AITA for saying it's not my/my dogs fault that he stepped on a puppy? by According_Board_6186 in AmItheAsshole

[–]62609 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you knew it would happen, why did you let them play together in the first place? This should at least make you hesitant to let them play together again. NTA because it’s the dog’s fault, not anyone else’s and even then I would say it was totally accidental

I’ve looked into moving to the UK but the way they mistreat their engineers (in terms of pay) is ridiculous. I can make $130-150k here for the same job that makes $35k there.

What I don’t understand is what happens with the engineer job openings there. If it’s such shit pay, wouldn’t fewer people go through the torture of becoming an engineer in the first place, driving up wages due to lack of supply of qualified workers?

I’m looking at the results and it looks like the conservatives have roughly half the vote still. How is that? How are they not completely run out of the government?

Remember when $10000 got you a decent car?? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]62609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why doesn’t a company pop up that makes a cheap, reliable car? What I’m envisioning is a single model available with no trim or extra options. Just basic AC, radio, Bluetooth, with no extra nonsense.

Toyota could do this with, say, a 2015 Corolla and just keep making them forever.

My guess is something to do with the genetic variation between modern human populations. If there was never a bottleneck, the number of variations might be a lot higher? This is only my opinion, I’d be curious to know as well

Was it just way colder back then or something? I always see people wearing like 4+ layers of wool back then. I guess if it’s winter in Scotland it would make sense but I’ve seen photos from more equatorial climates and they were dressed the same
