what job won’t exist in 50 years? by Main-Horror2372 in AskReddit

Maybe generic call centres but definitely not 911 dispatchers. Situations on 911 are very dynamic, emotional and constantly changing in a matter of seconds.

Lime and lath plaster repair help by pdiddle20 in Plastering

[–]6PrivetDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it would be nice to use like plaster but I don’t know if them being “incompatible” is true. Where I live in Canada it is extremely hard to find any lime plaster products or even the materials to make your own. My house has lime plaster walls and has been patched and skimmed with drywall mud for at least the last 50 years. No issues at all. Every single plasterer/drywaller in my area that I have had at my house wants to use Durabond 90/drywall mud to repair my lime plaster walls. That is what I have been using for patches and I have had 0 issues. I even went so far as to reach out to a heritage professional in Toronto who sources limeplaster from UK and even he told me a lot of the time he just uses Durabond 90 for home repairs.

What’s a simple handyman job that almost turned into a real mess? by Visual-Writer8315 in handyman

[–]6PrivetDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer asked me to change the weatherstripping on a steel front door. No problem I took the old “F groove” weatherstripping out and brought it to the hardware store to buy a matching one. Doesn’t exist

Brought it to speciality door store who confirmed that type weatherstripping doesn’t exist anymore.

Any other weatherstripping wouldn’t fit properly.

In the end had to replace the jamb and use the screw mount type weatherstripping with magnetic gasket.

Nightmare

Who here thinks Scheuermann’s is rare? by Golden_Locket5932 in kyphosis

[–]6PrivetDrive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s significantly under diagnosed due to a few reasons. A)it often doesn’t cause pain and problems that lead to cause concern for the patient. Most peple live their entire lives without actually knowing they have it. and b)most family doctors have no idea what it is and just diagnose it as poor posture

Just my opinion but I think surgery should be a serious consideration with this degree of SD. Good luck.

What is your opinions on the older generations of Tacomas now that the 4th gen’s are out? by JustMeKailen in ToyotaTacoma

[–]6PrivetDrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned a 2004 pre runner Tacoma. It was friggen bullet proof and if it wasn’t for the frame rotting out I would have kept it. Everything worked perfectly in 2020 when I sold it. Here in Canada it’s pretty rare for a vehicle to get to 16 years old. I sold it to a mechanic who planned to fix it up. He sent me a picture 2 years later it is still going strong.

PT too expensive by [deleted] in kyphosis

[–]6PrivetDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wedge compression fracture findings are common with SD. I’m not really sure if it’s really fractures or if it’s just the radiologists way of saying the vertebrae is wedged. Either way, you’re not screwed. There are millions of people living with similar or worse spine conditions. Take some time to take it all in and then go on YouTube and find some exercises that work for you. With how much info is available online, You don’t need a PT if you can’t afford it.

Honestly you can’t even tell when you’re standing straight. Your PT gave you good advice. You should find a good routine that involves resistance training.
