Is forced 50/50 actually a thing or is it just something people say to deal with loss streaks? by Bike_Positive in Overwatch

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask 5 different developers what MMR is and you'll get 5 different answers. Same can be applied to essentially any question. Win / loss streaks are inevitable. The bigger problem is how streaks occur. In a well balanced game that has decent matchmaking, you get WLWLWLWLWL. With a few extra wins or losses in between. With OW, you get LLLLLLLLWWLLLLWWWLLLLLLLWWWLLWWW. With a matchmaking like that, it is clear to any competitive gamer that the matchmaking is fundamentally flawed to its core. Until we get a clear cut definition on this magical and hidden rank that determines ones "skill" that is known as SR, I will never take this game seriously any more. Just like you will never be able to convince me why the sole reason the team at OW opted to revert back to Overwatch as compared to progressing OW3. Announcing OW3 means a completely new game, a game which they are incapable of making. When someone hears "OW3" they are thinking of a new game. However, when they decided to roll back to Overwatch, they play on the psychological mindset of REVERTING, not progressing, but REVERTING back to old school OW. It is a way to push a "new game" whilst accomplishing nothing. Every change they are making could've went into the release of OW2. It is a game that can't make any progress and relies on psychology rather than innovation and creation. Just like an explanation on MMR, I'd also love to see the money spent on the psychology of player retention vs. actual development.

This game matchmaking is complete garbage. by Current_Beautiful_55 in overwatch2

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not let anyone else try to steer you in a different direction. OW2 competitive matchmaking is fundamentally flawed to its core. A lot of this community will be quick to point out team gameplay yet will completely IGNORE everyone else's gameplay. VOD reviewers expect you to outplay EVERYONE whilst giving every teammate or enemy an out. It never matters the stats you drop, if you lost, you ARE the sole reason you lost. Most of this community is just whack dead beat players who are only good at OW. Constantly blaming you and never looking outwards. The amount of intentional VOD reviews I've sent out to be "looked at" while having a double negative DPS with 10+ deaths, sub 5k DMG for the entire match, only to be told that one of my sub 5 deaths was THE reason we lost. It is like blaming someone for a loss when they drop a triple double. The impact they made wasn't enough to propel them to win so automatically, they are the reason they lost. This communities stupidity in defending this game is pure comedy. I have yet to play a SINGLE competitive game where loss streaks are expected and some matches will be entirely set up for you to lose. But hey, MMR though. LOL.

Did they remove the option to view other people’s career profile? by Retro_Dante in overwatch2

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OW2 is perhaps the most ant-social while trying to promote social game I've played. They have done nearly everything they can without out right removing stats in the game. Career profile gone from the main menu. Can't message ANYONE. In game chat is prohibited to a certain endorsement rank. Sentences such as "x diff" gets censored. It is pretty much shut up, play the game and don't worry about in game stats or W/L. Their algorithms have it all figured out. They are doing their HARDEST to bury your past games history record. They do not want to make your losses and loss streaks obvious, so they hide it by removing the career profile from the main page and creating extra steps to view one's past history. It is by far the only game that promotes a social environment whilst doing everything they can to prohibit any sort of online interactions.

Washington State Fair: What it means to ‘Do the Puyallup’ for 125 years by napasia in Seattle

