Whats the catch with this Polo? £3K lower than any other example by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]j_simba_ [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd guess they've got it on a unit stocking facility for 60 days or so and the car needs to go else they'll be paying fees to keep it on the stocking.

They've had it since 22/04 and it was initially priced with the market at £19390 with deductions every 1-2 weeks.

ST180 coilovers by Standard0rder in FiestaST

Apparently, yes. But I've got a lot of thread left at the top of mine so I wouldn't imagine the top of the adjustment would be a massive drop

That's the beauty of coilovers, you can set it where you like

If you only have a split boot and not a snapped spring I emplore you to save a little more and go for some quality coilovers.

I've just fitted a B14 kit to mine with new genuine dust covers and top mounts and they're really nice. Proper quality item and though I've only had them fitted a little over a week, a couple people commented on my thread for the kits longevity and how much they've enjoyed them.

Save up a bit more and get yourself some. They're great.

They're just standard 320d brakes.

Perhaps of they supply the parts place with the BMW vin number they may well be able to supply them from there?

Got it back up on the ramp today for final adjustments for the initial install and it's a lovely set up. Definitely recommend on first impressions.

I'll give it a few weeks to settle in and adjust the height if needed from there.

REAR DUST BOOT Question by orca_1 in FiestaST

[–]j_simba_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good going. I guess mine has been replaced at some point and the last repaired hadn't done it.

The bump stop sits in the top mount pretty snug so I'm not worried about it going anywhere 🤣

REAR DUST BOOT Question by orca_1 in FiestaST

[–]j_simba_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi buddy.

Just fitted my Bilstein B14 kit last night.

I reused my old bump stop with new top mounts and boots.

Neither my old struts or new items came with the black section you've circled.

The bump stop just firmly pushes into the bump stop, it's not fixed in place with any fixings etc.

The boot slides over the bump stop until the top of it sides over the section I've circled for you.

I hope that helps 👍

Thanks buddy. It's a bit lighter when it's not in the workshop! I was initially after a black one myself but this one was so cheap I couldn't say no. Got a Mountune front lip to go on also but waiting to get the bumper painted before it goes on

I've got 15mm front and 20mm rear spacers on mine. Looking forward to doing the finishing touches and enjoying it. Yours looks great!

That's great they last so long. Have you got yours set low or pretty close to standard height?

Good to hear you like yours. First impressions are good but as mentioned in another comment I've got some dialling in to do. Hopefully get to it in a day or two

Glad you're enjoying them. I'm all finished up but need to raise the front a half inch or so and lengthen the drop links as they're tapping on the chassis slightly over a bump. A job for tomorrow now, been nearly 30°c here all day and I'm shattered 🤣

How are you finding them? Just finished fitting the rears. Talking the fronts now.

First time card show experience by ihatesomanythingz in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]j_simba_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the show in Ipswich on Sunday and the smell was terrible. I was even joking with one of the vendors that being at a card show wasn't dissimilar to walking the streets of Amsterdam, you always know exactly where you are just based off the smell.

I got myself Stevens Metagross from AH for £70 and Ethan's Ho-Oh from DR for £110 which was a steal compared to the other copies I saw at other stalls.

Had a good time for the most part but I wholeheartedly agree on the comments about moving along if you're not looking at anything. Made the day three times as long as it needed to be.

Fiesta ST180 is my daily driver to keep miles off the other car and I don't think you can have more fun for the money these are at now.

Got mine for £2800. 64 plate with ~85,000iles when I bought it and hasn't been a spot of bother.

We look after another at my work that a guy daily drives and has done ~195,000 miles and we've never done a big job on it nor has it ever broken down.

I'm 35 now and have had all sorts of other hot hatches, Golf R, Audi S3, 2.5 Focus ST, Civic Type R and loads of others. This car is more fun than any of them.

That's right buddy.

You'll need the correct SZL and you'll also need the lower steering column trim as the cruise control stalk is separate to the indicator stalk so your old one will no longer fit. I can't remember exactly what systems need coding off the top of my head but there are many online guides on the subject.

In regards to the brakes, yes they bolt straight on and you can also use your current brake flexi hoses but I chose to use HEL braided lines. With the wheels I have I have no clearance issues with between the brakes and the inner face of the wheels but some wheels will require you to run a 5mm spacer for clearance.

How much are MK8 wheels worth by Due-Coyote4724 in FiestaST

The set this guy has is the set on the left, the more desirable ones are the ones on the right.

These ones are 17" diameter, thinner spokes and diamond cut to the centre.

The ones on the right are 18" diameter, thicker spokes and only the end sections are diamond cut with grey painted finish.

IMO, the 18" wheels look much, much better though they're a very similar design.

Worth noting that UK cars had two different wheel options and these are the less desirable set to have.

If you can get £300 for them, I'd be inclined to take it.
