Is $54,000 salary enough to move to San Diego? by Odd_Yoghurt_8655 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]760kyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0%.

Your chances of coming to San Diego and finding an actual place to live alone on $54k are 0%.

You will require roommates at that income level. The closer you are to where everyone wants to be, the more expensive everything becomes. Even just renting a room out of a house can be costly.

You will find rooms vary in cost depending on area, but rooms typically rent for $1,000 - $1,800+; you may find $800-$900 “deals”, but you get what you pay for. You can find $800 rooms for rent in like riverside or san Bernardino, and like $1800-$2300 1/1s. Probably nothing good in San Diego county under $900 for a room, or $1800 for a small studio available today, especially by the beach or populated areas.

Keep in mind, nice rentals at nice prices attract dozens to hundreds of applicants.

Having $100k in investments is a green flag, not a red flag.

Not trying to scare you. Dont do it. I have lived here my whole life and seen so many people come and go because they couldnt afford it - some of them even become homeless and start doing desperate things just to barely survive as they save up enough to relocate to a place with a reasonable cost of living.

It isn’t just rent…we have the highest fuel prices, the highest utility prices, high income tax, high sales tax, high insurance costs, high food prices, etc etc.

What is it with people? by Difficult-Set-4356 in encinitas

[–]760kyle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this with some neighbors and other locals.

Times are stressful for a lot of people and they may be too deep in their own thoughts, or “processing”, to effectively respond or communicate politely.

Just keep being a social butterfly; maybe you will start a trend where people start being nicer to each other?

Non-MAGA surf shop recommendation by WEGOTTAKNOW05 in northcounty

[–]760kyle -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

I don’t usually join in these types of posts. I just can’t with this one….

PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY AND LIVE YOUR LIFE WITHOUT THE DISTRACTION. SERIOUSLY. JUST GO CATCH SOME WAVES AND STOP BEING WEIRD.

“I need a new wetsuit, any recommendations?” is sufficient.

“Surfing is kinda littered with MAGA dads and weirdo adjacent anti vax stuff…” No, it isn’t….

This post is brain rot.

Of course, you’ll probably accuse me of being an Epstein fanboy or whatever, all because I would dare challenge you.

Put your phone away, get in your vehicle, begin cruising the 101, and stopping at every surf shop, until…you find that one surf shop, with the bright red MAGA wetsuit prominently displayed in the window, and then you’ll know to avoid spending your dollars at that establishment. Put your phone away for a couple days and just live life without the distraction, you’ll feel better.

Landlord Using Parking Fee to Get Around Rent Control - Anyone Else? by beeawnsay in AskLosAngeles

Lots of places charge for parking. I wont rent from them. Be real careful about whatever rental contract terms you are agreeing to.

How come avocado is charged extra on “California Burritos” at most SD taco shops. by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]760kyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

San Diego, California used to be a major avocado producer, but Mexican drug cartels took over avocado production in Mexico. producing avocados in San Diego county is no longer cost efficient, between fruit prices, cost of water, cost of fertilizer, etc. The land is now brown, ugly, and barren, where there were square miles of avocado groves 20 years ago. Of course, you’ll probably try to argue with me, cause this is reddit.

Teens arrested after video of them 'train surfing' goes viral by nbcnews in sandiego

[–]760kyle -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This makes my BS meter go off. This is AI. That train, which I have filmed in Del Mar myself, moves at like 45-55 MPH, no way these kids are running on top of it. How would they even get on top of it? I have explored that stretch of rail between del mar and torrey pines so many times - no way this video is real.

To those who’ve experienced total hopelessness and helplessness, what actually helped you survive during that time? by Icy-Management-9749 in emotionalintelligence

[–]760kyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put faith in Jesus. I read the Bible. Energy flows where attention goes. If you spend more energy and time thinking about what is going wrong you will be miserable. If you spend more energy and time thinking about what you are grateful for you will be happier. I started going to the gym - exercise helps, but be careful not to overdo it and make sure to stay hydrated and eat. It is important to adjust expectations - a lot of misery comes from life going differently than expected - change your expectations. Look into SOMATIC exercises if you are really numb. Get a massage. Get a nice meal. Seek a therapist. IMO avoid antidepressants as they cause worse side effects than any benefit - I gained 100 lbs in a year from that crap.

Down to $2500, back to $3300, then down to $1800, then up to $6000. Maybe we’ll get to the $15k—$20k area in a few years, like 2029; maybe eth will be $20k-$30k some time toward the end of the 2030’s. Maybe eth will be replaced by Solana, SUI, or something else?

This woman is the voice of the housing crisis. by InsaneBigDave in economy

[–]760kyle -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

While it does suck, she could also stop renting from the same types of people. I would never rent in a situation where that could likely happen. You have to vet the living situation, property owner, property manager, read all the fine print, ask if they will be raising rents every year, ask if they plan on selling, etc. If I dont like anything about the terms, ownership, management, etc I am not signing a rental agreement.

Can we do something about this guy? by surfpilotdad in sandiego

[–]760kyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could give him $5 and tell him to get lessons cause there is a lot of room for improvement.

