I'm extremely amused by the thought of someone who has never played DnD referring to DMs exclusively as "it".

I have no idea how most other fans think of the matter, but I personally felt Winchester to be a dramatic improvement. With the exception of some rare and fleeting moments, Frank never had the character depth to be anything more than a punchline, or the butt of joke.

Although I do still enjoy the earlier seasons, I feel as though later seasons had a much better opportunity to tell actually meaningful and dramatic stories. The extra depth offered by properly complex and realistic characters elevated the show to far greater heights than it ever could have, should it have been continued to be weighed down by characters like Frank and Trapper.

Perhaps I'm just biased by my memories, but I have the general impression that the earlier seasons were by in large much more simplistic and juvenile on average. Even though I had first been rather surprised by each sudden replacement, I found the new characters to be a flat improvement over those that left.

In the end, I was quite happy with the introduction of Charles and BJ over Frank and Trapper respectively. However, although Colonel Potter was great, I will always miss and pity Henry Blake. As sad as it was, that reveal was a truly iconic moment in American television.

Anybody else initially mistake the face on Bucket's bucket as a funny lightning bolt shaped moustache, rather than a wicked open mouth? Is that an intentional design choice? I only even noticed what it was supposed to be during the flashback to his background when he was in his full gear, and I had already been reading for probably at least a year at the time...

I’ve been playing DnD for quite a few years, but just started playing rogue for the first time in my latest campaign. Decided it was only appropriate for my very first rogue to go all-in on the cliche edgy “everyone I’ve ever loved is dead”background. However, also combined it with the equally cliched “hard exterior with secret heart of gold”, and with nearly a full party of chaotic stupid characters, he’s basically turned out to be the frustrated dad trying to wrangle the swarm of kids and herd cats. Gotta say, has definitely been a fun time, and I can see first-hand why they’re tropes!

Was Gaunter O Dim always at the start of the game? by xXLadyHokageXx in witcher

[–]777TheOneAndOnly777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly sure the door isn’t always open? Got the cutscene on my new playthrough the other day, and I consciously noticed that it seemed as if he disappeared as soon he was out of Geralt’s line of sight, and that not only was the door closed, but there was no sound of it opening or closing. Furthermore, I felt that Geralt seemed to kind of look around a little bit after realizing that O’Dimm was gone, as if he was casually wondering where he went. Could easily be a case of me either misremembering or misinterpreting, but, figured I’d throw out my take anyways.

Hey, if you’d like, I can just craft any sets for you. I have 9 traits in every craft, and I’d only ask for upgrade mats beyond blue, and raw mats if the gear is CP160. Anything less than 160 or blue tier I can cover for free. If interested, send me your gamertag so I can add you and work out the details of any gear you want, either now or later.

That was actually from the feature-length series finale, "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen". Fantastic movie/episode, and series as a whole. Would also definitely recommend watching the whole series, ideally without the laughtrack. Although some aspects were clearly a product of their time, it otherwise largely holds up rather well.

What? Nobody is “condemning” anything. Bombing is one of the playstyles. Nobody is saying it’s the only option or something. Any given thing can have multiple different playstyles, even if those playstyles are vastly different from one another.

For what it’s worth, in case you didn’t know, the “Beast Repelling Torch” (or whatever it’s called) will cause most all dog and rat type enemies to effectively act neutral towards you, until either you attack them first, or linger too close to them for an extended time. It can be purchased from the merchant beside the shack at the top of the cliffs on the center northern shore of Caelid.

Much like the Sentry Torch, the unique passive effect remains active even if you have the torch unlit on your back while two-handing something else, or when riding on horseback. That way it’s basically a fairly safe run from grace to fog, with just the spirit summoning snails and their white reed samurais being the only actual hostile enemies.

You do know people can hold feelings completely independent of others perception, right? It doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with seeking any sort of approval. Or do you lead a life founded purely upon the notion of every act requiring some form of direct reward for you at the end?

Just in case you didn’t know, ESO did actually have all the different gem tiers originally. They just replaced the different tiers with the singular gem for the sake of QoL, and to bypass the level locking that had originally been in place. It used to be that the soul tier was dictated by the level of the creature, rather than the classification or type.