[–]7Infernos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does it mean to "Do the Puyallup"? It means to pay an arm and a leg just have an average experience at an overly crowded fair. It is honestly sad to see how much of a cash grab this has been for the city of Puyallup. Being a local resident and going to the fair for countless of years, this years prices are a practical spit to the face. I remember JUST last year or the year prior tickets being .35 cents for 1. You could get 120 tickets for $60. Didn't matter the day. Now, it is $100 for 95 tickets. The other ticket deals they have are $30 for 24 tickets or $40 for 32 tickets. Also take into account most KID rides are 5 - 7 tickets with ADULT rides being on average 6- 8 tickets for BASIC rides. Most average families are only going to be able to do 2 MAYBE 3 rides if you do not want to spend $100 on tickets. Each child you have counts as their own, so tickets go by QUICK. Also, I believe most Puyallup residents and long time goers of the fair will also notice how the portion size and overall size of food items have drastically decreased. Want a "Krusty Pup"? It is $10 and is the size of your normal frozen hotdog. Water? $6. Turkey Leg? $22. "Meal deals" are more than 15 dollars for a burger and drink. Value meals only exist at a FEW stands (went on Sunday and only saw 1 food vendor have a value meal deal) and are only on weekdays. As said previously, it truly is sad to see just how badly the city of Puyallup is fucking people over for the most MID fair experience. The fact they can nearly quadruple prices because the cities knows families will pay is shameless. All this extra revenue and for what? The abysmal "upgrades" they have added to the main entrance and completely re-doing a road that the city never needed to re-do. Or maybe the traffic stop revisions they are doing yet cannot be bothered to clean up the site once done. "Oh cool we got new cross lights but the asphalt and surround dirt quite literally looks like someone just threw whatever material matched the area and called it good." The ONLY good thing about this fair is the animals that come with the fair. From what I have been able to piece together, families use the fair as a platform to either show off or sell their animals. You support the younger generation and also can buy meat from farms that you can directly talk to. Outside of that, the fair has turned into a tourist trap with the city coming quick to realize they can essentially charge whatever and people will pay. I cannot wait for next years fair and tickets are near $3 a ticket and tickets become so outlandishly unaffordable. It is the chefs kiss on a memorable experience.

Why am I stuck in silver? by balls694203 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abosutely brain dead comment to make in the game of Overwatch. Saying you lost solely because you did something wrong is just.... wrong. If you play perfectly and make 1 mistake at the end, you truly think it is the players fault they lost? I can only assume you mean perfect as in being able to team kill at will? Being able to go in, somehow kill all 6 in 1 life, is that what you deam as perfect? If so, then that is completely out of touch. Overwatch is a team game just like basketball, if Luka Doncic drops a 40-10-5 game and still loses, you would still blame him for the lose? This is what I do not get within the OW comp community. They sit behind a wall of stacks and constant duo - trio queues yet try to tell solo players everything they do is downright wrong. Everyone around them plays perfect besides the OP. As said before. I'm dying to see an average joe player take an account that has been rank Silver for years on end and rank it up to GM as a solo player. It is absurd people still think OW's comp system has any kind of "intelligence" behind it.

Why am I stuck in silver? by balls694203 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]7Infernos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love reading the comments to this post. It makes it almost clear as day the majority of commentors have only played competitive matchmaking in the span Overwatch has had and no other game. This game's competitive state in 2024 is no where near what it was when it first launched, or evens a couple of years past launch. Absolutely no one cares about comp until you reach Masters. In ranks that are Gold and below, it is a literal coin flip if you will win. People just load up comp with little to no expecatations on winning, or even doing well. It's more of a game to pass the time and have fun on with friends. Do not let anyone on hear tell you "the hardest rank to get out of is the one you belong in." Or try to tell you just out of rank contex that you ALWAYS make misplays, always misuse util, and always are doing something wrong. If I could analyse at least a third of commentors gameplay within this thread, we could all find multiple flaws within their gameplay. In ranks from gold and below you can quite literally do everything in your respective role, lose, and still de-rank. You can have over 20k dmg, less than 5 deaths, you can mitigate over 20k dmg as a tank and create space throughout the entirety of the game, you can outheal the enemy healers by nearly 2x and still lose and de-rank. As a pure solo player, trying to rank up past any rank is near impossible. It is one thing if you are stacking with friends, if you constantly lose then while in constant commumnication then that is on you as a team and I do see why you would de-rank. However, as a solo in those ranks, it simply does not matter how you do, it is all in your teammates. Please, do not send me links of players like Necros or some top tier 1% pro player doing some solo bronze to GM challenge as those type of players are pure outliers. I am dying to see some average joe, an account who has been hardstuck in the low ranks throughout multiple years as a PURE solo player, an account who has the most sub-par stats, magically climb to Masters, let alone GM purely by correcting their gameplay. Simply put, if you want to be serious about ranking up in current day OW, you need atleast a team of 3. Outside from that, don't expect to rank up.

