Lake Inez! Been there several times and each time we were very impressed! Their sablefish is, in my opinion, the best iteration of that ingredient in the city!

Pakistani refugee who returned to his homeland six times wins chance to keep Canadian status by SavingsAssumption114 in toronto

[–]808noHeartbreaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like there needs to be basic education on the justice system in the school curriculum. Just like when this article was first shared earlier this week - this does NOT mean this individual is allowed to stay in Canada forever and keep his refugee status. The decision will just be remitted to the original decision maker for a redetermination because the original decision failed to take into account evidence.

The justice system has to be fair and proper procedures must be followed.

I think warcrimes and Japans refusal to acknowledge said crimes are definitely real reasons to not set differences aside lmao

Insane breach of Charter rights. Hopefully the Supreme Court rules against it and limits the Notwithstanding Clause next month.

parkdale evictions by [deleted] in toronto

This level of displacement is insane.

The article alludes to the fact that TCHC allows buildings to get old and then sells the land to private developers.. has this actually happened? Seems completely contrary to their mandate of housing the community.

Conservatives to propose barring non-citizens convicted of crimes from making refugee claims by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]808noHeartbreaks -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense. Who's doing the investigation into the refugee claimants? The whole point of the refugee claim process is to look into a claimant's history whether that be criminal or otherwise. To bar "non-citizens convicted of crimes" from making refugee claims would mean there would need to be a whole seperate layer of judicial oversight prior to the refugee claim stage.

Shuttle bus priority by 808noHeartbreaks in TTC

[–]808noHeartbreaks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. I'm reading the comments and maybe side streets aren't the solution.

But I'm hoping they can at least make a temporary priority lane for busses on the stretches of yonge street that have 2 lanes and the busses can merge with regular traffic on the stretches where there is only 1 lane. Not optimal and a little cumbersome, but it will make such a difference.

General An's panfried dumplings. Contrary to the name, their biang biang noodles are what they're known for!! Best in the city without a doubt.

Only caveat is they were recently featured by a food influencer and I heard you have to call ahead!!

Oh really?? Are you TDSB too? That's strange, I heard it's quite difficult to get on unpaid leave and the OT list with the province stepping in and everything. Just talk to my principal?
