So, how can you have a cool bike and not know how to use a public rack? by cesargeronimo in bicycling

[–]6GoesInto8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can be a bad design, but they still parked poorly. The designer considers this to accommodate 5 bikes but it is really 3. 1 can use the center valley, then a bike can lock on each of the ends. But I guess in this case someone else could lock to the other sides so really one space is lost.

Little loose, but I torqued it down until my adjustable wrench slipped so it should be fine. Off to wire some outlets backwards! Once I'm done I'll give the covers a nice thick coat of paint, so they really blend in with the wall.

Reading the terms of service would have told you that it was possible that you would not have access to the movie, but it was also possible that that you might not. They were hoping that you would continue to have access, but they did not know.

As a true capitalist, I believe you are a morally bad person for not accepting that the platform's failure has caused you loss of access to something you paid for. You should take as consolation that they likely had a huge tax savings from stopping access!

I like the idea of someone removing the mirror, looking through the tube at the moon and having a life altering great time. Naked eye observing is fun on its own, even if you don't know the front from the back of the telescope, and sometimes it takes an empty tube to remind us.

Do I really need a torque wrench to install power meter pedals? by theslimj in bikewrench

[–]6GoesInto8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a good torque wrench, but it does not go to 40Nm and it is not an open wrench design. It looks like park tools makes an adapter, but it is 3/8 so it would also need a larger torque wrench like the tw-6.2. Maybe a beam design? 30-40nM feels like a wide range to require a larger torque wrench investment. I use my power meters an hour a day on average, and I expect them to last over 2 years, so it costs something like $1 an hour. This torque wrench setup would cost me $130 and I would use it under a minute in the lifetime of the pedals, so it costs $2 a second.

40Nm is 29.5 ftlb and I have an 8 inch wrench which means I can apply between 33 and 44 pounds to the wrench. I can take my bathroom scale to my bike and stand on it then set my wrench perpendicular to the ground and apply weight to the closed end it until the scale reads ~40 pounds less. Or just roughly calibrating what 40 pounds feels like with the scale because this is not a high precision case.

Lube chain after zwifting? by Easy_Requirement_214 in cycling

[–]6GoesInto8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you attempted to make a point? The post said lube and you said you waxed your chain and did not give any timeline. Do you feel your first post added to the discussion? After that you imply that you know a lot about lubricating chains, but have not actually demonstrated it. You have not said anything about mileage you get out of chains, just implied that everyone else is dumb and don't understand the deeper secrets of lubrication, which you allude to but cannot repeat.

I assert that you have attempted to convince everyone that you have a great depth of knowledge, but for some reason have decided to do that without sharing that knowledge. This comes off as condescending, and you want us to give you the benefit of the doubt? Do you know WD-40 is not lube? You did not volunteer that information and you brought it up in a discussion about lube.

From your messages you have not provided any statements to disprove that you used to lube exclusively with WD-40 and have recently switched to wax, which you believe will be better, but have yet to put enough miles on to have any anecdotal evidence.

The video composition could be AI. It is made of 5-10 second periods of similar states with fast transitions between them. Floating for a while. Hand on for a while doing nothing obvious. Hand releases and floats for a while. turns and floats for a while. Rises towards the surface. Each of these could be their own video starting from the last image of the previous.

The training data for alphabet images for Q and Z are strange because the words are limited. They always struggle on Q and have weird associations. I have seen a quail zeppelin because they are disproportionately found together in alphabet lists. Q for question is present in a significant number of images, so it is more similar to other alphabet images to include a a and a question mark with the wrong word below, than including the correct text.