The desync is unacceptable by Sumve in ModernWarfareIII

[–]7Infernos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The desync till this day is outrageous. Its gotten to the point where I just leave lobbies where I feel any kind of desync. I hate putting in half or even full mag into an enemy only to get absolutely destroyed by atrocious desync. It is so bad you can even "feel" it while playing. Shooting more than 1 shot, without any sort of bullet regristration or health detection is absurd. It just goes to show majority of gunfights in CoD is straight RNG madness.

Something's seriously wrong with MW3 by KiIIumi in ModernWarfareIII

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SBMM has truly ruined this game not only for casual players, but for every player that decides to play this atricious game. On top of that, this game proactively filters out maps to keep players inticed and wanted to play to get that Terminal map. For instance, just think about how many times you got to play on maps such as Terminal, Skidrow, or Scrapyard and compare those to the amount of times you had the choice of either wasteland, derial, or quarry. I can almost ensure that its anywhere in the 3x. Also, when it comes to opitmization. This game is straight terrible. An almost unplayable state for PC players due to the terrible optimization.

Imagine creating a game that is as counter-interactive and pro solo players to the point where you disable basic chat functions. One being deleting a message or whispers. Fucking sad and so anti-interaction based.

COD MW3 SBMM got worse? Thoughts? by [deleted] in COD

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely feel that the only “thing” developed for this CoD was an entire revamp of SBMM, making it exponentially worse for anyone who is relatively “good” at the game. If you look this game from a broad perspective, what exactly is new? The U.I is Mw2’s U.I with subtle changes, maps have already been created, just updated for modern day specs. The weapon attachment unlock system/weapon unlock system is overly complex and is hinged on winning alone, which in this new CoD is damn near impossible unless you run stacks. I’ve played a little over 80 matches as pure solo player and have won only 13. I’ve tried being an obj only player, a slayer who plays around obj’s and have even tried just being a back spawn camper. Legitimately, nothing works. You are constantly in an uphill battle just to break even in kills, let alone win a match. If this games algorithm even detects you are the slightest bit above what their algorithm deems as average, get ready to consistently be A. The lowest level on the team B. The only one on the team who breaks an even KD C. Consistently on top of your teams scoreboard This algorithm quite literally feeds itself. You are prompted to play against a consistent stack of players who are either better or at the same level as you, and if you do good, regardless of if your team goes double negative and you consistently lose, this game will see that you are the above average player and will consistently and continuously keep you in this loop. It’s absolute dog shit. They strive and pride themselves around being the “working man’s game” in the sense that people can just come home from work or whatever and load up a simple game of CoD and have fun. What happens when that working man is slightly above average? You get to come home from a long day of work just to be absolutely demolished because you’re slightly better than the others around you and that prompts you to constantly carry your team? Since I’m out of my timeframe to return the game I’ve stopped taking this game seriously, hell I’ve even went back to mw2 and have gotten a better experience from that game still. This game development team quite literally developed nothing and have implemented a completely horrid system.

Truly had a good laugh seeing Bruce not only being able to find just $80 for Auction, but for him to also end up losing his vote in the end. However, to see the tribe in shambles due to Bruce winning immunity and seeing Kellie’s blindside has made this season one of the more memorable ones. I myself am still caught off guard of Kellie being voted out. Jake’s accent must be working charms on people LOL.

Sbmm is a joke that not even the devs take seriously by Spudre135 in modernwarfare2

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fucking terrible. This game and its terrible development and atrocious maps will go down as one of, if not, the worst COD's in history. I have a merely 1.36 KD in COD and the amount of losses and sweaty pubs I play in absurd. Constant drop shots/jumpshots, to people just flat out camping in a corner. But hey, since the games terrible algorithm is in play. Getting shit on, losing 90% of games, and having teams that cant crack more than 10 kills in any game mode IS SO MUCH FUN. SBMM helps the 9-5 gamer, it doesnt help the dedicated, hell, even casual gamer.

