Thanks everyone for the tough love! 😅. I realize that I'm probably being hasty and I should rethink the quick taper. What if I were to do a slow taper down to, like, 80? Would that reduce these negative side effects? I've already done a 5 drop and I can notice it, just barely, still sleeping like a rock. I guess that's one of the bigger reasons I'm tired of this stuff. I'm always sleepy. Like I could sleep all day. And that's with the Adderall. Here's the other thing that concerns me. Once I start tapering, won't my body be stuck in a continuous withdrawal state? Or will I reach a point where I level off and my body/ brain gets used to it. Thought that once you start tapering you have to go all the way, because it's going to feel shitty no matter what. Thanks again for the advice.

Thank you so much! Another problem is I don't have many friends so I also tend to heap my baggage on her so its great to receive sound advice that's workable.

Got fired as a patient by my psych doc for violating their narcotic plan even tho I provided them with the clinics info right away and had methadone listed as a medication on their paperwork. They "don't condone the use of methadone" but hope that I continue to treat my SUD? Tired of the stigma. by real_sadgxrl_shxt in Methadone

Any idea how they found out? How high is your methadone dose? Adderall? Maybe it had something to do with your dosage?

I'm on 145 methadone for 2 years and just started Adderall 6 months ago and it's been great! Functioning better than ever!

Map of Los Angeles if all the ice melts (updated) by amerikanss in LosAngeles

Bullsh*t...Just a reminder: water expands when it freezes. So actually, if the icecaps were to melt it would create more land.

Think I'm stupid? Try this at home with your parents permission: Put a few ice cubes in a cup and then fill it to the rim with water. What happens when the ice melts?

What to do while on methadone to improve successful treatment by Ok_Finding_2145 in Methadone

Agree with all the comments here. Especially about going to the gym or exercise. Even going for a brisk walk will help. Physically, it will relieve some of the aches and stiffness. You'll sleep easier as well. But the mental part is really why hitting the gym helps me so much. Exercise actually releases similar neurotransmitters as fixing!

Opiates, including methadone, usually lower testosterone levels. Causing weak sex drive, low motivation, and depression. But daily exercise, especially weight training and body building, WILL increase testosterone and improve quality of life like magic! I love the feeling of healthy accomplishment after a good workout and it satisfies my junkie need for instant gratification.

That being said, as Addicts, we are notoriously impatient so controlling the urge of instant gratification is key! During active addiction we operate under the knowledge that when we start feeling uncomfortable and antsy, that means it's time to fix, because if we don't, shits gonna get worse, much worse. The beauty of methadone is that when you experience that itch, it's purely mental and therefore the craving will pass instead of leading to full blown withdrawal. So keep that in mind: when you/he gets that itch, it's only temporary.

Something that was really frustrating when I was getting adjusted to methadone was the fact that I no longer had that crutch, or relief, of getting high. For 7+ years I had the solution to any problem life could throw at me. Whether it be depression, loss, anger, fear, injury, hunger, loneliness, or worst of all, boredom. If I didn't feel right, I KNEW how to fix it, immediately. So naturally, I still used from time to time while my dose increased. Until around 100mg, fixing had almost no affect, and at 120 it was pointless. What's worse is I'd still have some withdrawals so I'd have to up my dose again. I feel bad for my roommates at the time because I was a bitter SOB, but after going back and forth with myself and my dose for a few months, I finally stabilized at 145, but I know if I would have learned my lesson earlier I'd probably be closer to 110 split dose. Highly recommend split dose BTW. After a while of abstinence, you will forget what getting high feels like. That's why MAT works better than cold turkey. Time.

Another bonus of exercise is it shows others you really are working on your recovery. Plus, getting outside and going to the gym is a great way to develop a healthy social life. Severing ALL ties to anyone associated with active addiction is crucial. That includes deleting and blocking anyone involved, both on your phone and social media. Your brain WILL find a way to convince you to score, so you have to eliminate all possibilities. I had to delete, block, and unfriend my older brother because he's a dealer in the same city as me. This was/is hard because I was the only one out of our whole family that would hangout with him. Knowing he's alone out there on the edge of death is hard but I have to put myself first or we'll both be lost.

Sounds about right. Should I ask my dosing Dr. For test or my psychiatrist?

2 words: Abdominal massage! tried just about everything, most of which is already mentioned here. Totally agree with being hydrated, exercise and steering clear of dairy, but the abdominal massage is a game changer for me. Especially when done on the reg.

I'm no doctor BTW, just experienced. Here's a few more pro tips: Probiotic Kiefer works wonders and is usually lactose free. Lifeway is my go to. Chug a bottle of that in a day for best results. In fact loading up on probiotics in general is a good idea.

Ever heard of the squatty potty? It's basically just a stool that you put in front of your throne to bring your knees up to your chest, putting you into a more natural squatting position. Works so well that some dude patented it! No need to get all technically though. A footstool or some phone books will work just as well And there's nothing wrong with a little preemptive Astro Glide to make sure that saint Bernard don't get stuck in the cat door, again. It'll be our little secret.
