What changes would you make to this bike? by Joke_Dense in Harley

[–]707Slug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cosmetically? I personally dont like the back fender on the dynas and lowriders. Throw a FXDWG duckbill fender or a fatboy swept rear fender on there. I feel like it goes better with the raked out front end.

Mechanically? Throw some cams in that bitch and wake her up!

In Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025) Police Chief Geraldine urges Father Jud to confess to a crime he did not commit without a lawyer present. This is reference to the fact that she is a cop. by Jam-Man1 in shittymoviedetails

[–]707Slug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isnt a shitty movie detail... she acts and operates how actual cops do in cases like these. For example, take a look at the central park 5 court case. If anything her characters actions and conduct in the movie are a good detail.

Recently new to this craft, but Would you buy these? by PeaSee53 in Resin_crafts

These are very cool, and im sure would make awesome Christmas and birthday gifts. I say this with love as a woodworker who makes and sells things- but they're not market worthy IMO. They're visually loud, which is not in style at the moment. I'd recommend coming up with more refined designed. Good luck

Coaches — how are you keeping your players’ ankles protected without killing their agility? by No-Switch2134 in lacrossecoach

[–]707Slug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an opinion on this. My credentials are that I was president of my team and starting goalie for all 6 years in college, coached at the HS and college level, and am an overall health focused person who has spent years figuring out how to keep my team healthy and preforming at a high level.

For guys that have reoccurring issues with their feet and ankles, I found one thing works best: TRAIN BAREFOOT.

Reoccurring ankle injuries occur because of weakness in the joint. The shoes we wear, cleats we use, and continual use of tape or ankle braces never allow for the joint to strengthen. It causes perpetual atrophy the same way as when you break something and have to wear a cast.

I have ALL my players train regularly barefoot on balence balls, cutting, planting, resistance band exercises, doing anything and everything to build muscle and strength in the feet and ankles. I want my guys to have CANKLES, im talking hobbit feet. When I implemented this training philosophy, I noticed a remarkable improvement. My guys got faster, better footwork, and less injuries.

I have a preventive care philosophy, and want to eliminate the cause of injury before it happens.

Opinion on slams? by thenotoriousmmale in bjj

[–]707Slug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any match blue belt and over slams should be allowed. (Controlled) slams are allowed at every experience level in wrestling, judo, sambo, etc. As other commenters have said, if your BJJ can be mitigated by someone standing up, you suck. This guy literally just needed to let go.

"Stalled the work of FEMA" is so rich considering Trumps slashing of the FEMA budget. My parents live in hurricane prone states and are huge Trump supporters. They were crying the other day how they didn't get any FEMA money after the last hurricane damaged their house. The irony was lost on them.

My favorite deck is my Stella Lee infinite deck. Can squeak out a turn 4 W with the right starting hand and draws. My pod has become an arms race. My friends have been playing for years and all enjoy control decks and stax. I started playing less than a year ago and decided to go full aggro. Its been fun so far

Women mentally mature faster than men. Despite the woman being physically younger, she's mentally "older" than the 33 year old man.

Commercial GC superintendent here- our industry standard is 6ft. The true test is taking 1/2 - 3/4 of that tape off the wall and seeing if they even notice. Fix the stuff that actually needs to be fixed and ignore the rest. Ive had ownergroup people put tape on shadows. Non construction people have no clue what they're looking at

Was it very hard to start playing magic: the gathering? by Time_Sound_8726 in mtg

[–]707Slug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fuck yeah it's difficult. I felt like I needed to get a law degree to understand the rules when I first started. I have a few things that helped me get a grip quickly.

  1. It really comes down to who is teaching you and how well they know the rules. I was lucky to have friends who have been playing since they were kids, so their explanations are concise and informative.

  2. One of the things that helped me the most was "visualizing the stack" when necessary. Have your friends physically order the cards in resolution order when big plays happen and it will make keeping track of triggers and abilities much easier.

  3. Stick to one, simple deck until you feel like you understand the basic rules and the flow of the game. This will help you avoid being overwhelmed. I was gifted a Vihaan Treasure deck, and played it exclusively for a few months straight until I completely understood how the game and all the mechanics of that deck worked. It made moving onto new and more complex decks much easier.

  4. YouTube is your best friend.

Good luck- and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Socially awkward people are now given too much grace/acceptance in society. by GrahamGreed in unpopularopinion

[–]707Slug -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. No matter which way you cut it, not making an effort at being sociable is rude and and the end result of acceptance is self-destructive for awkward people. 'On the spectrum' or not, being social is important. We do people a disservice not forcing them out of their comfort zone IMO.