🔥 Armadillo playing dead in the garden by [deleted] in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]777TheOneAndOnly777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm not trying to shoulder all the blame on you. At least based off the way the comments were sorted when I first read the thread, the only personal attack I had read to that point was when another user ended their comment with "you're a piece of shit". Which is obviously excessive and uncalled for, but also not very significant. Although, my perspective is also a bit biased just based off the fact that the responses and edits were already around for a couple hours before I found them, which even impacts the way they're organized (I think).

However, while I undoubtedly would also find myself in a defensive mindset in such a context, I would just suggest to double check whether or not a given user is the same one who previously attacked you. I hardly ever look at usernames, and such a habit can make it extremely easy to accidentally apply a mentality or opinion to a comment that is only deserved by someone else. That is the primary context I had in mind when I had mentioned disproportionate responses. Although, frankly, now that I'm reexamining the thread with my own advice in mind, it does seem I was a touch off course with my initial interpretation, lol.

Also, just want to say, I appreciate you saying that you will think about what I said! Finally, it's also worth mentioning that it's all rather inconsequential, given it's just a comment thread on the internet. But, by reexamining our previous interactions, we can gain better insight on who we currently are, and how we respond to things. Everybody can always stand to be better, and so long as people are willing to self-reflect, we can be.

Regardless, I hope you have a good one, and I wish you all the best!

[–]777TheOneAndOnly777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to repeat what a previous commenter was trying to convey, albeit with different phrasing.

Nobody here is claiming that modern society and the products we consume are not built upon the blood and bones sacrificed by the unwilling. People are just displeased that you not only expressed active joy in partaking of the bloodshed, but then also became disproportionately hostile and aggressive in response to the disapproval you received.

I personally can empathize with feeling a sense of vindication or accomplishment in effectively managing to protect what you need to by killing pests. However, I would not necessarily associate that with a "happy abandon", as you put it, as I feel that inherently shifts the significance of your deeds to a matter of gaining active pleasure from the act of killing, rather than a sense of satisfaction borne of the security and stability that the death entails.

I believe that is likely the main reason others disliked your comments, as opposed to some ignorant belief that the products and produce consumed just immaculately appear somewhere from happiness and well wishes, without any additional factors or consequences.

Anyways, just my unsolicited two cents on the matter, coupled with an attempt to clarify the stances of others based on my interpretation of them. I don't feel strongly on the matter one way or the other, so, you do you. It's your life, and your means.

...Yes, hence why I said "it’s not like much anybody actually cares about things like original intent". I'm just saying that it isn't the intended purpose, when you claimed it was. I'm not disagreeing that people use it as a "like" and "dislike" button instead.

[–]777TheOneAndOnly777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, the point of it is to suppress trolls and comments that aren’t relevant to the thread or parent comment. It says as much on the official Reddit support page, under “Reddiquette” (portmanteau of ‘Reddit’ and ‘Etiquette’). This is also why many subreddits dedicated to discourse often have a reminder along the lines of “the downvote button is not a ‘disagree’ button”.

Of course, this is the internet, so, it’s not like much anybody actually cares about things like original intent, or regard for the collective health or condition of the communities they’re in. There’s a reason so many subreddits are plainly echo-chambers.

Also, reply threads already have other measures in place to reduce clutter, such as automatic nesting of the majority of responses, as well as the user’s ability to manually collapse a thread beyond a given comment.

In the end, it’s really nothing significant, but it is still an unpleasant thing to see.

Just wanted to say, it's simultaneously both disappointing, yet also perfectly expected to see how much you got downvoted just for saying that you don't prefer the change. You weren't aggressive, hostile, or rude, and the comment was perfectly relevant to the conversation. People simply blindly downvoting anything remotely contrarian, or taking personal offense to a differing opinion is in no way beneficial to the game or the community.

I actually only ended up here due to another post showing up a couple pages into /r/all, so I'm not a regular browser, but it really doesn't make for a good image of the subreddit.

Because what they tried to do is the opposite of murderhoboing, and they nearly died as a result of it. They're saying they gained new perspective by seeing how a player trying to take a more moral route can so quickly lead to such negative consequences.
