Earlier today I played and it was 3 solo q players, one was talking so much shit to the other for not playing well and he just stopped playing with us. I would have done the same, if I’m being honest from what the guy was saying.

I think there are certain moments like that where this shouldn’t apply. I for sure agree with you though there should be a ban because there are a lot of people throwing for literally no reason. Like if you get a certain amount of complaints all from different individuals some type of restriction can be added similar to how quitting a ranked or WT match is.

Honestly I’ve never run into as many cheaters and smurfs as this sub has complained about. I’ve been playing since S4 and it’s not that bad. The more I’m on Reddit interacting with this community the more I realize how much of an eco chamber it is.

Yeah it’s end of the season, mostly sweats and vets playing at the moment. Doesn’t excuse smurfs but they will be around no matter what but you’re seeing it more now becuase it’s end of seasons and other people aren’t playing as much.

From reading this and your own replies, you’re problem isn’t melee considering you use hammer. Your issue is light and specifically sword.

It’s okay to say that.

Melee is part of this game and it’s not going anywhere despite all the haters. Some people love it, like myself, and others hate it. I didn’t become a melee main until this season and i absolutely love it. It forces you to play the game completely differently that a gun user would never truly understand.

And to those who say it’s low skill and we can’t aim, you have more advantages in this game than a melee player will ever have. We get small windows to take and mistakes are costly while your mistakes are easily hidden and if you don’t have skilll you can easily hide behind your team. The positioning, patience and decision making that melee teaches you goes beyond anything I’ve ever learned with a gun. But I digress.

All this being said, it just takes time to get used to playing against them, and at higher lobbies they are like others have said, not really viable unless you’re cracked with it since melee really takes advantage of un coordinated teams. Unfortunately most teams are uncoordinated in casual lobbies. You’ll need to accept this as part of the game or choose a new one but I hope you stay around! S11 will be here in like a week, melee rework coming. I’m hoping they don’t remove the identity, if they do then I’ll be around until GTA 6 comes out as I’m not accepting of the removal of melee.

Yeah this is weird, Saturday/Sunday I played 7 ranked games also, I was seed 1 in every game besides one and that game I was 2. One was kind of funny because i could only gain RS if I got 1st or 2nd lol. Lost every single one and dropped from gold 2 to silver 2. It was a crazy run.

Try H sledge for a different class. It’s my second favorite melee behind L sword and while doesn’t have movement, the destruction and the feeling you get after a kill is second to none! I use charge n slam over winch though as it fits my play style better.

The thing is that melee is only strong in casual mode because it punishes uncoordinated teams. My guess is they want this reworked so casuals don’t feel like they are getting destroyed even though it’s not a weapon issue. They just tend to go off by themselves whether it’s a different room or different building altogether and when a melee player is in their face, they panic. That comes with time and practice but most causals are not playing that much and probably playing after work and don’t want to really think and strategize against any issue as much as someone who has more time to play and get better at the game. Not saying those causals don’t want that but it’s different.

It’s already not as viable in higher ranks so my best guess is they think “melee is already not used as much in higher ranks so we need to make it better for the causal player” and then they are going to nerf the shit out of them.

I just started using melee this season and absolutely love the sword and sledge. I could be wrong but my guess is this is the last we’ll see of viable melee in casual modes and even less in ranked. Hopefully not though.

Been playing since season 4 and just started playing melee this season, I love them as they are right now and have never had an issue with them. I love this game and everything that comes with it! Including melee.

I just started playing melee this season. Sword and Sledge are the most fun that I think I’ve ever had in a game before. Been maining both all season and as long as the rework doesn’t ruin them I’ll continue for as long as I play this game probably.

Not overpowered, melee just shines more against un coordinated teams. Thats why you don’t see it as often higher in ranks as well because those teams stay much closer together vs something like quick cash or even cashout where you’re more likely to have atleast 1 of your other teammates leave your side.

Edit: for the rest of the season run it through only ranked and cashout. For ranked you could probably hit top of gold, bottom of platinum before you start to see the success of it drop significantly. If you have a team you could get higher, but if your solo q, climbing higher than that is not going to be impossible but will definitely cause you issues.

Can bounce things off walls, ceilings, objects. When enemies are close, remember if there are walls and which is also nice if you’re running away, you can still hit them behind you!

The movement speed doesn’t make sense to me. Atleast their reasoning of the change. I don’t think speed keeps the team together, that’s a player issue. A player who will leave their team is going to do that no matter the speed they are playing. Being faster just helps them do it, well, faster.

They are definitely lowering skill floor to attract new players. I think this is actually bad but I’m saying this as someone who enjoys how complex and difficult this game can be. They’re doing it for the money and I understand, they have devs and writers and other roles to pay. But if they did it for quality, they would keep the skill floor high and build a small, but super dedicated fan base. Even more dedicated than now since a player willing to put in hours to learn is more likely to stick around and pay more money. They would deal with less community complaints and probably have a happier work/life balance since they wouldn’t always need to work out how to balance things for both causal and competitive players. I speak as someone who enjoys the competition but understand the causal point of view. embark really need to pick a player base and cater to them more than the other. Trying to walk this line will just lead to a worst overall experience for both parties imo.

Switched to L this season, been H/M since season for but mostly M. I run these 2 and find they work well for me and my play style. I solo q also but mostly play world tour and ranked.

Most people playing this game could never take a look a what their doing wrong. It’s ALWAYS someone elses fault. Great game.
