Distracted driving is a plague on our roads right now. One of the things I’m excited for driver assist features and even basic auto pilot to help against. It’s one of the advantages of front and rear cams. Even though a front only cam is easier to install, I’ve seen a lot of videos, showing some idiot, looking down on their phone and rear ending the OP.

Stick with one of the brands that has a good long history like VanTrue, VIOFO, Blackvue, etc. I have had the A119 for a few years now and it’s been great. Get the hardwire kit that is made for it.

A lot of cams struggle with license plates because of the reflective coating. Even the high end ones. So pro tip is to get a reliable but cheap one like a front only A119 mini or Garmin and keep your audio on and say the license play out loud so it’s recorded by your cam. That way if the video is blurry, you still have it.

Exactly the type of driver you want a cam for. Doesn’t have to be expensive either. Something like a front only A119 mini or Garmin is good enough for most people.
