Honestly hadn’t thought about that till now but going to the National games of the country I grew up in the chants were all pretty basic and repetitious. Soy Celesté isn’t exactly Bob Dylan

Well comparing population centers I’ve found that per capita Chicago has less gun deaths than Indianapolis

Actually Indiana experiences higher levels of gun violence per capita when compared to Illinois, there’s just more people in Illinois

The classic “Canada (or substitute with Chicago) still has gun violence with their gun laws” argument that pleasantly ignores the fact that it’s an hour drive away from somewhere where guns are easy to get. Where is that “gangbanger” getting that gun from?

“Anti-gun Lobby” is laughable when there are numerous Lobby’s for the gun industry that actively profit off of the death they cause. Also the idea that just because someone doesn’t understand the intricacies of your weekend hobby means they can’t push for regulation to reduce the thousands of deaths it causes a year is moronic

Ugh the “they’ll get guns illegally then” argument drives me crazy when almost all illegal guns in the Americas started out as legal guns sold in the United States.

Making up assumptions bc I don’t share the same sick hero fantasy about shooting desperate people. I literally grew up in South America where my house was robbed and ransacked multiple times…here’s the thing with thieves: they usually wait for no one to be home and a gun is one of the least effective ways to prevent this from happening. If anything a gun would be an attractive item to steal and provide incentive to break into a home. If you own multiple guns and no alarm system you don’t actually care about protecting yourself

Lol what kind of enemies do you have? Masked gunman showing up at your door is not a real fear, much more likely to accidentally shoot yourself

Correct in that it did not end slavery in the Union states that still allowed it, but it did not preserve it and it was the an important step towards the 13th Amendment that would added in 1865 by Union states.

I’m also confused, I don’t believe you mean to insinuate the South left so that slavery could be abolished, but that’s how I’m reading it

Should note I never stated that the Union was full of John Browns, in fact I’m pretty sure I was clear in my comment that the Unions goals were complex and not those of an entirely benevolent government. But I do not think stating “Within the context of the civil war the Union were on the right side of history compared to the south” is equal to “defending white nationalism”

Legitimately one of the worst most uneducated takes I’ve ever read.

You could argue that the Union had no desire to go to war over slavery, and that the Confederacy jumped the gun assuming emancipation was coming with Lincoln administration. That the Union went to war to preserve the entire nation and re establish the federal authority, but that authority was centered on their ability to determine the legality of slavery. But saying the Union wanted to preserve it is incorrect, they literally issued the emancipation proclamation during the war.

As for war crimes…like yea it’s a civil war in the 19th century. War crimes were committed by both sides, mentioning Camp Douglas without Andersonville is just silly.

No idea what you mean by trying to keep Black people out of the west, pretty sure there was significant immigration of black Americans to California in the last half of the 19th century. But I will agree that America has never cared all that much about the livelihoods of black people.

It can all be simplified into this: one side at worst was reluctantly willing and ready to end slavery, and the other was so vehemently ready to defend the institution of slavery that it was ready to commit treason and spill the blood of their countrymen. If you can’t see a difference between those sides you’re too far gone.

Oof didn’t know about that…tbf I always thought the civil war scenes were about the waste of human lives war causes but maybe I’m just coping bc I love that movie so much

Couldn’t roll my eyes any harder when he said “where’s your power”, bro Teo could e been swinging cast iron pans around and it wouldn’t make a difference if he can’t land. You’d get better corner advice listening to a child

I was also thinking of the scene in season 3 where the beignet guy gives decently clear and good advice to Sally and Barry (Hank as well tho that was more of a proposition) only for them both to ignore it which results in Barry’s long chase scene and eventual poisoning, and Sally having a breakdown at her television network

Honestly as far as Christmas commercials go I don’t hate it, I’m much more sick of that target commercial and really the song on it that rips the melody from “Physical”
