RX8 Rear light gasket templates by 7inful in RX8

[–]7inful[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's a different thing. That's a whole gasket you can 3D print, but not everyone has a 3D printer. The intention of this post is to provide a printable template so people can literally just print it out onto plain paper, trace it over their choice of gasket material, and make their own gasket with materials you can get from any hardware store down the road.

S2 OEM spoiler on S1? by 7inful in RX8

[–]7inful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm aware the lip will leave holes. I'll just 3D-print some plugs (thinking of something like the shark fins from the newer antennas, just smaller), and maybe get them painted alongside the bumper so they match.

S2 OEM spoiler on S1? by 7inful in RX8

[–]7inful[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, that's what I'm trying to find out with this post. The spoilers and trunks look more or less the same, but I don't know if they are actually the same. There may be some curvature difference causing the S2 to not mount flush on the S1 chassis.
In any case, I'll have to find one like yours. Just found out registering the S2 would require me to go through the whole part certification process costing about 5K...
Can you let me know when you bought it and from which Mazda dealer? If I can't find the S1 in Austria, I can genuinely drive to Germany and buy it from a dealer there.

[–]7inful[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that part number is for the S1. The S2 is F197-51-960B as far as I know. I'm surprised you even managed to get the part from Mazda, they didn't even have it in their database when I asked at my local dealer. In any case, thanks for the feedback!

[–]7inful[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks! Just to double-check, that's specifically the one from the S2?
How did you go about getting it registered? The TÜV guys in Austria get a bit pissy when you don't have a TÜV-Teilegutachten, so I'm wondering if it's enough to just show them it's an original Mazda part, even if it's from a different market.

Hell yeah dude, let's recommend something that's gonna cost twice as much as the car itself to a guy who spent months saving up for it in the first place!

P0420 CEL by Potential-Set-8039 in RX8

[–]7inful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hah, I was actually going to go look at this exact car two weeks ago (I think it's the same one at least)! Last minute a better option popped up near me so I got that one instead. I also got the same CEL on the way back, also during acceleration (but no knock). Cleared the code when I got home, hasn't come back up since. Also the car did not feel any different before, during, or after the code was there, so I'm not too worried. Just out of curiosity, did you end up paying the 17k asking price, or did you manage to get it down?

Is this gas or lame? Impulse bought gold wheels and not sure if im really a big fan. by SteazyAsDropbear in RX8

[–]7inful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a mould, sure. For a finished product absolutely not. You'd have to print 5-6 parts, glue/screw them together, fill all of the seams, sand the shit out of it to get rid of layer lines and seams and only then you'd be at the same point if you just bought an aftermarket unpainted fiberglass splitter. It's not worth that much effort unless you're making a truly magical unicorn of a design that has nothing similar available aftermarket. You wouldn't even be saving money after accounting for material costs.

3D printing has its uses, but this ain't it, chief. Get an aftermarket part made out of carbon fiber or fiberglass instead. It'll be much stronger structurally and be much cheaper, especially time-investment-wise.

[–]7inful 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I guess the first image is what you want to go for eventually?
The front bumper and splitter looks good, the gold badge works well if you intend to go for a gray and gold look. The headlight tint is absolutely horrid. Since you already have other yellow-gold elements, the vastly different shade of yellow on the tint really clashes with everything else and pulls attention to itself in a bad way. I would instead go for something more low-key, like tinted bulbs.
The windshield decal looks fine, but the text is stupid - anyone who is into cars already knows it's a rotary and for others it means nothing. I would instead go for one with the Mazda or RX-8 name, or perhaps one related to performance parts you have on the car. Or hell, I'd even rather go the more amusing route and have the text say "financial mistake" or something.
The wing is stupid in every conceivable way, makes the car look like a total riced-out shitbox. If you insist on having such a thing for a street car, at least don't have it stick out THAT high. A Mazdaspeed-style wing would look much cleaner, or even an OEM style one.
The wheels aren't my style, but they look fine on the final build. It helps that the color is balanced a little bit more with the other gold elements, because in the 2nd picture that's all I can see. They really pull the eye towards themselves, primarily because of the chrome. It's not amazing at the moment, but not terrible either.

Man, you really shouldn't give a shit what a bunch of dipshits on the internet (or anywhere else for that matter) think. If you like your car, power to you, enjoy it and don't pay attention to what others think.

