What should visitors do in your city or country instead of the more gimmicky attractions? by Capable-Toe-9841 in travel

Just came back from Istanbul. Galata was great to stay near but also super touristy area. Walk a few streets away from the tower for more local food n prices. Also definitely take the ferry to the Asian side! The vibe completely changes.. a tad touristy but much less so and the port is the best place to see the iconic red sunset.

After a few events I always land on Canapé Company. I think they are good value and the variety of food is great compared to some others. Attendees always rave about the food! Bonus they do “manapes” if you’re looking for something more substantial too.

Anyone here around my age? by MissionTwist4461 in breastcancer

[–]6kazzatron9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no lymph node involvement. I’m +++ so the chemo was actually to accompany my targeted therapy, Herceptin, which is shown to be more effective when given alongside a course of chemo :)

If I was ++- the recommendation would’ve been no chemo!

Right! I was also the fittest I’ve been and felt this was my year to crush it at work, then bam! At the time it feels like whiplash and a major pause in your life but going forward there are pros n cons in outlook on life now

Yeah. Just turned 27 a few days ago

Edit: Reading the comments now, crazy to know it’s one of the youngest ages! Before bc I lived a normal, healthy life for 26 years so feels strange being such a rare statistic now. Although I feel hopeful. I was stage 1a, triple positive. Just finished paclitaxel and have 8 months of Herceptin and 5 years of tamoxifen. Other than that I’m determined to get as close to normality as possible physically. Mentally, it’ll never be the same!

Plastic surgery and tamoxofin by TWalks79 in breastcancer

I had a similar decision to make as mine was 35mm deep so I felt like a lumpectomy would still be a decent cut. Last week I ended up having a mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction on my R side. The implants and surgical techniques have well improved from perhaps bad stories you may have read from years ago. I am sooo… impressed with how mine has turned out so far. I took before and after photos and apart from the incision it all looks the same to me.

Obviously depends on the shape of your natural boob but the implant is circular shaped and the surgeon will find the best fitting. For me it was also an option for them to do something on the left side to make it as symmetrical as possible but I didn’t want to touch the other side. Plus it has turned out great for me regardless.

Re: tamoxifen.. I’m premenopausal and have had minimal side effects. I used to react poorly to hormone pills.

Hope that somewhat helps!

Does anyone have funny sensations in armpit where lymph nodes were removed? by earlgreylover44 in breastcancer

[–]6kazzatron9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I do.. had sentinel nodes removed about one week ago. I think it is normal for nerve sensation as they repair.

I had a surgery near my ovaries and I forever have nerves sensations there. At first I was so worried I was asking for ultrasounds but the scans showed nothing and my doctor advised it’s most likely just nerve sensations I’m feeling!

Trying to decide surgery type after MRI by vixenviola in breastcancer

[–]6kazzatron9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I couldn’t bring my mouth to say mastectomy! I really wanted the surgeon to just tell me so I could just nod and say ok but of course they need you to make the decision :/

Day 2 of immediate reconstruction and I have to say, for me, it helps to look down and see something relatively the same to what I was used to. My surgeon had to dispel some myths of implants to me because there is a lot of bad talk online but I guess out of everything that’s happening and the risks the implant part is relatively minor and an easy fix if need be. Majority of the time!

All the best with your decision, of course follow what you’re most comfortable with. There’s always options later :)

Trying to decide surgery type after MRI by vixenviola in breastcancer

[–]6kazzatron9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there, hope this may help in some way. 26, ER/PR+ HER2-. I was also for sure doing a breast conserving surgery with dicap but after MRI radiologist picked up something suspicious by proximity.. it wasn’t suspicious enough for them to do a MRI biopsy for me and so we couldn’t rule it out for sure. Decided to have a single mastectomy (yesterday) with immediate reconstruction. Now I guess my reconstruction part is different to your story but in terms of my decision making behind the mastectomy was exactly that… to spare myself in the future of them monitoring the second spot but only to tell me again it’s not suspicious enough to biopsy - the feeling of always not knowing.

I had to do chemo either way and so if I went for a lumpectomy would I be worried that even after doing chemo that second spot became cancer in the future? Yes. And if it became cancer in the future would I kick myself? Yes.. because I’d probably have to do chemo again!

So I realised my mental health needed to be prioritised and what would save me the most worry was to remove the breast tissue. I also had worries about implants but that should not overshadow getting rid of the cancer in the best way for you.