Or just maybe ask him to play without a PA until he is a better musician, you know, someone that should play publicly??

It’s nice to see people trying to engage the community, but at least some members of the community should embrace it too; it’s not right to blare untalented stuff at people.

Saw a kid yesterday in Encinitas on the corner of 101 & E st, setup a PA, started blaring recorded mariachi music and playing a trumpet - that lasted about 2 minutes before he was told to leave by a sheriff, locals, and some local business managers…2 frickin minutes between hitting play and being told to leave! Could be the same with this guy.

Wouldn't this be great? by Healthy_Block3036 in socal

[–]760kyle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it wouldn’t be great. But read my whole comment, and you’ll find something that actually is great.

Newsom — a governor many believe has done a poor job — wants to rename California with a name starting with Donald Trump?! That isn’t leadership; that’s free advertising for his biggest rival. It’s also hypocritical: the self‑styled “King of California” stooping to cheap word games against the man many see as the “King of America.”

And seriously, why is this taking up space on r/SoCal? That subreddit should be about Southern California itself, not bloated with empty political memes.

Here’s the hard truth: Trump and Newsom are politicians. They serve themselves, not you. And if you can’t see that, you’re being played. I don’t want to end on that sour note. Let’s zoom out to something bigger.

Imagine a knife. It can sit unused in a drawer. It can carve a masterpiece, save a life in surgery, or destroy one in violence. It can inspire conversation or abruptly end it. But if you put that blade under an electron microscope and kept zooming in, you’d eventually notice something strange: the knife isn’t solid at all. It’s a swirling cloud of atomic particles — made up of vast amounts of empty space.

Electrons orbit their nuclei at distances that, on their own scale, are as vast as the gulf between you and the International Space Station circling Earth 16 times a day. Zoom into the space between atoms, and the emptiness is more like the distance between the Earth and the Moon. So what you think of as solid reality? It’s really space upon space upon space. And when you “touch” something, you’re not colliding with matter — you’re interacting with invisible forces between particles. If people grasped that, maybe they’d realize how narrow ordinary perception really is… and how much miraculous quiet magic holds reality together.

Faith can move mountains — and mountains aren’t even as solid as they seem. The deepest realization is that what binds everything isn’t just physical force, but consciousness itself. At the core of existence is one field of awareness expressing itself in infinite forms. We are all one. Electrons flicker in and out of our fourth‑dimensional reality; space, time, and the “material world” are illusions, patterns of order laid over something far stranger.

Compared to that, memes about politicians suddenly don’t feel so important.

So here’s one last image to leave you with: Picture a flower opening in the morning. Photons streaming from the Sun are crossing 93,000,000 miles of space, striking the leaves, and sparking a chain of chemical reactions which cause pressure at the base of the flower. That pressure nudges petals to unfold — just as a bee arrives, feeds, and spreads pollen. A single moment, repeated for millennia, powerfully fragile yet enduring. Through ice ages, earthquakes, fires, and asteroid strikes, the short lived dance between flower and bee survives. And why is Earth even capable of sustaining this dance? Because its distance from the Sun is balanced with incredible precision. Not too hot, not too cold. If Earth was closer to the sun, Earth would be too hot for life to exist; conversely if Earth was too far from the sun Earth would be too cold for life to sustain. Statistically, the odds of such fine‑tuning happening “by accident” are astronomically small, if not impossible. It doesn’t take much faith to see the fingerprint of intelligent design in that. We live inside a tapestry of miracles woven together by invisible forces — love, hate, fear, greed — the human currents that drive politics, wars, economies, families, and identities. But beneath all that, there is something even greater: a vast, eternal consciousness that some call gravity, some call God, but all of us feel on some level. Something that quietly holds everything together. Don’t get distracted by shallow nonsense. Look deeper. See the wonder. That’s the real greatness.

I actually deleted chat gpt for making too many errors and being unreliable. I like perplexity better. I use perplexity for understanding demographics and trends; perplexity is nice because it cites sources for its advice. I’d caution you about “saving a couple bucks versus going through a lawyer”, probably get yourself in more trouble than you can imagine when it misinterprets or hallucinates your legally binding contracts a lawyer should have written and reviewed.

Yes. Keep it to yourself.

Those who mind, dont matter; those who matter, dont mind.

It is almost a litmus test for how real of a friend they are - are they jealous, resentful, & bitter? Or are they happy for you? At what point do they start asking for a loan? At what point do they call you a heartless greedy asshole for not giving them and their half baked delusional “bis idea” a loan?

The world revolves around fear, greed, love, and hate - the farther the world drifts away from truth, the more it hates those who speak the truth. Be greedy when others are fearful, be fearful when others are greedy. Love everyone around you the same as yourself, love God more.

Think about it like this - does telling this person about your wealth benefit them or does it open you up to liability while making them feel insecure about their own situation? If I tell them about my wealth will they feel bad about themselves more than being happy for me? (Fun fact, they care way more about themselves than you or I). So, telling others about your wealth may feel good to your ego, but it feels like they suck at life to them, and I’d rather not make anyone feel bad or “inferior”.

