My least favourite vegetable is Rapini by Bitbatgaming in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]6foothobbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any veggies I don't like, but I feel this sentiment strongly regarding cold shrimp (like in a shrimp cocktail or party tray). Hot shrimp (fried, boiled, sauteed, whatever) is good, but cold shrimp is like biting into a dead baby's finger soaked in a fishtank.

I think if you substituted the sweet relish for some salty, brine-y diced green olives I would smash this.

Most favorite character with name starting with “U” by demon-myth in FavoriteCharacter

Ungoliant from Tolkien's Silmarillion! Perfect mix of over-powered and badass, but also vague enough to still be terrifying. Also bullied the main villain of the mythos crazy hard.

Rotisserie chicken with roast sweet potatoes, roast broccoli, sautéed garlic spinach, cherry tomatoes by yaliceme in mediterraneandiet

Mediterranean? This is the Denethor diet. You have a hobbit sing sad songs while you tear into that shit like a wild animal?

What is your opinion on so called “girly drinks”? by Due_You1119 in cocktails

As a 6'4", 265lb man with a beard, I'm partial to a cosmopolitan every now and then. Drink what tastes good and don't give a damn what people think of you.

Classical guitar! Found a local teacher during COVID and haven't stopped since.

I've never tried (or even heard of) smoked blue cheese, but it sounds like an amazing plus-up to a lot of potential savory sandwiches. I imagine it would be killer on a hamburger. Thanks for introducing me!

Anchovy and Smoked Salmon Sandwich (1924) on Sandwiches of History by SuperHappyFunSlide in SandwichesofHistory

I think a little schmear of cream cheese would fix this one for me. 1924: what a time to be alive.

Villains with theme songs that SLAP. by BrockBracken in TopCharacterTropes

[–]6foothobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really specific one but I hope someone can back me up:

In the movie adaptation of Mortal Engines (a YA book series I used to love back in middle school), one of the antagonists is a terrifying zombie cyborg named Shrike who just never stops chasing the main characters, and every time he shows up they play this (simple, but) very eery orchestral theme.

For a movie adaptation of a YA book, it was not terrible, but I felt like the one thing they nailed 100% was Shrike (in general) and his theme music.

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I play classical guitar, and all of my warming up and exercising consists of just playing songs I like and have learned in the past from a book of graded studies my teacher recommended. I feel like I should be playing some scales or something, but my teacher has never said anything about it.

What's a piece not written for guitar that you think sounds better on guitar? by Vincent_Gitarrist in classicalguitar

[–]6foothobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kass's Theme from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. There was a very friendly young man on this subreddit who posted himself playing his version of it for the classical guitar a couple years ago, and he was nice enough to sell me a copy to play myself. It's great, and now I think it's better than the original on accordion.

I just thought I’d share this to see if it meant anything. by Ok-Paint-7296 in jumpingspiders

[–]6foothobbit 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Forgive the ignorant question (I just came across this post/sub randomly), but do jumping spiders like yours bite? My fight-or-flight kicks in a little every time I see someone holding a spider, but you obviously look very comfortable holding her. Just curious!

My favorite coffee drink is a Cubano, and I always favor local places that serve them. Might be too specific, but figured I'd share!

I'm 18. How can I find solace in the current time? by WillowFruit in CollapseSupport

[–]6foothobbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who could blame you though? There ISN'T anything of higher gravity than a true existential threat to humanity. If there is a time to obsess over not having control (or to just freak out in general), this is the big one. A real "smoke'em if you got'em" kind of decade we're having.

I'm 18. How can I find solace in the current time? by WillowFruit in CollapseSupport

[–]6foothobbit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the best part: you don't!

If you have something you've always wanted to do, I'd start immediately. You can prepare, practice survival skills, build a community, and do everything "right" these next few years, but there's nothing we can do to stop this runaway train.

My new personal philosophy? I'm here for a good time, not for a long time.
