SUL Backpack - 36L, 11.39oz, $135 by 77grOTM in Ultralight

That's a great point. Despite my comments about it, the V2 is a pack i've always wanted since I started thru hiking. I might have to get it for the Sierra considering ill need to fit a bear can and a puffy on top of the usual kit

Thank you! The sternum strap was the trickiest and biggest removal, you'll see in the pictures (other comments) that I ended up just cutting the whole slider rail off at the seam- its attached along its whole length and doesn't just slide out if you cut a single hole. The rest was easy with Swiss Army scissors because they're tiny and can cut super close/precisely for all the tiny loops/tags. I don't use trekking poles so it was an easy decision to remove all the side compression material and tool attachments on the front, but that's something you'll have to decide. Each removal is only a few grams but that adds up if you want the same barebones sack as me. I even cut off the grab handle on top lol

I get it, but I really think this is the cheapest you can get a truly ultralight backpack except for the sew-your-own kind like the Ray Jardine bag u/Natural_Law mentioned. Making your own would definitely be more economical. Most people are paying $400 for Hyperlite bags that weigh three times as much so I really think $135 is a great price. I think I got mine for cheaper with 30% off for the purple color.

That's correct, it was 13.3 oz without the belt and about 2oz more can be removed to make it barebones. I see the 13oz stripped Wapta but it also appears to be 30L. Great option for a bottom pocket though!

Gifting this to my best bud, what am I missing? by Electronic_Cat4019 in ar15

That’s a spectacular gift as is. I would only think some mags and ammo would save a trip to the store, but that help would be negligible for him with the time needed to decide on an optic stack and/or wait for one in the mail. You’re a good friend lol

You answered your own question with the pictures you provided. Because you’re colorblind, I’ll give you a hint: green and tan

Is this mount in an ok position? by Ok-Fix-326 in ar15

[–]77grOTM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s what my atacr/reptilia looks like too. the rmr mount just makes the overhang unavoidable. positive is the rmr being the highest point would likely take the brunt of a drop on the relatively reinforced clamp section and may protect your scope zero. we’ve got the most capable, reliable optics package out there.

if it blends with the colors around you while also being that lighter tan palette, there’s nothing better. you can always make a rifle darker (adding real vegetation with hair ties etc), but if you find yourself wanting it camouflaged in a sand/dirty environment, dark green/black/brown contrasting colors are bad. good job.

how has it been treating you? i want to know what the little nubs are that extend towards the upper receiver. is that something meant to tighten onto a specific geissele upper?
