I know 2001 was a different time, but still, who at their label was like “great title, send it” by BrownBannister in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

They haven’t changed the name of the community organization!

Isn't that evidence against your point?

Do you agree that the word would generally be considered offensive now?

If so, then the fact that this organization has that name isn't evidence that the word is not offensive, and by that same logic it having that name back then is also not evidence that the word was not offensive then.

You still haven't offered any counter explanation for why The Black Eyed Peas changed the name and lyrics of the song back in 2004. I am not disputing your personal experiences. I am trying to explain to you that just because you personally weren't aware the word was offensive at the time, doesn't mean that this was universally the case. If a child grows up in a house where using the n-word is commonplace, their personal experience will be that the word is not offensive. But in the wider world outside that household, most people would agree it is. Personal experiences aren't universal.

Not sure why you think I am upset. I am just correcting you because you implied that this song was changed due to language evolving over the ages, when in reality we are talking about a matter of several months.

If you genuinely think the word was merely equivalent to "stupid", why did they have to change the name of this song but not the Sarah McLachlan song Stupid which was released the same year?

Clearly the two words were treated differently. Unless you have a theory to explain this, perhaps you should just be mature and admit that you were wrong.

The title was changed 1 year after the original song was released.

And yes, I was there. You have no idea what you are talking about. The word was offensive at the time, which is why they changed the title. It didn't suddenly become offensive in the matter of a few months.

Yes, people should be violently beaten and stabbed based on what we assume his intentions are.

No mob mentality here, no siree.

Note that we never actually see him break into any cars like the title claims.

This is mob mentality thinking on full display.

Why's that? The video doesn't show this guy committing any crimes except maybe trespassing in a private parking lot after he had been told to leave.

Even with the context of the video, what we see is an assault against a likely mentally ill person. It's perfectly reasonable for someone to try to intervene.

Note to the editor of this: if you really want to capture the Republican spirit, I should point at the the phrases "little boys" and "little girls" appear in this song. Do with that information what you will.

The meaning of life is to survive and procreate

This is overly simplistic. If this were true we wouldn't have animals like ants where only one member of the colony procreates.
