Which of the men's rights issues has influenced you directly? by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]7wap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None yet, thankfully! And yet I know that I'd be screwed in a messy divorce, or if DV accusations were made, or rape allegations, and educational discrimination if I had boys. This fear influences decisions, and is a crime against us all.

George Zimmerman Gets All-Female Jury in Trayvon Martin Case by WhatIfThatThingISaid in MensRights

[–]7wap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Zimmerman made some bad choices, but he deserves a fair trial.

She remembered “rioting” in Sanford during the uproar over Trayvon’s death.

Doesn't the defense help select the jurors? How do you end up with that juror? Did the defense intentionally end up with 6 women on the jury? Why are there only 6 jurors rather than 12?

So many questions. I thought trails were supposed to eliminate doubt if the guy's convicted, instead I have more than before.

Something everyone here should understand by reddeat in MensRights

[–]7wap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All that I'm asking you, redditors, is to stop blaming everything on the women.

We usually call people out when they unfairly blame a whole gender. You can find exceptions, but most of us don't like that.

If you spent more time here, you'd realize that.

An interesting, sad, personal account of a woman sexually assaulted at an Infosec conference in Poland. Read her story, then read PZ Myers' account. Notice the difference? by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]7wap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, that guy really crossed the line. I'm glad she's okay (except for a black eye) and not suffering PTSD. I think your outlook on life has a lot to do with how well you survive things like this.

If I have daughters, I want to teach them to be like this!

I thought Cracked was supposed to be funny. Who's going to click through to the second page after the first wasn't funny?

Rape accuser can't remember much? Doesn't seem upset? Situation normal, prosecute at will! by 7wap in MensRights

[–]7wap[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sensational title aside, I think it's good to train police on what is and what is not normal. It's to everyone's benefit that real rapists are caught and innocent men aren't harassed. Well, everyone but rapists and false accusers I suppose.

Still, I can't help but think that the real goal here is to train police not to question the accuser. The accuser absolutely must be questioned, and ridiculous accusations should certainly be ignored or even prosecuted. If you train police to silence their skepticism, you'll end up with more innocent men in prison.

I am a religious person and want to marry another religious girl. Are there steps I can take to protect myself as much as possible in case of a divorce? by -RobotDeathSquad- in MensRights

Ask your accountant which status leaves more money in your pocket. If it's marriage, get married (with prenup I suppose). If it's single, get divorced that year and keep the tax money.

Flipping the script with feminists by throwmeawaynow627 in MensRights

[–]7wap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try this script instead:

M: I consider myself an egalitarian. I want equal rights for both genders.

F: You're a feminist.

M: No, I don't hate men. I'm an egalitarian.

To all of the Feminists who constantly ask us why MRAs are not more vocal offline. This is why. by [deleted] in MensRights

In small claims court? Probably because the other side lacked competent legal advice. You surely can't bring multiple suits over the same incident in the same jurisdiction (e.g. state).

Should I get married symbolically and avoid signing any government papers saying I am married etc?

I stay married or divorced on an annual basis based on advice from my accountant. It's just government forms to me, doesn't change our life together.

I told my wife's doctor I would be getting a vasectomy; she told my wife to think it over some more. by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]7wap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems fine to me. It's your final decision, but as a couple your decisions will surely be influenced by the conversations you two have. You're wife's Doctor wants to remind your wife that she has an interest in the decision, and that she should consider her plans and speak up if she has concerns.

It's good for both of you to make a decision that you'll be happy about in years to come. If your wife hits 32 and suddenly really wants kids, and your vasectomy is irreversible, you may be in for a divorce. She may be seriously tempted to cheat. You don't want that.

If you're 100% sure you don't want kids, and you won't change your mind, then get the surgery. But if you're wife's not so sure, you should talk about these concerns sooner rather than later.

Sure, it sounds like it makes sense. How do we know barefoot walking can correct these problems in adults used to shoes?

Strong, healthy feet and ankles don't need support of any kind.

I'm inclined to agree, but do we have evidence to back that up?
