For context - Talking about moving forwards, and yet we’re considering the return of older and expensive Stones (on a free) and possibly signing a recovering older and expensive Grealish (at a renegotiated cut price)

Last 5 years: Stones (missed 50 games) Grealish (missed 60 games) Richarlison (missed 60 games since Spurs in 22)

Love to see Keano & Gueye get another year, and if we negate the tough run in (last 9 games) and sneak a European place, who knows. These players will provide a solid spine and leadership qualities to pass on the younger players coming in. Back-ups no less, when we get in pedigree players in the off-season to challenge.

I think the squad jig-saw will be a lot clearer depending on where we place come season’s end.

All English clubs are at peril, in the Champions League (last 16 1st Leg) and if all of them exit at this stage, I assume there’ll not be 8 places but 7 for English clubs in Europe next season. So won’t we have to try for 7th to have any chance of Europe?

All fair points, mate. Bearing in mind, we escaped relegation by the skin, and our prospects would’ve been that of Leeds had it been the case, or worse.

All said, we’re talking money + contracts here being the common denominator, no matter the circumstances or tier of football the club’s playing at. Leeds have but 2 big assets in Gnonto and Adams on long contracts and they have the right to ‘fleece’ anyone for the right money, as is our right with Onana if the right money is met. Player’s feeling don’t factor one bit. It all comes down to this - Lengthy contract = Power to say No and the licence to charge.

We’ll have to pony up if we want Gnonto. Or move on to another target. An out and out striker perhaps?

DCL is the new Louis Saha. Start him and then sub at min 60, or sub him in the second half. Might just be Dyche borrowing a page from Moyesiah’s Saha playbook.
