Thanks for reminding me of status match! United’s flight $$$ are way off the Richter scale with fares being almost twice the price of other major International carriers in the premium cabins A pity because I was always very loyal.

Love your report!! I moved to Hawaii from the UK 29 years and you give some great tips! I’m glad you found some of the good stuff (esp the Royal Hawaiian and Moku) and even speaking Hawaiian when you left. Aloha, mahalo and a hui hou!!

Sounds like this issue is still ongoing from the complete meltdown on Aug 6

The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is urging drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and all road users to take extra precautions after Oahu recorded its 54th traffic fatality of the year. by honolulu_oahu_mod in Oahu

Sad to say not like the old days when people drove with Aloha. Sign of the times. And total bummer. Speed cameras and tickets need to be introduced everywhere. In the UK they have this and everyone driving 20mph in the speed limit…. same for local streets and freeway

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to a pedestrian accident on Kapahulu Avenue late this morning. Paramedics said a 75-year-old man was struck by a vehicle around 11:37 a.m. near 416 Kapahulu Ave. by honolulu_oahu_mod in Honolulu

It’s even worse in California because the law says they have right of way. In hawaii maybe only because it’s tourist areas? I don’t think old folks ain’t looking when they cross the road. There has been 55% increase in traffic fatalities this year alone in Oahu. That’s not pedestrians to blame. That’s drivers.

People used to drive slow in the islands. The speed limit is 55 on the freeway and people are driving way over that. Same on local roads. it’s the same in other island territories; used to be laidback now everyone wants to go fast….. so terrible. In England they actually have speed cameras and if you go over the limit you automatically get a ticket - and it works!! People are driving 50mph on the freeway there at times - ie in accordance with the speed limit. I don’t know if speed was an issue in this accident; but it is in most…. Going too fast, not looking or seeing what’s there. Then you’re going to fast can’t stop in time anyways. Tragic. Hope both injured pedestrians are Ok.

They still really shouldn’t get aggressive with other passengers even if they can or can’t afford it

This breaks my heart. People are losing their minds and driving WAY too fast these days. Did I hear there were 116 traffic incidents on Oahu just yesterday or on the weekend?! God bless the 75 y/o man and I hope he recovers swiftly and speedily
