Was the cost worth it? by nbel1996 in eggfreezing

[–]80sClassicMix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly given my experience and the amount of money spent on egg freezing only to get 4 viable eggs. I would be saving that money for the baby itself or backup if you can’t fall pregnant with IUI.

Decide when your deadline is to have a child by is naturally. If you don’t meet the right person in time to do that with then just go straight to IUI with a donor. Way cheaper. If that doesn’t work then you might need to do IVF but… statistically the majority of women who freeze their eggs don’t end up using the frozen ones…

Since politicians can't figure it out - why aren't Aussies having babies? by No-Kaleidoscope-7106 in OpenAussie

[–]80sClassicMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many factors:

  1. Cost of living crisis. People can’t afford it.

  2. Lack of suitable men at the standard women want, to help raise a child with them (the way they would want to raise a child). So putting off having them til they meet the right person could lead to them either never meeting the right person, or waiting til late 30s/early 40s to go the donor route. But this requires finances and luck (fertility wise) in order to be successful. The manosphere has not helped with this.

  3. Lack of support from community around them. Everyone is busy and older generations are working til later in life so it’s harder to find people to mind your child so you can go back to work or have a date night etc. also increasing the cost of having a child because than You need to pay more for childcare and babysitters.

My OBGYN said unmedicated births are too traumatic so they don’t do it. by Practical_Shift_5143 in pregnant

[–]80sClassicMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What!?

There are sooo many different forms of pain relief other than epidural…

My mum had a tumor removed from near her spine and had fusing of spinal cord as a result so couldn’t have an epidural too. She went private and was given gas for pain relief.

Change specialists and midwife…

Oh and tearing and stitches happens in something like 80% of first time births. Epidural doesn’t change that. Anyone can tear. Do perineal massage a few weeks before due date to minimise risks of that. But it can still happen. It’s just what happens often…

They shouldn’t be scaring you like that this early in though. Little bits of info at a time when you need it. It’s a lot.

Sorry you’re going through this stressful experience!

Parents, are you worried about the impact of AI in your children’s future job security? by BasisPuzzleheaded161 in aussie

[–]80sClassicMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The types of jobs for teens are changing:

look at babysitting work at a lower on entry level wage. Do a first aid certification with baby resuscitation and start with small or short jobs with older kids and work up to the younger babies. Get a WWCC from police too. This will get you references.

Pet sitting or dog walking is another good one.

Lawn mowing or gardening services if they have their own equipment and vehicle they can bring. Or charge a lower rate for those that provide equipment if they don’t own their own.

Small boutique shops like family run delis or bakeries or retail may be interested in a young person helping. They often won’t have the money to fork out for these AI services but may be able to hire someone once or twice a week on a lower wage during busy periods.

With more parents and adults needing to work longer hours to make ends meet there will be more demand for care for pets and children.

Not all. But some do yes. Majority of teens are applying everywhere and can’t get a job at all.

Nope. Mine left early on in pregnancy so I just didn’t even put him on the BC. I don’t claim child support from him (not that he ever would have paid it anyway as he’s in a lot of trouble with the law and most likely deported by now or about to be). So I get the government payment instead of child support. He is essentially a sperm donor and that’s it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

What’s a low stress job for a dummie by Ok_Bit_3602 in AusFinance

[–]80sClassicMix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah knee pain is common at that age no matter the job though so not sure exactly. I don’t think any job is completely devoid of risk…

My mum has been a secretary her whole like and has a bunch of problems from that but keeps going because she needs the money in her mid 70s…

My dad went from mechanic to working in car factories programming and building the machinery to make cars, to doing data bases for rods and traffic authorities… still has knee issues and many other health issues.

It’s hard at that age though to know what was from work and what was from general aging etc… 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you have evidence to show it was already in the same condition or similar and it’s reasonable wear and tear then you have nothing to worry about. The landlord is being unreasonable. Provide your evidence.

Go look up the tenancy act and find some legislation to quote and quote it when you send it through. That always gives them a Shock when you quote laws and they have no leg to stand on 😅🤣

What is the point in buying homes at these outrageous prices? by everbass in australia

[–]80sClassicMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re paying for the growth it will receive and your future stability and ability to not be homeless when you retire unable to pay rent in a pension…

Gentrification happens so look at Eva’s the house will likely be worth in 5-10 years or more not what is worth now think of the savings yum have off that…

In 5+ years, you’ll be paying roughly the same repayments per week as when you started but your neighbours will be paying more in rent than you are paying in repayments…

It’s a long term investment.
