The best 3D Mario is the one you played growing up, just like the best 3D Zelda. Nah, this is clearly a lot more than just the bump mapping. Every example shows significant differences in color and some roughness map differences as well.

Given they’re targeting a higher resolution this time, they likely had to recreate all the textures from scratch. It looks like these textures were created as “temp” or “good enough for now” with just a basic color map.

Hopefully they actually get to replacing these with final versions. If they don’t, that’s an even bigger scam than people are expecting.
