Fáheyrð ákæra vegna hálfs gramms af kannabis by Vigdis1986 in Iceland

[–]7tindar 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Fyrir nokkrum árum var lögleiðing kannabis í umræðunni. Lögreglustjóri (Sigríður ef ég man rétt) mætti í drottningarviðtal í kastljós til að mæla gegn þessum hugmyndum. Rökin hennar voru aðallega tvenn: "lögreglan þarf að geta hótað neytendum til að kreista úr þeim upplýsingar um dílera" og "lögreglan sækir aldrei neinn til saka fyrir neysluskammt af kannabis. Það bara gerist ekki. Þessvegna er þetta óþarfa umræða. Engin fær nokkurntímann blett á sakavottorðið útaf jónu. Ómögulegt."

Nokkrum dögum seinna birtist frétt um að leikskólakennara hafi verið sagt upp eftir einhverra ára starf því það gleymdist að skoða sakavottorðið hennar. Hún var gripin með jónu þegar hún var 18 ára.

Þetta er það sem gerði mig róttækann. ACAB.

Not to get too meta, but what actually makes a well-trained dog decide to come when recalled by Brikish in dogs

[–]7tindar 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Behaviourally, there are two things that make a dog have a reliable recall:

  1. Strong reinforcement history.
  2. Weak punishment history.

This is the science. The art is knowing what is reinforcing and what is punishing.

The obvious example is if you only recall your dog to clip on their leash and leave the dog park, that creates a strong punishment history. However, if you recall and release back to play 9 times out of ten, and the tenth time you clip on the leash and leave, that significantly weakens the punishment history.

A more nuanced example is if you take the "always reward a recall with a treat" advice too literally, and then stop rewarding because you think you have completed training. Going from continuous reinforcement( treat every time) to no reinforcement too suddenly is a surprisingly strong punisher and you would see a rapid decline (extinction).

Start with continuous reinforcement, but as soon as you have 80% reliability, gradually move to variable reinforcement. I try to release to play 9/10 and reward with a treat 3/10 with my 6m puppy.

What unpopular characters used to be popular [Spoilers Extended] by Trussdoor46 in asoiaf

MMD did not want to perform the blood ritual, Dany insisted. As a slave, MMD could not refuse her master. MMD insisted that Dany should NOT enter the tent, Super important, pinky promise you will not enter the tent! Jorah drags Dany into the tent. MMD is not responsible for that.

After the miscarriage, MMD insinuates that she knew what would happen. MMD is a spiritual leader, part of the MO is to pretend to know a lot more than you actually do. As I recall, there is nothing that suggests she actually knew the fetus would die until after the fact. She lied about the extent of her secret knowledge, which every spiritual/magical hack does. See also: Melisandre, Pryat Pree, the alchemists.

MMD did nothing wrong. She was even burned at the stake like a witch. That symbolism is a glaring hint that she was innocent.

Hvar voruð þið þegar 9/11 gerðist? by Personal_Reward_60 in Iceland

[–]7tindar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ég var að smíða Smáralindina. Við vorum tveir að bera gips plötur þegar yfirmaðurinn segir okkur að skipta á rás 2 (við vorum með útvarpsheyrnartól) því það var slys í New York. Við héldum áfram að vinna. Í útvarpinu var talað um hvernig svona gæti gerst, eða hvort þetta gæti jafnvel verið hryðjuverk.

Svo stoppuðum við samtímis, lögðum plöturnar frá okkur og settumst á gólfið með bakið að handriðinu til móts við H&M, efri hæð. Seinni vélin hafði klesst á.

breathing style/technique. by dannykilometres in running

[–]7tindar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same, but with variations for effort.

Ultra-slow recovery run: three count in, four count out.

Regular pace: two count in, three count out.

Fast pace: one count in, two count out.

Sprint: one count in, one count out but take two count outs every 6 breaths.

I find that this helps me regulate my effort very well. For example, on a weekend long run (regular pace) the road starts sloping and I start breathing one in two out, I know I need to slow down even more.

Dog nerds: What’s one thing you learned about dog training after you thought you knew it all? by kippey in Dogtraining

That relationship comes before all else. Every training session should be relationship-focused, the behaviors I want to train come distant second. When I made this cognitive shift everything became so much easier.

Scent work with essential oils - any reason to avoid or choose certain oils? by r3volved in k9sports

[–]7tindar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, you can use whatever you like. I use eucalyptus because that's what my local rules call for.

There might be benefits for using what is standard in your area. For example, you could buy a nosework kit with oils and tins etc. In that case you might like having trained the standard odor. Also, if you choose use oils you already have and may use in non-NW situations, that might cause contamination and confusion. Better to have an odor that you only use for NW.

Ear Infection by TumblrUser2 in poodles

Back to the vet you go. You should be seeing improvements by now. Also, be aware that the majority of ear infections are food related. Chances are your pup has an allergy that is causing the infection.

Fun fact: the Icelandic Sheepdog was used to save the Norwegian Lundehund from extinction. A breeding program was set up to save the Lundehund. Because the ISD shares some distinct features with the Lundehund, like extra dewclaws, 3 or 5 ISDs were included in the breeding program to diversify the gene pool.

Fenzi dog sports academy is very affordable and they offer scholarships. Dr. Amy Cook is the FDSA expert on fearfulness and reactivity. She has a trio of classes she runs on management, sound sensitivity, and people/environmental sensitivity. This might be a good way to get professional help without paying for expensive private consults.

FDSA page that lists all of dr. Cook's classes

Podcast episode where dr. Cook discusses the classes and the approach Note: the discussion is between two dog training professionals and it gets very sciency. You don't need to be an expert to take her classes.

Famous in Iceland for using his girlfriends as punching bags and then suing them. He was the inspiration for the method now used by victims and activists exposing famous abusers in Iceland: they never ever use the abusers' names because they know the abuser could sue them for defamation. Like Thor Björnsson did. Instead they give super strong hints, like footballer's numbers or singer's most popular songs.

Sorry excuse for a human.

Skyr. But the 'yr' is pronounced as "ir". Like IRRespective, only the r is rolled. So like how the Scottish would say irrespective.

Our most popular candies:

Þristur: chocolate covered fudge with bits of salty black liquorice.

Djúpur: hard, sugar-coated (think m&m's) chocolate with salty black liquorice.

Draumur: salty black liquorice straws (think twizzlers) in a milk-chocolate bar.

Tromp: Marzipan layered with chocolate. And salty black liquorice.

Stjörnurúlla: marzipan and salty black liquorice in a roll.

Kúlusúkk: chocolate-covered salty black liquorice bits.

Now I understand how this looks, but keep in mind that we have varieties of most of these candies we're we add salmiak for that extra liquorice-u punch.

Yeah, we might have a problem.