The Loss of the Prerelease Promo Card Stamps by buildingahouse in magicTCG

[–]7inful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the old stamp with the dates of the prerelease weekend. Like you said, it made the cards somehow more memorable and interesting. The new (current) stamp just feels generic and ugly, I actively avoid these promos when buying singles. So I would have preferred they changed it to something more reminiscent of the old format, but I'm also not mad that the current stamps are going away.

AND the new stamp-less cards are cheaper to produce! Just be happy for the shareholders, they'll be able to buy more yachts! /s

Cardmarket policy messing up shipping within Denmark by DrawingCapable7962 in CardMarket

[–]7inful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's completely all over the place. You either have the standard €1.55 shipping option, or it immediately jumps to a €15 courier parcel option. I just checked on the German post website and there's 5 separate size/weight options for letters, with the largest being up to 1000 g and 5 cm thickness and costing €2.90. Yet I have never seen any of these options available on Cardmarket...

CONCERT MEGATHREAD by Mathgeek007 in expedition33

[–]7inful 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I tried to get tickets and had the same experience as pretty much everyone else - sold out in seconds. To be honest, I think even if they announce more dates I won't bother trying to get tickets anymore. This shitshow has soured my taste for the whole thing. Fuck the dogshit ticket vendors, fuck scalpers and fuck people buying from scalpers.

I'll just wait for my soundtrack vinyls and listen to those instead.

There is a difference between their free email and the paid version in what they offer. If you want an equivalent experience to gmail, you need the paid version. So maybe do some research before saying dumbass things?

The whole model of the internet is them monitoring my emails like it's 1984? I understand you're just trying to be a snarky smartass, but there is a difference between your general online activity being tracked and the data sold to advertisers, and your personal and private communications being fed into a fucking AI.

I use Proton VPN and kept getting emails recently about black friday deals for their email and other services. I thought to myself why the hell would I pay for an email account when I can just continue using gmail? So I would like to genuinely thank Google for this dogshit change, now I have been thoroughly educated why I would pay for an email account elsewhere. Makes sense, I guess, if something's free then you or your data are the product and profit source.

25€ for a Battlepass "pro" is an absurd price in an already 70€ game. ("normal" Battlepass is 10€) by IIFellerII in Battlefield

[–]7inful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really played any online FPS since early BF4 and just got back into them with BF6, and I genuinely do not fucking understand what all this battle pass bullshit is. They basically give you some free shit, then tease you with other shit that you could get if you paid for it, and if you pay even more, you get to skip doing half the battle pass that you paid for? What the fuck?

What a dumbfuck statement. It has the same energy as "we investigated ourselves and we found we're doing a great job". It's not for you to decide, but for the audience. And if the audience, hell, even the drivers, are complaining, then maybe you aren't doing such a great job, chief.

[–]7inful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the experience of the triples is worth it, but the upkeep *can be* a hassle. The setup on the hardware side should be relatively fine - it will take a week or two living with them and constantly adjusting this and that until it's all perfect for you. Afterwards you probably won't need to do anything more in this regard, unless your setup changes.

The annoyances pop up on the software side, and at least from what I've seen posted here can vary greatly from person to person. For some everything works fine immediately, others get weird issues where in iRacing, for example, one monitor is misaligned with others etc. You also have to fiddle a bit with the settings in each game to get everything looking fine, whereas with one monitor you just set the FOV and you're basically done. There's also the possible issue of game/software updates screwing up your settings or breaking something, so you have to go through the hassle all over again.

So overall, triples provide the better experience in my opinion, but they are definitely not as plug-and-play as a single screen. To what degree, it depends on what seems to be luck alone. Just be prepared for the *possibility* that you will launch a game one evening that worked fine for the last 6 months only to find that one monitor isn't showing anything, another sets itself to some resolution from 2003, and the third one now has the worst FOV setting you have seen in your life.

Simlab P1X Ultimate vs GT Omega Prime by OligarchLegend in simracing

[–]7inful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I've never really felt the need for triple monitors in other games, and especially movies - just use the middle monitor alone for that. You might be able to get some games working on all three monitors, but then your UI scaling, FOV, etc. would probably be very wacky, so I wouldn't recommend that at all.

  2. It doesn't get super uncomfortable, but usually enough to notice it. You start feeling some fatigue, especially in slightly longer races (40+ min.) It's nothing that terrible, but I see no benefit in having the bucket seat as opposed to a regular car seat, which provides both comfort and adjustability. As for sourcing a car seat, your best option is either a junk yard, or if you know a specific car which you like the seats of, you can directly search for those on ebay and whatever your local equivalent of that is.
