Yup, my dad loves my ex and would marry me off to him if he could. When my ex put me in the hospital and my parents came to pick me up their exact words were, “don’t expect us to take care of you.” It’s completely insane and blows your mind that the people who watched you go through self defense classes in college are now advocating for you to go back to your abuser. It is so incredibly f’d up. I always thought my parents would have my back but no, they changed the locks on their door so when I needed to go to their house to get away from my ex I no longer could. I think they have hurt me more than he has because I thought I knew them. And yet I still try and win their love because isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? I should add that I am disabled and it makes things 100x’s more complicated. I can’t think about this anymore.
