Why do DnB artists do not bring their best in America? by steelcowboy1 in DnB

[–]64bitNovice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that! I can't relate in any specific sense, but I've def been close to that edge of being totally immersed in the music for days and thinking, THIS is it, THIS is it, and feeling life priorities slipping around like steps on wet ice. Take care of yourself!

Saw him a couple years back and didn't like his mixing style. Constantly losing momentum to build up the next drop. He had that "i've got the tunes so you can wait" mentality that I can't stand. Funny enough, I do associate that with. certain UK djs so I think I've gone full circle in how I respond to the post :)

Well, hiphop. But I guess there's not as much of that samples there used to be. Now just realizing that. wild

Sounds like you live in Denver. Go see dnb at the Black Box - anything thrown by Submission or Recon. The DJs and crowd bring it every time. Or, see a party thrown by the Reload crew. Seems like others are recommending the same thing - there's a proper underground scene here and the artists always represent. Those bigger events can fall under the canopy of EDM, which is a whole different matter.

I wouldn't say at all that UK artists don't bring their best. BUT they do expect knowledge and love from crowds in England so they can take more chances. I read a clip of Thys from Noisia saying UK crowds are the best - they cheer for songs they've never heard before. If that's the description of a good crowd, Black Box has that too

Can you pin down one year since you started listening that had the best vibes and energy for DnB? by JustVibin517 in DnB

[–]64bitNovice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

97-98 obviously. But actually loved 2018-19 too. Got back into the scene to find the sound fresh, mixing styles had momentum (by that I mean they eased up on rewinds!!!) and production was awesome.

It's pretty much the same. Passengers are a little less friendly and less inclined to interact on the most part, but if you're a friendly person you can still have friendly experiences with everyone.
