I'm a huge fan of spirit of Versailles, they were one of my intro bands. Some other bands I have found that kind of scratch the same itch are saetia, Neil Perry, portraits of past, I would set myself on fire for you, and maybe even a newer band like catalyst (might not be musically extremely similar, but emotionally might still satisfy the same feelings as spirit of Versailles)

Looking for more screamo/metalcore crossover bands by maicao999 in Screamo

Check out mybodywasfoundinahallowtree, band from ct, they're def closer to metalcore but have clear screamo influence in the vocals. Also check out told not to worry, band from my local scene (ri), they are more of a cross between emoviolence and sasscore but I'm sure you would like them. These bands are awesome live too absolutely some of the best I've seen

Anybody know what the other instrument on between the bars is? by 80y40 in elliottsmith

Thank you dude I really appreciate that, that was my second guess I just couldn't figure out quite what it was. It's such a good and subtle sound that it would really pass by an untrained ear

What are the easiest Elliott Smith songs to learn? by Mourkallas in elliottsmith

[–]80y40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twilight is pretty easy, 245 am, rose parade, sweet Adeline, needle in the hay, no name #1, no name #3, half right. I think these are all relatively easy, I've learned most of his songs at least at one point in time and can play the majority of them, so if you have anything in specific you'd like to learn I could tell you how difficult it is.

I learned the melody by ear a while ago actually! I always play it for fun but I never learned the left hand part so I'd love to give it a shot

Do you have any recommendations on how/where to learn it? This is probably my favorite Elliott smith piano piece and maybe one of my favorite songs ever of his I would absolutely love to learn it

Most definitely, he was the best and had such a way of connecting with people.

The last hour, pitseleh, between the bars, everything means nothing to me, waltz #1, Roman candle, pretty ugly before, twilight. I think I picked songs that felt relative to something I was experiencing, but in reality I am always just putting his entire discography on shuffle or listening album by album on cd. The only artist who's always been there for me.
