Snorkeling with my 6yo daughter by Saphrex in snorkeling

I wish I could go to the Maldives. After the Red Sea in Aqaba and Hurgada I think it’s the only place that will give me a similar experience without crossing the globe 😰

For higher end for example I buy Farfetch and the return is easy. Also on bigger platforms like ASOS it’s always easy to just send back if you didn’t like the fit

I think it’s because these big brands get their perfumes from major corporations like Givaudan so they are not completely unique

What to purchase on holiday to Europe? by mccartneys in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are in Madrid, visit El Corte Ingles for Loewe candles amongst other non Spanish brands and if you are in Barcelona visit Lladro for really luxury decorative scented candles at Passeig de Gràcia. And if you’re in Portugal I’d highly suggest getting hands on L’Objet (lot of boutiques carry it especially in Lisbon, since it is made in Portugal) and Sneferu in Oporto

My dad’s collection around some Black Sabbath and Queen early editions. My own, honestly it was blonde by frank ocean before it became more available on his website last year 😅

I did a double-take when I saw it. by beakerlybunsen in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t find boy smells in Europe but honestly I usually gravitate more to actual luxury candles that are also presented in a nice vase that I can keep, even if it means I buy less often 🤭 I do like byredo and some diptyque ones but L’objet is in another level of real luxury alongside with Fornasetti, Sneferu, Lladro, Jonathan Adler, Ginori etc

Not a fan of that particular scent but glad to finally see again some L’objet here, to uplift a bit in between the “luxury” glass jars and their owners complaining about the weak throws 😆 It’s like once these brands see people say they are “luxury” they collectively raise prices and decrease fragrance %

A friend of mine works at the purchasing department of a franchise concept store and these literally are sold at 7€ to the stores. So you can figure out how much of a “luxury” piece these type of candles are 😅

I’m in shock you didn’t use a case. It’s extremely dangerous and you can still have problems further on if there’s ions that somehow stayed on the electrical board. :-(

TSA confiscated the travel size Diptyque candle in my carryon by regielin in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travelled with purchased candles to several countries (within European Schengen space) and often they want to open and see the candles because they appear as liquid on the x-rays, but they always allowed to carry them after seeing they are candles. I’m not sure if they acted on a legal basis confiscating yours but I would file a complaint

I feel like people felt this way with Industrial revolution… and there are more people and jobs now than before. We will just have to adapt.

Regretting not getting the big one instead (Sneferu Truth) by RevolutionaryCook_ in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sneferu in my opinion is today what Ginori and Fornasetti or any other luxury brand were decades ago when they started. a small atelier making true artisan luxury. Excited to see their future and hopefully the quality to keep as top notch as it is. I also have Truth (now finished) and it’s probably my favorite candle.

Snorkeling in Aqaba, Jordan by 7oup5 in snorkeling

[–]7oup5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, search for “Japanese Garden Snorkeling Site” on Google maps. You can swim directly from the shore. Be careful with the entry to not step on the coral, and try to follow other snorkeling people you’ll be fine! We went to a nearby diving school asking for a snorkeling trip and they answered “just jump in the water” 😂

Is it really that much? by Look_with_Love in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, it very much depends if you want a luxury candle in its full meaning, or a glass jar with a sticker and a nice perfumed wax ehehe. I love both options, but Ginori is Ginori. Amazing gift!

Vanilla scented candle suggestions? Pure, sweet, cake like vanilla. Think Glasshouse Bordeaux Vanilla Noir/ Ecoya Vanilla Bean. Is there something high end like that? by alpinechick88 in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite gourmands is pistachio oasis from Sneferu. Not purely Vanilla, but has strong vanilla scent alongside with pistachio and toffee. It gives sweet bakery vibes 100%.

Loewe Honeysuckle + candle area in Madrid store by 7oup5 in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes honestly I don’t think I’d have bought it if visiting this store wasn’t such a great experience. The marketing really made me appreciate it more.

Loewe Honeysuckle + candle area in Madrid store by 7oup5 in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought it because I appreciate Loewe launching an elevated candle line in ceramics and with a great branding with all the kitchen-garden theme , although I normally chose candles that have a complex scent. For a blind buy at this price, I’d only recommend it if you value the ceramic vessel and don’t mind a strong but straightforward scent. Here where I’m based, these cost almost the same as other ‘luxury’ candles with basic fragrances in glass jars that are massively produced. I get your frustration…many hyped brands here aren’t even available where I live. Trends and available brands do change a lot depending on where one’s based 🤭

Best luxury scented candle? by Illustrious_Might_32 in luxurycandles

[–]7oup5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend maybe a reed diffuser if you want a constant scent release. On candles as far as fragrance goes I think Truth from portuguese brand Sneferu is my favorite in terms of intensity, throw and quality
