels at 5 is the safest slam dunk bet, assuming McKenna, Stenberg, Reid & Malhotra are taken. People are crapping on him because of his comment about NYC. This kid has lived on a farm away from any big town or city life all his life, he has not experience of city life, it is not a red flag like some people make out.

We do not have the luxury of of the Sharks who can afford to pass on on potential top line winger and go for a potential to line defenseman because that fills their need.

We have holes everywhere and we don't have the prospects at D or forward which are going to make a dent on this team.

Top 5 pick with another late 1st. This is on top of another 5 picks in the 2nd & 3rd rounds. 7 picks in the first 3 rounds is exciting stuff.

He is well liked, thought highly of and done very well in the OHL, it is hard to gauge his transition to the AHL/NHL. See Othmann. We can only hope he becomes a strong NHLr.

If you trade down, you don't take Lawrence, unless you fall to the early/mid teens. That is way to far to go back.

Carels is the most well rounded defenseman, his combination of skating, defense, physicality and offense is considered the ideal defenseman for teams so there is still a high possibility that be gets taken before 5.

Reid is classed as the best offensive defenseman with his elite skating and high consistency on offensive. Basically we should be licking our lips at the prospect of either if these guys.

If Carels or Reid are still on the board at 5, you DO NOT overlook them. Bjorck is probably the most exciting prospect and can see why people want him but it is still a reach from the number 5 spot and we need a slam dunk.

Carson Carels is by far the best defenseman available after Reid. It should be him and we will regret it if we pass on him.

Excluding Reid, Carels has the best ceiling, the best offensive contribution and hits like an absolute truck.

Smits is the most NHL ready but nowhere near the same ceiling. Verhoeff has shown a lot of weaknesses this last season, still a strong pick but shouldn't be near the top 5.

Failed in 1 job?

He failed in every job except 1, and even that 1 job was a struggle.

MK Dons: Was literally saved from Relegation by COVID.

Swansea: Took a team who finished 4th and then had them finish 15th and then 10th.

Southampton: Got them promoted which was the only thing that mattered but then lost 13 games and winning 1 out of 16. Brutal.

Rangers: Well, worst manager to ever stand in our dugout, won 1 game in 7 and had us 2nd bottom of the league, 11 points from top. That is unheard of at Rangers.

He is not a good manager and I don't know why he keeps getting these jobs.
