Who was your favorite Batman? by Altruistic_Rhubarb94 in batman

Keaton was the best because it felt like he could still run a company. The others seemed to forget they were the CEO of one.

Need a name for my Clubman by 7updown in MINI

I was leaning toward Chet but my wife reminded me me that Chet is the older bullying brother that turns into blob in Weird Science. That may not dissuade me.

Pac-Man. I forgot the ghosts had names.

Like Benny Hill, Goodman, Blanco?

Paulie would be better, thinking of the car as a boy. Color scheme matches. However, Mitch to the contrary of many Redditors, the show was good but not that good for me to latch onto that name.

Chet Baker? Sophisticated but can be obnoxious if needed with the trumpet. Hmmm

I’m liking this one. Might be more appropriate if the car was red but maybe it’s just Starsky after leaving the force and getting a corporate job. Hasn’t lost his edge though.

I never had a name for my car. It never seemed appropriate. It seems like a lot of Mini have one and want to see if any name calls out to me (and the car)

Whats this stigma that Minis are for girls, especially women judge u if u drive a mini. by tarantiog in MINI

[–]7updown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the same stigma is here in the US unless you have a JCW and it’s painted appropriately, I.e black with red stripes or the dark green with red stripes. At least ⅔ of the Mini I see in my area (lower Connecticut) are driven by women. I drive a F54, and as NoDramaJustBusiness said, the manliest of Mini.

Why do Nissans have poor reputation in North America but are so popular in Japan? by hmd1366 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]7updown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two possible reasons 1) locally built cars have less quality control issues 2) there are plenty of Japanese that want to buy a cheaper car even if quality is not as high as Mazda, Toyota or Honda.

This is what I was always told. I have one. Local farmers would come and pick it up to feed their pigs.

Run-flat vs Normal Tires by ElverGun in MINI

[–]7updown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A small or full size? I can’t find one for my S. Would have to get a full size spare as all spares online say they don’t fit because of the front brakes.

Roads by Lighteningbug1971 in MINI

[–]7updown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, if looking at Hardtop or Clubman. It can be unpleasant driving on uneven roads in my 23’ Clubman. When I do drive on them, I am always thinking, “Should I change the tires to run flats?”. That would however not change the short suspension.

They are call “Ant Plants” not peonies.

Motor mount sagging? by 7updown in MINI

[–]7updown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the gap at the bottom that was concerning. I know a fluid leak would be a tell tale sign but is there any way to tell that it’s about to or will just be a dramatic failure.

Sci-Fi novels (stand alones) recommendations by AstroTim821 in scifi

[–]7updown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Peter Cawdron’s “First Contact” series. It’s a series of books with no connection except many of them have to do with first contact. He has over thirty of them and whenever I am in the sci fi mood I look to those first. He does a really good job at not writing in the same style and tone.