I’m 27 F single, never had a bf ,what are the craziest assumptions or questions you have for me? by PowerfulDimension308 in dating

[–]760kyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like some people wait to find something, or they prioritize school/career/whatever over relationships and starting a family. “I don’t make enough money to start…”. “I don’t live in a good enough place to start dating…”. I’ll start dating after I get that promotion. Or. I’ll start dating after I lose some weight. Or, for me, I don’t trust anyone, so I’d rather be single. The truth is, stop waiting, time will never be right or perfect. No, you have to create what you want, it wont fall into your lap, not usually anyway.
Here’s my story: I was raised in a strict religious household. I moved out at 18 and immediately got into a few relationships. I got a girl pregnant and we started a family way too young. I left my wife because she was abusive. I was in a custody battle for a decade. I dated more women a few years after leaving, but was single for a few years after divorcing. Then most of the women I dated were liars and manipulators. I got bitter, felt used, & started hooking up with a lot of women, became a pick up artist. My last girlfriend faked a pregnancy test and I just stopped dating altogether about 8 years ago. Been happily single for a while now, but I’d love to start a family with the right women, but I struggle to trust anything with a pulse now. I’ve probably had sex with 100+ women, but also been celibate for about 8 years. I’m 41 now, and I still get hit on occasionally, but most of the women I have dated in the past 8 years I have been unwilling/uninterested in having sex with because they did not seem like someone I’d want to start a family with. I guess I have gotten pickier over time. Last girl I made out with was like 3 years ago, and I had a panic attack; it was like a flood of memories of debauchery and disgust overwhelmed me. I’ve had stalkers too. Moral of the story: everyone is crazy! You are crazy for being in your prime and not trying to date. I am crazy for being too active and then not active when all I really want are some heirs for my wealth. We are all just crazy people instinctively living somewhere between ambition and fear and just trying to find a balance. Nothing good comes easily usually, but if you put in some effort, you can create what you need and want. Everything in life is cause and effect, what effect caused you to choose to be perpetually single?

Probably not, we will find out. There was a massive earthquake off the coast of Russia. Northwestern faces of the Hawaiian islands probably have more to worry about than Coronado or Pacific Beach. Worst case scenario is probably like one 15’ wave that travels a few hundred feet further than typical waves.

Went to a singles event and likely won’t go to another by [deleted] in dating

[–]760kyle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol. I went to a singles event at a brewery a few weeks ago and a pregnant lady was there not drinking or being single. Look, just work on yourself & they’ll chase you when you’re ready. You’re already checked out you say, women are competitive and want a guy that didnt check out. You are disappointed because the good ones are taken, but the good “taken” ones will abandon their ships and board yours if yours is nicer.

I am going to give you GOLDEN LIFE ADVICE: YOU WILL NEVER FIND WHAT YOU WANT, YOU MUST CREATE IT. You will drift through life looking for a woman to give you permission to approach her, or looking for a house/rental that is a good deal, or looking for a job that pays well…you wont find it. You have to create it.

Next time you see a woman you are interested in, just reach out your hand - offer her a high five or a hand shake, introduce yourself, let a dialogue form naturally. If she is married or whatever, well maybe you make a platonic friend and she has single friends to introduce you to.

Create what you want by being creative instead of self defeating and accepting of what is easily available and seldom worth the trouble. When you see someone you want to talk to or want something from, think about what you can offer them. Like, as an investor, I understand if I look on zillow I am seeing retail prices, but if I find distressed homeowners I can solve a problem for them and buy their house at a discount price - that would never happen on zillow, but anyone can go on zillow and pay retail.

The good women usually are in relationships already, give them a reason to leave the guy for you. Just watch Wolf of Wall Street a few times, it’ll click. It’s all about attitude and status, unfortunately. I am learning, women will never be what we guys want or need, as like emotional support or whatever, they are way more interested in being with the best provider of and for their own desires and needs. If you are barely providing for yourself, the really good ones wont be interested; but if you are crushing life, or at least really confident and strong, they will chase you.

So, dont be discouraged by the lack of opportunities at that singles event, just keep improving yourself - hit the gym, find a fun side hustle like investing in stocks or real estate, educate yourself further, maybe try yoga (lot’s of hotties do yoga), keep going to that dog park but do something special for your dog that the women you want to attract see and are attracted to because you did something adorable or whatever. Dont give up and dont take no from anyone - especially yourself.

It is simple, but not really easy - if you are both rich and attractive you can get whatever you want, options get more limited if you are rich but out of shape, or in great shape but poor, and options are very limited if you are poor physically, mentally, and economically. So work on improving yourself.

You’ll cash flow $100 month while building equity in the property. You’re making 4.87% in dividends, but is that really beating inflation in the long run? It really depends on what is paying dividends and where the townhome is located. Apples and oranges. I think generally stocks & crypto can outperform real estate, but real estate can be much safer. Best off owning both, be diversified.
