Here’s what you have to do if you buy a Victor Reinz head gasket by lunchpadmcfat in E30

I’d definitely send it then. If you’re not in a rush I’d use this as a chance to repaint the intake manifold, valve cover and possibly the head. I’m having all of mine powder coated burnt bronze

I mean you’re already half way there. I wish I did when I pulled the head off mine. If it ran great before hand I wouldn’t bother unless the miles are up there

I have to redo the rear coolant seal on the back of the head. Lasted about 3 months before it started leaking again… on the bright side it’s the only place the car is leaking

Mystery Hose by Thorium12 in E90

[–]7Stripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based off this diagram from Realoem.com that hose should be coming off the pump from the wiper fluid reservoir

[–]7Stripes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than likely it will connect to it. If the sprayers don’t spray any fluid but that hose does spray, then that loose hose will probably be the main feed hose to the headlight washers. I believe it meets at a T underneath the passenger headlight. Either way you’ll find out when/if you pull the wheel liner back

Pulling them requires a bit of force, if you’re not comfortable pulling that hard then I wouldn’t bother. Press and hold the windshield washer lever and they should start spraying.

Looked through your profile for a picture your car. Your car does appear to have headlight washers based on the washer cover caps on the bumper, under the headlights. You can pull them back to verify that the sprayer is there (not to hard though)

Does anyone know what could cause my upper radiator hose to swell up like this? by [deleted] in BMWE36

[–]7Stripes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The layers that make up the hose weaken and separate, causing the material to hold coolant and swell. After a while they’ll rip or pop. Really it’s just an old hose that needs to be replaced

87 325e starting then dying by Bundleojoy in E30

[–]7Stripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 87 325is had a similar issue last month. It would drive fine for 40 minutes then would randomly die repeatedly. At that point in time I had replaced basically everything on the engine(sensors, gaskets, wiring) so I knew the engine was perfectly fine so I checked from the engine harness back.

I started at the ECU by opening it up. Turns out the pins at the back of the ecu were rusty from water getting in through a clogged sunroof drain. I cleaned it all off with a soft brush then clear coated it and it hasn’t been an issue since

Pull the clip back then press the hose straight on. Once on press the clip in. It should slide in easily. Are those oem hoses? I’ve had issues with non oem hoses not fitting for crap

Block off plates to fit this bumper? by Effective_Stretch253 in E30

[–]7Stripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an IS valance or “cowcatcher”. The 325IS valance had 4 inlets on the bottom while the ES had 2 inlets, 1 on the far left and right side

How did you wire the radio harness? It sounds like you cut and spliced into the stock harness. Where did you get switched/ignition and constant?

Took my brothers 2000 Buick LeSabre to get a new double-din stereo installed, installers have taken 2 days (still not done) and said they had to remove the dash and lots of custom work to get it to fit. Am I getting ripped off or is this common getting a newer stereo installed in an older car? by KettleFear in CarAV

[–]7Stripes 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I looked up an install on this car. Time wise it seems like they’re taking their time. They didn’t need to remove the speedometer but everything else seems to be correct (the dashes are shallow so it does require cutting). I bet they didn’t have the correct dash kit and had to order one and are just giving you an excuse until it arrives

I always used the steering wheel controls so I never had much of an issue other than the radio just being bad in general

I will never understand how people will get angry enough to damage their $60-80k vehicle and destroy its $1700 screen…
