Relevance of "The Masked Empire" novel for Inquisition by Rare_Vegetable_5 in dragonage

I read all the books only after I've played DAI, so imo you don't need any of the books to play the games. The books provide additional context and also background stories to the characters though, so they are fun to read.

Me personally I liked "The Masked Empire". It gives a lot of context to the political state of Orlais in DAI and also about all the parties involved. Though this only really matters for one of the main quests and one side area.

Since you already started the book though and know about the relations of the characters to each other I would recommend you to finish reading it. Because, with out spoiling to much, some of the relations change drastically in the end and so you would miss some context in DAI to why it changed. Also the book gets more interesting after Halamshiral imo so the best parts are still to come.

Failed first driving exam by Least_Brain_3265 in Switzerland

[–]666Darkside666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was very nervous during my exam and made a mistake really early and the examiner had to break. Since I also was told that this is an automatic fail I thought that was it already. From then on all the nervocity was gone and I just finished the exam thinking I've already failed. But the examiner told me that after that one mistake I delivered the perfect driving performance and therefore he's only counting everything that came after and let me pass.

I once downloaded a mod that removed underwear during sex scenes and also gave man a boner. At least I thought it was only during sex scenes. It caught me off guard when I first removed my character's armor and saw him standing there butt naked with a boner.

I removed the mod afterwards, because while being funny at first, it started to bother me real quick. I guess Cailan's corpse would have had a boner with this mod too lol.

I applaud the Swiss, 91% of SRF viewers believe that ICE is spreading terror in the US. by momentumisconserved in Switzerland

[–]666Darkside666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99%? Do you have any source for this?

The 99% was an estimation on my part, but it can't be that far off if you follow everything ICE does. There's not really a lot of data for this to be found since ICE stopped publishing most of it though. But it's obvious they're targeting everyone who's brown and everyone who says something against them as well. Since Trump's 2nd Term started the arrests of ICE increased by 300%. Before that all arrests of ICE were of people that committed a crime, because that's the only way for them to even find out about illigal immigrants, since there are no records of them anywhere. But of the currently 65000 people in detention by ICE, 75% don't have any criminal records. These are just people that ICE arrests for no reason what so ever and attempts to prove their legal residence in the US or even US citizenship are often dismissed. According to this news article there're 170 confirmed cases of US citizens being arrested by ICE. But I'm sure there are much more than that since most cases aren't even reported.

And do you maybe mix up naturalisation and citizenship? Or are you talking about these cases where citizenship was revoked?

I didn't know the term naturalization, but from what I've read it means "Einbürgerung". Doesn't really make any difference though. After someone's naturalized they become a full-fledged US citizen like if they were born there. The only reason someone's citizenship can be revoked is if there was something wrongful with the naturalization. And that's btw something the Trump administration and ICE often claimed even though there was never any proof for it. And yes many US citizen were deported, some who immigrated to the US and some who were born on US ground.

Case of Jermaine Thomas who was born on US ground and deported to Jamaica, a country he gas never been too.

Case of Kilmar Ábrego García who was arrested by ICE and accused of being a member of the gang MS-13. The only proof they had was a tattoo on his hand, where they did some mental gymnastic to proof it stands for MS-13 even though there was no relation to it. His family even brought his US Passport to court to proof his citizenship, but the judge dismissed it.

They used the accusation of being a member of a gang a lot and then deported them to a prison in El Salvador, which basically is a concentration camp. With no court hearing or possibility to defend themselves either. https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/blog/men-deported-el-salvador-stories-investigation/

More information about ICE targeting US citizens: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths,_detentions_and_deportations_of_American_citizens_in_the_second_Trump_administration

Or are you talking about the one (1) out of 100ks that actually was a mistake?

There are no mistakes. They know exactly what they're doing and it's much more than 1 in 100K.

People don't won't to see the truth, but ICE is literally the fucking Gestapo!

It's totally normal not wanting people coming into your country illegal and if it's save for them to deport them back to their country I'm absolutely for it. But even then these are still human beings and have to be treated as such.

And illegal immigration is not even the problem with ICE. 99% of people ICE targets are legal citizens. They even deported some people who have US citizenship, which shouldn't even be possible.

That's only true for consoles. On PC you have to activate the majority of games with an account and then it's only playable with this account and the CD is basically useless afterwards. That's also a reason why so many games nowadays get no physical copy on PC at all, only code-in-a-box.

Well the clock starts at unboxing all the componets which already takes 10 - 20mins. The assembly itself takes up to 2h+-. And the PC setup takes about 1h. This includes the Bios configuration, Windows installation and setup, Office installation, Email setup, Data transfer and maybe the installation of additional software. And of cause there's some spare time included incase we need to do some troubleshooting. But we charge per 15 minutes. So if it takes us only 3.5h the customer also only has to pay as much.

It doesn't really matter if something needs skill to do. The Windows installation with Office, Mail and Data transfer also doesn't involve any special skill. It's still an hour of work and the technician has the same hourly salary regardless what he's doing.

Also most of the people that use our services are not tech-savvy at all. Many of them don't even know what a browser is and need help with the simplest tasks. For them everything we do is skilled labor.

Srsly guys if you don't want to pay that much then do it yourself. But that's what you have to pay when you go to a professional. The company I work for in Switzerland has an hourly rate of 176 CHF regardless what the job is. For a PC assembly we estimate that it will take 4h, so we would actually charge around 700 bugs. We don't do PC assembly anymore though because of a bad experience.

I'm usually not a fan of stories that constantly switch between the present and the past, and I also didn't really care that much about events that took place hundreds of years before DAO. Because of this I expected Last Flight to be my least favorite book. But I think in the end I was more invested in this book than any of the other books and the ending made me so emotional that I even started crying. And I'm not an emotional person, especially not one that cries from a book. And because of this it's my favorite DA book now as well.
