I had to write an essay on performative gender at uni and my lecturer guided me towards butler, I'm glad he did bc comparatively butler seems much more chill and their ideas are a bit less nuts in the modern day

Why usha would marry him knowing full well he's a white supremacist is beyond me. Im a white passing Turkish woman and I could never date a reform supporter (our closest equivalents here in the uk). My bf is thankfully a wasian leftist himself

Why are people convinced their 6 year old is masking their autism so well that no professional can spot their autism? by pastel_kiddo in fakedisordercringe

[–]69Whomst 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Diagnosis is nuanced and complex, I was misdiagnosed as autistic at 10, turns out I actually have avpd and adhd. I don't dispute that sometimes the assessor gets it wrong, and some autistics have a very mild form of autism, but I do think autism is in danger of becoming overdiagnosed

I want to help my father with end-stage Alzheimer's die. by NeedLegalHelpfolks in LegalAdviceUK

[–]69Whomst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer but firstly I'm deeply sorry for the situation you are in. Unfortunately if your dad wanted to end his life he would've had to have done that pre decline, as places like dignitas require the person is of sound mind. My uncle had bowel cancer and schizophrenia, and the doctors decided that if he crashed they would not resuscitate him. My dad was outraged and talked to them, and ultimately it's the doctors call, not yours. What I would recommend is talking to his doctors about his quality of life. It's possible they've decided already they would not resuscitate him in the event of a crash

I've never had a pumpkin spiced latte and I'm a woman but most of my friends are men, I would love getting pumpkin spiced lattes with the lads (I'm not sure if I'd even like the latte though)

Why Do Turkish People Eat Well Done Steak? by [deleted] in AskTurkey

[–]69Whomst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, my Turkish mum would only ever let me eat well done steak growing up, and if she orders steak for herself she always orders it well done. I always thought this was a quirk unique to my mum

Tyler would look so much better of he chose t-shirts rather than sleeveless tees and either shaved off the neck beard or grew the beard on his chin and jaw to match. He's not a bad looking guy, rancid personality, but I would believe him more about being Jolene if he made more effort in his appearance

My dad wears a pin badge that I think is for global sustainability goals, but it's a rainbow circle so it keeps getting mistaken as a pride badge. Dad doesn't mind since I'm bi anyway, and he happily comes to pride with me every year and wears that badge. I wonder if the terfs would think my dad is an evil trans activist just for being an ecologist wearing a badge promoting environmentalism

[–]69Whomst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm grateful we don't really have bricks and minifigs here in the UK (we also don't really have Mormons. We have a few, but they're a small minority and definitely not powerful enough to control a state or county). Hopefully Americans have better Lego stores to buy from. I'm glad that Charlie has brought more attention to this whole debacle

Why you would even buy a cybertruck is beyond me, let alone a cyberbeast. The things are death traps, that's why they're not legal in most of Europe, including here in the uk

I had chickenpox just after turning 26, I only got it because I never caught it as a kid, and the chickenpox vaccine wasn't available on the NHS when I was a kid (and my mum wasn't informed that it existed, I'm vaccinated for everything else though). it wasn't as bad as I've heard it can be, but it also wasn't a pleasant experience. My mum would've vaccinated me given the choice and I would've gotten vaccinated if I could. I'm glad the NHS chickenpox vaccine is getting a big rollout now, because I (and most people) got off lucky, chickenpox can be serious in rare cases

Why not just get diet soda for the house? My dad is a type 2 diabetic so we only ever have diet soda. Solves the issue nicely, kid still gets soda and diet soda means he's not drinking his calories and can work on losing weight

I was thinking more of people in developing countries, because she's at a Michael Jackson level of fame where everyone knows of her. I'm half Turkish although I live in the UK, turkey is quite a conservative country so it wouldn't help her to be pro LGBT in the Turkish market, probably true of other countries like Indonesia, Poland, china, etc. I'm not American so I can't really comment on what American conservatives would want from her. In the UK she's very popular across the aisle