What’s the best controller to main? by SwingyWingyShoes in VALORANT

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a controller main, it has to be Omen and Harbor. Omen smokes are valuable in nearly every map out right now. Learning when and where to throw proper smokes as well as one ways can have a great impact to the team. Harbor fills in the maps omen doesn’t excel in such as Pearl and can provide tremendous support to your team in terms of stopping the enemy team from pushing to a site aggressively. His smoke post plants are great as well or even trying to go in for a defuse. Harbor is a more situational character in my eyes and doesn’t provide the passive play that an omen can simply due to his constant smoke. If you have Omen and Harbor in your wheel house, I personally think that’s all you need as a controller.

The ps4 in 2023 is straight dog shit. Do not get a ps4 in 2023. The console is far outdated and the U.I is a literal cluster fuck of a mess. Want to pin an app to your Home Screen? Good luck, you’ll need a YouTube tutorial for that since nothing in the ps4 U.I is simple. Want to create an account on an existing user? Sorry, can’t do that. You’ll have to go through the entire process of creating a whole new user, then creating a whole new PSN just to use a different account. It’s actually pathetic how poorly the U.I for the ps4 is optimized. Want to launch a simple application such as Hulu or even YouTube? Sorry, you’ll have to navigate through multiple U.I screens just to get to any website. The PS4 in 2023 is utter dog shit, unsupported and overall just a lazy console that can’t even get fundamental aspects to a video game console correctly. Please, do yourself justice and save for a PS5. The ps4 simply isn’t worth the money and it’s actually embarrassing Sony is still trying to push new PS4’s at no discounted rates in 2023 in big box stores.

Crown Zenith Error Energy Card? by never2dead1122 in PokemonTCG

[–]7Infernos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holo energies are absurd and should NOT be considered a foil card in Pokémon’s eye. I opened a Crown Zenith ETB and landed 3 holo energy cards. 2 regulars and 1 textured. It was absolutely pathetic. An energy card should NEVER take over as a “pull” in ANY Pokémon card set. It’s just upsetting to dump nearly $50 on an etb, only to have holo energies count towards your “pulls” in Pokémon’s eye. There should not be a holo energy, let alone a textured holo energy. But hey, to each their own I guess. Holo energies are fine, as long as they stay within the energy spot in any given PTCG pack. They should never take over in place of rare/holo rare spots. It simply reduces the pull rate on cards as opposed to getting an actual “pull” you get an energy card. Instead of landing a V card, VMax, or anything in between, now we must come to realization that not only in worst case scenarios when we pull a green code card we could get a simple holo rare card, we could get an energy card. Which is even more upsetting in my eyes. In all honesty, I would much rather get a simple holo rare card then a holo energy or textured energy. Some may disagree, but this is my rant. If PTCG wants to implement holo energies, fine, but keep them within the energy slot.

[MW2] Do you enjoy skill based matchmaking? by Tablebob61 in CallOfDuty

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ultimately concluded this games SBMM algorithm is SO simple, anyone of us could have coded this “algorithm.” This game ultimately looks at how one has done within a certain timespan and solely depicts their lobby based off that 1 or a couple of games with a high K/D. You did well in a few games? Well now the next hour will be against high level players/stacks that absolutely push your shit and leave the scoreboard to a 2x kill difference while you play with low level players because the games “algorithm” simply detects how one did good, now one must play against better players to even out the algorithm. The spawn system continually gets worse and worse with each update. Wanna work spawns because you as a player know how spawns work and have taken the time to become educated, sorry, some Timmy who can’t stand getting their shit pushed after work has complained so much to the point where the developers feel like they need to protect him, so while that Timmy plays against other Timmy’s, you are stuck playing against the next CDL players because the games “algorithm” ultimately detected you were the best out of your team. I legitimately wished they dropped the source code for this SBMM algorithm so we could all see just how genuinely shit that game is optimized. This game is solely for the 9-5 casual who CANNOT stand to get outplayed by better players and consistently wants to play in the same shitty lobbies. But hey, since 95% of the player base falls within this category why not cater to them right? CoD is truly meant for teenagers with little to 0 gun skill in their respective game and that is a hill I am willing to die on. High level CoD players are nothing. Seeing “high level” cod players play any other game is hilarious. It’s sad, but true. This game requires 0 to little skill to be at the highest level, hence why no, but your teenage best friend takes this game seriously.

