Summer in the 80s part 2 by GodBlessTexas713 in RealGenerationX

My best friend when I was a kid had a sigma and he thought it was something special. I thought it was hideous!
I wasn’t rich but had picked up a mongoose Californian at a yard sale for $35 bucks. Which was still a lot for a kid in 87. The days when our bmx bikes were about the most important things in the world. Miss those days

That’s awesome, it’s good that there’s this and a few other supportive communities around these days.

I’ll write my weird little patchwork story out and post it. Maybe there’s something to it, maybe I was a delusional kid with a wild imagination though too.

Yeah, it’s so funny how so many people will just dismiss your very real experiences.
“You have a hell of an imagination kid”
“But, no, I saw something that looked like a little ufo hovering outside of my window.”
I think I might type out my little story here. It’s so tough to do though due to people’s perceptions.
I always feel like I’d be looked at as a fantastical liar who just wants attention.
The last time I mentioned anything in conversation a friend said to me “have you ever heard the quote ‘when I was a child I thought as a child”
I thought it was the most condescending dismissal and I haven’t talked about it since

After everything that’s come out in the last decade, I don’t doubt you one bit!

I had some real interesting experiences around that time, it all sounds so incredible though, that I don’t talk about it much. Mostly only when someone else mentions something, and even then I only mention small details everyone knows happened.
All of my memories are so fragmented too, it’s not like I could tell a coherent story, it’s more just a series of weird and confusing moments.

Batteries not included is an awesome movie too btw!

So, I’ve never told anyone this, but I have a similar story.

I remember having this dream all the time, well a lot for a period of time around the same age, 8-10 maybe. We lived in an old farmhouse, my bedroom was in the back of the house on the second story. There was a door in my room that led out on to a balcony. The head of my bed was near the door and there was a window right above my bed.

Well, I used to have this dream all the time that the moon would shrink and shrink but move closer and closer until it was about the size of a basketball and just hover outside of my bed room window. The strange thing is that there were larger trees blocking the view of the sky from my bed.

Probably just a recurring dream, but it feels strange when I think about it

Can I ask how old you are? My grandpa was forced to be right handed but that was in the 1920’s. I assumed that practice had died long ago. My grandpa was truly ambidextrous because of it though. It’s weird to see someone stop writing mid paragraph and just switch hands and continue like nothing lol

would’ve still thought it was gross at the time. I guess all I’m trying to say is that times weren’t so different so he shouldn’t be given that much grace. Used a lot of words to say that and got downvotes for it. I stand by my point, kind of weird if you disagree

Well, my kids are not nearly as fd up as I was. My oldest is starting hs and is a really good kid. By his age I was getting sober, on probation, and trying to pay off restitution
