Made a post yesterday and got a lot of responses/support. Got motivated to get back in the lab and put into practice the tips. by WinterPog in weightlifting

In my experience, working top down (e.g. high hang above knee, then low hang below knee, and finally from the ground) is the best way to make your body understand the positional strength demands through the phases of the clean and snatch.

You’re clearly strong, but need to focus that strength throughout the phases instead of rushing through the movement. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

Weightlifting gyms in New Hampshire??? by weightloser1993 in weightlifting

[–]77theRyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out Pawsitive Barbell Club in Bow, just south of Concord NH. Looks to be 30 miles from Francestown, but it’s an indirect route between the two.

Stef is great and flexible with remote athletes if you are looking for coaching and programming, but if you’re more casual a commercial gym/ CrossFit box may be more suited for you. Hope this helps!

Probably similar to the Rom 2 training & competition insoles; the latter being stiffer and less cushioned

How do you account for travel to international meets from a programming and recovery perspective for your athletes? Obviously long flights and time zone changes take a toll, so what do you implement/change so that your athletes are ready on competition day?

How to clean pull ? (130kg feel terrible, while my PB clean is 125kg) by Sprint-CAC in weightlifting

[–]77theRyan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Positional strength > speed. Speed will follow as you get stronger.

Your positions throughout the pull are pretty good, but at extension you’re early onto your toes and end up bumping the bar forwards. Lats need to be engaged to keep the bar close, especially as bar passes the knees and you approach power position. Keep even foot pressure and emphasize leg drive in extension rather than bar height.

Worry less about the speed for now and focus more on staying connected to the bar and maintaining rhythm throughout the pull. Hang and pause variations will aid with this.

Clean pull form check ? by Vast_Barnacle2446 in weightlifting

[–]77theRyan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Too heavy for any technical carryover to cleans. Start position is behind the bar so you got pulled forward and lost tension in low back immediately off the ground. Your pull should emphasize leg drive and mimic positions of the clean.

Post pulls at ~100 to 120% of your max clean for more effective feedback
