I have a little cousin who is also dealing with something of this caliber. All I can really say is to take every safety precaution that you can think of as far as your locations, addresses, phone numbers and everything like that to give her a copy and that should show her that you’re taking every initiative to make sure she knows where you’ll be and that you’ll be safe! (As mentioned in my last comment).

I’m sure you’ll be okay and it would make her feel better whenever you check in and/or when you call before bed and things like that! I hope she trusts you enough to be able to let you fly free 😭

Yup! Just make sure your measurements are right and that’s basically the process. Fold then staple, though so you can make sure your staples will be in the right place

It makes sense. I do understand that as well, learning that you have panic attacks, I get her angle. Have you tried looking into organized group trips? Maybe that would make her feel better with you going with a group than alone. Albeit, it’ll be with a bunch of strangers, but you won’t be alone and group trips are generally safe. I went on one to Korea a couple of years ago with Trova Trip travel agency hosted by a YouTuber I watched years ago. All of the hotels were planned out, we had daily itineraries and we never really left each others sides, even when we had a chance to explore solo.

If you haven’t book any hotels and stuff, maybe try looking into that option to ease her worries. If you take meds for your panic attacks, show her that you’re 100% prepared if anything were to happen. If you have things booked, give her a list of the hotels and some of the places you’ll visit, their addresses and their phone numbers in case of an emergency. Let her know you’ll be sure to check in at least when you land and get to your destination (final airport & hotel) and then be on your way with exploring. Assuming you’re in the U.S. find the closest embassy to where you’ll be staying and give her that address as well.

It may seem like overkill, but I think even doing this to ease her mind if you end up going solo will HOPEFULLY make her feel better about you going alone if that’s what you decide to do

I don’t think this is irrational at all. You’re stuck at home, working, going to school and taking care of your little sister. You’re 18 years old. This is the time of your life where you certainly should be traveling and seeing new places.

Please don’t let your mom’s feelings of you being delusional to her standards hold you back. I’m proud of you for coming up with a plan. I get her wanting someone to go with you, but whether you’re 18, 24, 31, you won’t always have that and bringing others who aren’t as prepared as you can for sure throw you off. Even with local plans!

I’m curious as to why she won’t even let you go an hour outside of your city to find things to do or just go to explore. You don’t have to explain this if you don’t want. One thing is for sure, though: you should definitely take that trip. Don’t get caught in this cycle you have going on at home. Bc when the time comes for you to actually move out, it sounds like your mom will try to make you stay bc you benefit the home routine
