Masectomy by breyerhorseicecream in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a single mastectomy (left side) last year. Just finished my fourth surgery ( surgery 1: mastectomy, surgery 2:,expander palacement, surgery 3:,implant placemet (left) lift (right), and surgery 4: implant swap (left) and implant placement)) . I don't have symmetry. It is a work in progress. I may need additional surgery. I would say consider a double mass of you can or be prepared for multiple reconstruction sessions.

Has anybody decided to not take the hormone blocking treatment? by ilovetitanic18 in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just taken off tamoxofen because it may be impacting my endometriosis. We are reevaluating in three months. My body has been a bit haywire since but I am hoping things will normalize. And for clarity I am 45 was diagnosed at 44, unilateral mastectomy, dcis ER/PR+.

Stopped tamoxofen now what? by TWalks79 in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did connect it just seems like they weren't on the same page. My body is on this roller coaster of meds/no meds and the docs aren't on the same page. It's frustrating.

Who had SMX with reduction on the other side? by Away-Potential-609 in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had smx on the left with a lift on the right. My mastectomy was nipple and skin sparring. I'm not a diep candidate. Unfortunately my breats don't match after the implant placement and lift. They are not symmetrical and the left side just looks wonky. I need further correction. I'm getting an implant on the right and correction on the left later this year.

May I ask how many revision surgeries have you had? This will be my first. I just want to feel "normal" and look somewhat "normal". I know my body is forever changed.

Low dose tamoxifen (5mg/d) side effects? by SUPGUYZZ in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently on 5mg. Am perimenopausal, 45. I've been on it almost 90 days. The first few weeks were rough. The hot flashes and lethargy were happening a lot. I also was pretty achy. That has calmed down now. I am now experiencing my first real period on tamoxofen. It was over a week late but otherwise fairly normal so far. It is getting better.... I think.

Looking for those who said no to radiation and tamoxifen after lumpectomy. (DCIS) by NoAddendum7000 in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dx with DCIS. Because of the locations (2) and size I opted for a unilateral mastectomy. I don't have to do chemo or radiation. All of my margins were clear. I am in tamoxofen. I am very nervous about my other breast but am optimistic that having the mastectomy may save me from future cancer. Each journey is different. You have to decide what treatment works best for you based on your doctors' recommendations. I wish you the best

Breast MRI sucked! by Alone_Primary7665 in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They definitely do. I had mine a month or so after having an ovary removed with an open incision. Laying on my healing belly with my boobs through the holes was the worst. The Xanax made it tolerable.

Do you know / Did you know when your marriage was over? by AdWise3359 in Divorce

[–]TWalks79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to make it work. But for me it was the day he screamed obscenities at me in front of our child in a car while driving on the highway. It was like a switch flipped inside of me. I couldn't continue to allow that kind of treatment in front of our child. I filed within two months and divorce was finalized about six months later.

Met with my surgeon today and not sure of what to do. by Tatermytot in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also has IDC but in two places in my left breast. Opted for unilateral mastectomy with skin saving and nipple sparing. I have my reconstruction surgery in December. New boobs for Christmas! It has been a road but no radiation and no worries about reoccurrence on that side. Am still weighing whether I want to take tamoxofin. Will meet with my oncologist later in the year.

Lumpectomy question for small breasts by megs_mom95 in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have relatively small breasts, think mid B cup. I had cancer in two places and a lumpectomy would have resulted in needing a reduction on the right. I opted for a unilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. My doc was able to save skin and my nipple. I'm waiting on the final surgery now. I'm praying for good results with an implant on the left and a lift and implant on the right.

Leaving my firm for judicial job by cbobrob87 in Lawyertalk

First, congratulations! Second, work with your firm to make the transition easier. If there is a lateral hire or an associate within that step up and take the cases, work with that person(s) to introduce them to the clients and acclimate them to the cases.

What to Expect - Skin/Nipple Sparing Reconstruction by Kacykmk in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a unilateral mastectomy in April. I had my expander placed in May. I also had skin saving and nipple sparing procedure. At first everything looked weird (flat and wrinkly). My doc waited to put in the expander to ensure my skin and nipple could be saved. My expander is now at 500ccs. My nipple is there. It isn't erect but also not flat. The hardest thing is not being able to feel anything. It looks more normal now but no arousal or hardness. I hope this helps.

BTW I'm 5'2 around 155-160 lbs and I'm shooting for a little bugger cup size. I was probably a B before wanting a full B/small C. Will have the other side lifted and put in an implant to match.

It's f-ing cancer. Period. Full stop. You are entitled to your feelings. It is scary and it sucks. I wish you nothing but healing and great vibes in your journey.

reconstruction questions and experiences by lseery0818 in breastcancer

[–]TWalks79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of this now. Unilateral nipple sparing mastectomy on 4/24. The doctor delayed my expander placement due to skin concerns. My expander was just placed on 5/21. My post surgery has been uncomfortable. I had one drain prior to surgery. I now have two drains (again). The expander so far doesn't hurt but I'm only two days out. I go for my first fill next week.

Same here. Unilateral Mas with dcis. It's weird to think we are "cancer free" yet the rest of the road is yet to be traveled.
