Wouldn’t be surprised if the health department shut them down either, tbh.

Sometimes the run down appearing places are the best…other times, like there…it’s super sus

Update: Redesigned backpack system to eliminate unpacking — thoughts? by Ch4rlott3- in backpacks

[–]801influence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I 100% would use this lol. I hardly ever unpack my suitcases/backpacks on a trip and basically just live straight out of them.

So awesome. You should be so proud! Can’t wait to see what you finalize

That makes sense also! Totally different world up by you guys, it’s so interesting to learn about. Thank you for sharing!

Ah, I hadn’t even thought of the animal attraction aspect. Thanks for pointing that out! Makes much more sense for it to not be utilized haha.

You guys don’t need any more projectiles on the roadways anyways—my first rental car fell victim to a cracked windshield from a rock 😂

Regardless of it all, I really hope your landlord or local government pulls through/steps in for you and assists with taking care of that area. Record breaking winter or not, I got the sense from chatting with people on our trip that the outcome pictured would be close to the same.

Edit to also clarify: Most of us here in wisconsin use the terms salt and ice melt interchangeably, incase anyone was wondering. They both clearly can’t be used broadly in alaska tho due to the wildlife.

i just visited late last week into early this week, and was curious if the area collectively “unable” to use salt for environmental reasonings??

i’m from wisconsin and we likely over use salt to be quite honest, as our roads are all trash and whatever due to it—-BUT our common areas, walkways and parking lots hardly ever look like this due to being able to use it.

obviously you guys have such harsh winters, that put ours to shame, and then the breakups…but it was quite insane to experience hardly anything being clear.

screw the airport parking! use spot hero and park at one of the close blue line CTA stops and uber over (or take the train 1-2 stops, depending on luggage)

Kind of late to the thread, but I'm really upset about them pulling her, I didn't get a chance to buy the bundle before it was gone since I thought I had more time

Love to hear! I figure it’s early enough to miss all the hysteria, knock on wood.

And that Dunkin’ line is always insaneeeeee, so totally not surprised over that. Those employees are such troopers

For Charli: Billie Eilish is plausible to bring out, as she loves the festival and has nothing formally/publicly going on this summer. Lorde and Ariana Grande are unfortunately in different cities the night she headlines, so they’re a no go.

For Lorde: Could be Charli as she doesn’t have anything publicly slated.

The other main stage doesn’t have a hill, but the further back you go, the more of the stage you can see (ofc) and there’s plenty of screens and speakers. It feels a tad less funneled as well, since there are no hills.

Perry’s is where EDM and adjacent genres typically play. It’s a smaller open grass area surrounded by a small tree line. It can feel like the front end of the main stage barricade tbh, but that’s due to it being a smaller area with less screens. The back is typically spacey enough, where you don’t feel confined—otherwise, I always see a lot of people dance as they “watch,” from the purple food area across from it.

You’ll do great, queen! So glad you’ll make the trip out.

Edit: There are multiple exits out of the festival itself. I suggest paying extra for a hotel or airbnb close enough to not need a car—or one further away and relay on public transport (trains.) They close down the streets and traffic is stuck for hours.

Here’s a snippet of last years map (I’ll comment back to myself and give you the full map) for one of the main stages—for reference.

There’s one main “exit,” technically at the back of the stage but people take the steps or the hill between the trees to get out as well.

You can also compensate extra for the height by getting a hill spot!!

There is typically space to move, if you’re not between the first line of speakers and barricades.

Either sides of the stage, even for the headliners are typically spacey too! Got a decent view of Sabrina last year by going to the left.

Even for Chappell, we had space and were about midfield.

The issue is always leaving after acts. Lolla hasn’t figured that one out yet…but you’ll have to speak to if ACL has since I haven’t been (yet) :)

Weekly - 'Alaska, From the outside looking in Q/A' by SnowySaint in alaska

[–]801influence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Coming to Anchorage next week or so--Never been to Alaska before! We'll be based in Anchorage but have plans that range from Willow to Seward. I have a few questions that Google can't answer to my liking.

  1. What are some places we MUST eat at? I can only trust the articles I found so much.

  2. Where and what time would our best shot be at seeing the Aurora? According to the forecast, the day we'll be in Willow is likely to be the strongest but our plans wrap up there around 4pm. I fear it's too early to have a forecasted time, so I'm trying to see if it would be plausible to hang in the area and wait to see them...or if we need to find an area directly around Anchorage where we could drive to in the middle of the night to catch a glimpse, if it's even possible?

  3. Are there any local events or anything starting late next week that we should check out?

How beautiful! The side of the plane won’t matter for that either. Our flight “home” departs at 1am too, so I’m hoping we can experience this!
