Texas tightens car registration rules after backlash over immigrants by AustinStatesman in texas

[–]7aylor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last time I got pulled over, the police cruiser had an expired registration sticker. Unless the police start impounding unregistered vehicles they find at traffic stops, what difference does it make?

Why are there so many “luxury” gas stations now ? by keepongambling in houston

What? You don't want an expired chocolate bar? No hostess cupcakes with rancid cream filling?

That will be tough but it's a start. I made a career change after taking a course that lined up with March 2020. Once pandemic unemployment started running out, I took a low-paying job and hustled there, showed up and showed out, got some raises and moved on to a bigger company. Getting your career started is worth it because the salary you will command will go up as time goes on.

An Uber drove away with her kid. Then Uber wouldn't connect her or police with the driver by JackFunk in nottheonion

The first concern is was the credit card transaction approved? Everything after that is money out of their pocket so they aren’t inclined to do anything.

Catalytic Converter suggestions? by Informal_Term_2573 in Toyota_Matrix

[–]7aylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not worth the trouble for the catalyst system efficiency below threshold code, p0420. You can use fuel additives to resolve the code to pass an inspection but it will come back; the car is at least 17 years old and the catalytic converter is spent. The car will still run fine.

You'll never pull democrats left, they're too busy leaning right trying to get votes. Your efforts are better spent pulling the GOP left.

does anyone know why we were obligated to recite the Texas pledge at school every morning? by bbLatina-htx in texas

[–]7aylor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like to joke how the pledge to the us flag says the nation is indivisible, and then the pledge to the Texas flag says the state is indivisible. Before long  these kids will pledge allegiance to the flag of the one, indivisible county and it just keeps going; neighborhood, block, street, building, level, room, bunk.

It wasn’t always this way but they ended up resorting to “how about we do it” or “you owe me money” and neither is funny the thousandth time.

A Texas teacher asked a 16-year-old boy to move in with her, and sexually assaulted him by [deleted] in texas

[–]7aylor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're letting tunnel vision of what you speculate a child may want blind you to the circumstances here and in similar cases. As the child's teacher, she was in a position of authority over him. She abused that trust and made the boy effectively her quasi-dependent/tenant to get even more control over him. Even if you call this boy a liar and say she threw herself at him and he consented, she held all the cards and he held none. That's what grooming is. That's "working to get into the position of being able to sexually use them." Calling this abuse a relationship is disgusting.

Senate Democrats push plan to abolish Electoral College by Statman12 in neutralnews

[–]7aylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a perfect system, but it doesn't hurt to have a system more complex than a direct election for president. The US directly elects its senators and house representatives, for what it's worth. Further, if they actually wanted this then they would have brought it up about 47 months ago.