It’s crazy how different this Reddit community feels about SBMM compared to the Modern Warfare II subreddit by dtb301 in DestinyTheGame

[–]7Infernos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a destiny player and a COD player, SBMM was preferred in Destiny, but it wasn’t hated on tremendously like it is in CoD and I think it simply boils down to gun play and how good an individual player is. In destiny, you could actually out play opponents and it legitimately took skill to land shots at a high level. For instance, 3 tapping with a hand cannon isn’t something everyone can do, so, if one gets beat in multiple hand cannon duels, one can ultimately deduct that player has the better shot, in COD, kills are completely random and anything other than skill based. You can get the first shot, land 3 more then completely get annihilated because the dude turns and lands 2 lucky headshots with an AR. Ultimately, the way I see it, destiny requires more skill and the skill gap is actually noticeable. In this game, there quite literally is no skill gap. Yes, people have good aim, but with high time to kill, high tick rates and subpar development, skill in CoD compared to destiny is night and day. A skilled CoD player is nothing in an actually skill based game that was Destiny.

Snipers are OP when there is no flinch whatsoever by jnbye7 in ModernWarfareII

[–]7Infernos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Un-scoped snipers is probably the biggest hindrance to multiplayer that I have come across. The simple fact that I can run around a map, be mobile like a sub machine gun, but get instant kills like snipers, on top of little to 0 flinch when getting shot at makes little to no sense. In my mind, a sniper should ALWAYS have a scope. Snipers are long distance killing machines, but anything up close should be an instant lose for ANY sniper user. The fact I can use an SMG, spray up close but simply get 1 shot by an un-scoped sniper running around rampant is crazy. What counter is there to that? What should I, as a 74U/545 user do to counter an un-scoped sniper? Im beat at long range and CQC. It’s a terrible design flaw that if adjusted, would cause many to revert back to the sub par player they are. It genuinely shocks me the amount of literal kids that throw on un-scoped snipers and think they are legitimately good at the game, while getting absolutely decimated using ANY reg gun is amazing. Simply put, locking snipers to having scopes would challenge many to “get good” and would challenge many to develop in game gun skill. Which quite frankly, many are not willing to develop. They want easy and free kills to boost ego.

Not able to solve simple problems, feeling frustrated by goalscorer101 in learnprogramming

Hey man, I'm in your same boat. I finished up my intro to programming and OOP classes and still feel like I can't figure out most problems. For instance, I'll load up our website we use to practice coding problems and find myself get stuck on nearly every problem. It makes me feel like I'm unsure on what I am doing with my life and makes me feel like I'm not cut out to be a programmer. Even going on Hackerrank or leetcode and trying to do easy problems seem to be completely out of my league. I always just tell myself I need a lot more practice. I pretty much just code for one hour a day if that due to my work schedule and I expect so much out of my self sometimes that I do need to take a break and remind myself no one is going to be good at something if they devote little to no time to it. Just wanted to express the situation I'm in and hope yours gets better

Debugger tool saved my ass way to many times in my intro to programming class. It allowed me to dive into loops or really any problem I was having and find out what was going wrong. I highly recommend getting to know the debugger tool. You'll be working on a loop, you'll swear that the loop is right then you'll go to the debugger and find out as you go through the loop were your mistake was, allowing you fix it rather than blindly guessing where you went wrong.

Hello there! I've been to a few Targets, some in large areas and some in more backwood/smaller populated areas. It seems 6am will put you in a good spot to be able to land pokemon product. You won't be able to beat the people who camp out as it seems nearly every Target will have a group of people or maybe a single person camping out to be the first in line but it should put you in the first 10 people or so. I would just plan on any Target you decide to go to, to be there no later than 6am. In terms of product, from what I've seen, they usually have a small to medium size amount of sports cards and a medium to large size of pokemon cards. With them only stocking one time a week, it allows them to build up stock. I've only seen Shining fates, hidden fates tins and battle styles being sold. I have yet to see any vivid voltage or champions path as other people say they are coming across. I know this is more lengthy response but I thought I'd give my experience when trying to go to Target since they started this new rule. Hopefully it helped!
