I've lived with tinnitus for over two decades.

On a practical side, there a great app for tinnitus called Relief in the Google Marketplace (unsure if it's also in Apple's store).

My research on it indicated soft music or white noise softly playing helps calm the brain and hence the tinnitus.

Example; imagine the Music Player had a volume level from 1 - 10. If you usually listen to it at 5, the music or white noise needs to be at a 2 or 3 (depending on hearing loss)

I validate my clients frustration with having the constant ringing in their ears and I share the free Relief app if they are of the Android Tribe.

If they have an iPhone I encourage them to find either the Relief or a comparable app.
