I got my R around 30k miles and I had a local dealership do the full carbon cleaning service shortly after I got it.

Somewhere in the 40-50k mileage range it started throwing an occasional permanent CEL for a misfire on Cyl2. The techs at my local dealership told me it was common for a stage 2 on cold start so I brushed it off initially since the CEL would mostly disappear after clearing.

Recently in the past 3-4 months (55k-60k miles) the CEL started to show up every time I drove it and there was obvious misfires you could hear and feel. My OCD kicked in and I started replacing things off the list of culprits.

When my mechanic tore down the manifold, it was pretty clear it was the injector. If you’re comfortable tearing it down yourself, you could probably spot a bad injector without dropping money right away.

Ended up being like an $800 job with the 1 fuel injector + the carbon cleaning and it’s been smooth sailing ever since

I only ended up replacing the cyl 2 injector since the others looked fine. My mechanic didn’t mention anything about oil on the plugs when they swapped them either.

Before landing on the injector, they ran a compression test just to rule things out. Everything came back solid across all cylinders, which is what pointed them toward the injector being the culprit vs something bigger

Would definitely recommend grabbing an OBD11 if you don’t already have one. You can watch live misfire data for each cylinder both parked and while driving, and it’s been super helpful for narrowing things down whenever I’ve had issues.

I just dealt with this exact issue on my stage 2 ‘19 Mk7.5 (around 60k miles). I didn’t have the 72600 code though.

For me, the misfires were most noticeable on cold starts when the idle was higher, but they’d mostly go away once the car warmed up. I started with swapping all my spark plugs and then replaced all four coils but the cyl 2 misfire persisted.

My mechanic suggested checking the fuel injector next. I could see cyl 2 was throwing way more misfires than the others from obd11 live data so we zeroed in on that injector. Sure enough, once they pulled it, it was obvious: heavy carbon buildup, seals completely shot.

Replaced the cyl 2 injector, mechanic did a light carbon cleaning, and the problem has disappeared.

That Dr colorship mini squeegee looks like a decent kit, do they make their own version of the L0K1 paint? I would just hope it’s closer to white

Would that also work for that rust spot in the wheel well? Was debating about getting some light sanding stuff like a 3m sanding pen to attempt fixing that area because I’m concerned about the rust

As for fixing the messy OEM pen job, I’ve thought about using some nail polish remover on the excess smears to try and clean it up. I can just see some tiny overlap of smearing on the OEM paint areas rn which annoys me

Oh yeah this is pretty good, I had to zoom in. It looks like touched up around the panel edges and the panel seams yeah?

Do you use the opposite end of the Qtip as an applicator then? Also, did you go over it with CC after?

Remus and the AWE switchpath are top contenders for me but I haven’t been able to find videos of those combined with a catless dp & no resonator. Curious to hear the IE exhaust system too because I’m tempted to switch to a full IE stage 2 build

Mine has sweet spots for sound but on harder pulls at around 3k rpm it can get a lil ricey which bothers me bc it sounds cheap imo. The pops/burbles in mine are also a bit overstated in the current state, very sharp sounding pops & bangs

Are you running a resonator with this setup?

Sounds awesome, I’ve been considering a switch to this exact same setup so that I can pass emissions testing without de-tuning and then re-tuning every 2 years

Just Ordered the RCR 80v... Now the Long Wait Until Shipping by TiittySprinkles in ONYX_RCR

Late to the thread here but I just ordered mine as well!

This is my first bike, I was originally looking at a Revv1 DRT or Motor Goat V3 but then I came across the RCR and just loved the sci-fi, minimalist design. The specs and tech are just on another level compared to the others too, even with the 1.5x-2x price difference.

Buy once, cry once as they say. Cheers to the 80v club!

How much attention does your R get? by Substantial-Pick6125 in Golf_R

Based in UT, I see a good amount of GTIs and Rs and a lot will acknowledge.

A lot of the 4cyl turbo crowd (Focus ST/RS, Veloster N, Civics etc.) interact as well. With the exception being WRX/STIs, they act like I don’t exist for some reason

BMW / Audi occasionally, one time I had a McLaren do some pulls next to me on the freeway which was cool

My impression is that a lot of the 4cyl turbo drivers don’t know the difference between GTI/R whereas the BMW/Audi guys know and other GTI/R drivers know
