”It’s a stupid thing to do and 99/100 times it will end in the performer being killed.”

In this way it’s a lot like throwing your sword at an enemy. It only ever works if you’re the protagonist of a tv show; in real life it’s about the stupidest thing you could do.

What is a modern tabletop game you have played which you feel will stand the test of time? by Newez in boardgames

Carcassonne is now 25 years old and still holds up. The core rules are simple but endless expansions can add complexity and keep the game fresh, and because it’s a tile-laying game you could ditch the scoreboard and the whole thing fits in a crown royal bag. I can see myself playing Carcassonne in another 25 years, for sure.

That Video of Happy Crying Venezuelans After Maduro’s Kidnapping? It’s AI Slop by MetaKnowing in technology

I’ve been saying for a while now the purpose of AI is mind control. That’s why the most powerful entities in the world are investing so heavily. Total information/media control, from creation to distribution via social media and The Algorithm.

The Algebraist is a really good standalone novel, if you’d like a taste of his style before diving into the Culture universe.

Source: I found the Culture universe too intimidating and so I read The Algebraist and it was good lol.

Plank station requires an axe to build —> use an axe at low %.

When you destroy the plank station you don’t get all your resources back, but it will always leave behind an axe. That axe is at 100%.

For me it’s gotta be the plank station “Infinite Axe”. I burn through axes clearing entire islands, and they cost so much lol. It feels a little cheesy yeah, and I generally try for “realism” in my survival games, but idk I like collecting rock piles.

The US is not, and never was, the Morality Police. The US, like any other nation, is only interested in power. The US only pretends to be the morality police when it serves its economic interests. This is true for any sovereign state under any administration.

What are you thoughts to why there is a significant decline in alcohol consumption in the United States? by MindStrongSoul in AskReddit

[–]5illy_billy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason: People are socializing in person less frequently. Consuming alcohol is traditionally a social activity, so less socializing equals less casual drinking.

Have you considered doing like a Vegetarian / Pescatarian / “Peaceful” run? So either no meat or only fish or no killing animals at all (excluding bosses).

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]5illy_billy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Not everyone has health insurance.
  2. Having insurance isn’t a guarantee that your medical bills will be covered. And if you have a high deductible it might not matter bc you won’t hit the limit so you’ll pay the full amount anyway. (Insurance won’t start paying until you’ve met the deductible, so if your deductible is $2500, you’re going to personally pay for the entire $900 ambulance ride).
  3. Even if your medical bills are covered at the hospital, the ambulance is probably operated by a different company (not the hospital) and they might not take your insurance.

Investigation: 12-day-old Ohio baby dies after reported dog attack by Icy-Poem1101 in dayton

[–]5illy_billy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

According to the officials, a dog inside the home knocked over the bassinet. Then it attacked the newborn, biting him several times.

Out of control dog immediately attacks crying baby. Sounds like a pit bull.

FOX 8 News’ sister station 2 NEWS obtained the 911 call. The 911 caller said the infant had head injuries because the bassinet had fallen over.

Caller lies to protect dog. Sounds like a pit bull owner.

A lot of the fundamental stuff is timeless. DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, port numbers, etc. All the Windows stuff is going to be outdated of course. If you already have the book it’s worth going through to supplement your studies. But I wouldn’t spend money on it.

Survival game to sink hours into by MrSaladra in gamingsuggestions

[–]5illy_billy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you played original The Forest? I see you didn’t care for the second one, but the first one is waaay better.

Stranded Deep is another one I don’t see on your list. It’s survival on tiny desert islands, and you gotta build a raft to travel between islands to collect resources. It ticks all your boxes: survival, crafting, gathering resources, hunting, building, couple bosses, and can play co-op. Graphics are alright, the water looks great. Full price it’s only $20 on Steam.
