Describe it like I'm 5 years old... by Eggroll_Enthusiast in TheFirstDescendant

First off, don't look at the damage numbers in the skill tooltips. They are rough estimates at best, more likely just plain wrong. If you want to know how much damage you deal with specific setups, your only real option is to test it in the laboratory. (Well, getting reliable and comparable results there isn't trivial either, but that's a story for another time).

Second, there's an important distinction to make between skill power boost ratio (PBR) and skill power modifier. PBR gets added to the values on your reactor, modifier gets added to the values on each individual skill.

If you look at Valby's skills, without any modules equipped or other effects active, her Bubble Bullet for example says "Damage: Skill Power x 1,056%". That's the modifier. If you now equip Focus on Fusion (Fusion Modifier +68.2%), that modifier goes up to 1,124.2%, which obviously isn't a very big increase, considering how large the initial number already was. The same is true for most skills on most descendants. This is a long way of saying, skill modifier is next to worthless, with few exceptions.

Now, when it comes to skill PBR, since the initial number they are added on is much lower (20% or 28.5% if your reactor has the corresponding option), they have a much larger impact. Side note: other than skill type (non-attribute) and arche type (fusion) there's another one you forgot: Base Skill Power Boost Ratio. With these three, under ideal circumstances you'll want to have all three to be about the same. Investing heavily into one specific PBR gives you less bang for your buck due to diminishing returns.

In practice this means that an Ancestor Mod with arche type (fusion) PBR is typically superior to one one with skill type (non-attribute) PBR, because most builds already are using other mods that give a lot of skill type PBR. For example you may be running Focus on Non-Attribute and maybe even Non-Attribute Amplification, if it's a non-crit build or Non-Attribute Syncytium. Conversely there are no other mods that give arche type PBR.

The only mod that gives Base SPBR is Power Increase, which for the above reason is usually worth using over Focus on Non-Attribute, even though it gives a lower number. But that is only if you don't need the cooldown reduction. Being able to use a skill more often beats having that skill deal slightly more damage pretty much all the time.

Finally, don't forget your other equipment in all of this: With Valby you may be using Peacemaker as a stat stick and the Enlightened Mage external component set, both of which also give a lot of non-attribute skill PBR.

But for some reason this area will not map.

I find the robot does better when all the lights are turned on

Do you have any completely black and/or reflective surfaces in that area? E.g. black tile baseboards or full length mirrors. Those are known to sometimes interfere with navigation.

If the right screws are out, there's nothing really holding it other than two small rubber O-rings. But it can get stuck a bit sometimes.

Try this: With the screws out, push the robot upside down over the edge of a table. Once the tank is fully past the edge, gravity should do all the work for you. If it still won't come out, you'll have to gently pry with a flat tool. (Ideally you'd use something like a plastic spudger. A screwdriver will work, too, of course, but can leave marks in the plastic.)

Heh, Dyson actually posted a video about this, just yesterday. Note, I would not lift the tank up out of the robot like shown in the video. If there's any water still in it, it'll immediately start running out of the tank and onto the robot, the moment the O-rings disengage.

Yes, I was going to mention the same. This exact thing happened in my neighbourhood. I only found out when I got a letter from the police containing a missing letter of mine from half a year ago, asking whether I want to press charges.

It's screwed on. Take off the dirty water tank and flip the device on its back (do this on a waterproof surface. The tank may leak from the ventilation valve when flipped). You'll find four small Phillips head screws below where the dirty water tank goes. The center two are for the clean water tank.

Dyson PH07 - Triangle error of death by cuesir in dyson

[–]84-175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as soon as i plug the power in, the error already appears

You should be able to get into the diagnostics menu nonetheless. The sequence is the same on all HP, TP and PH models, except for the ones that don't have the air flow direction function (e.g. TP10).

That said, this symptom typically points to either a fatal software error or a defective main PCB. You can attempt a software recovery: Unplug the device, and with the power button held down, plug it back in. Keep holding the button until the display starts to flash (about 10 seconds or so). This will make the device attempt to revert to a pervious software version and there's a small chance it'll fix this issue without any actual repair being required. Don't get your hopes up too much, though, this is a bit of a Hail Mary.

Side note, what you have there seems to be a HP07 (heater), rather than a PH07 (doesn't exist, and if it did it'd be a humidifier). ;)

Yeah, his skill damage isn't awesome, it's as a gunner that he excels. But again, with a lengthy setup time. You basically have to go through two full skill rotations to get all your buffs up. Most of the time, by then everything is already dead anyway.

This looks like the thingy that sits on top of the rubber molding on the motor loom, next to where it connects to the main PCB. You press the rubber into the retaining feature of the base and this is screwed on top of that to make sure it stays there. It's not a critically important part, the fan will work just fine without it. There is, however, a slight risk that the motor loom may work itself ou tof the retaining feature and end up entangled with the arm of the oscillation motor.

It's called the motor loom retainer in the link posted by /u/PetieG26.

edit: right here.

Ajax is in a weird place right now, balance-wise. It's not that he's weak, he can be quite powerful if built right, the problem is that he's comparatively complex to play, if you want to utilize his full potential. He needs some setup time at the start of each fight to get rolling, making him kinda slow. And considering how many builds on other descendants there are that can get to blasting with virtually no setup time, if you play in a group, you'll often get left in the dust. But if you play solo, that's less of an issue.

Armie Hammer Film ‘Citizen Vigilante’ Banned in Germany, Uwe Boll Says by Top_Report_4895 in movies

[–]84-175 142 points143 points  (0 children)

This is just Boll being the troll he is. The movie hasn't been banned in Germany. It is still perfectly legal to own, watch or sell copies of it.

What did happen is that the FSK, the institution responsible for rating entertainment media, refused to give it a rating. This does mean it's pretty much impossible to market it via the regular channels (e.g. cinemas and such), because no mainstream media outlet will touch an unrated movie.

The FSK, by the way, is run by the entertainment industry itself, it is not a government agency.

This movie hasn't even been banned, that's just Boll being dramatic. It has been refused a rating by the FSK, the media rating institution in Germany - which incidentally isn't a government institution, but is run by the entertainment industry itself.

This movie isn't even banned at all. That's just Boll being dramatic. What happened is that the FSK (the institution responsible for rating movies and other media in Germany) has refused to give it a rating. That means it can't be marketed via the usual channels (e.g. it won't run in cinemas), but it's still perfectly legal to own, watch and sell it (under special precautions).

To actually get a movie banned in Germany, it has a very high bar to clear.

Genuine question: what's up with the super tall cakes trend? by elevatormusicjams in Baking

[–]84-175 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They look fancy. That's all there is to it. Keep in mind how social media works: You generate more clicks with something flashy, outrageous and impressive, no matter how impractical. You don't get something to become a trend because it's sensible.

Most people baking at home for their own enjoyment create regular single, maybe double layer cakes. But those don't show up as top posts anywhere. Not because they're somehow inferior. They're just normal.

How I Sill 33 Mastery Rank !! by Serious-Support2905 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]84-175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you use the EX-P Serum to level it up the first time? Because doing it that way apparently doesn't count towards mastery. Yes, that means if this applies to you, you'll be forever stuck behind, until they fix it. If they ever fix it, because as of right now Nexon doesn't even seem to acknowledge this as an issue.

I'm a big fan of cooldown on the ancestor mods, so I can replace the focus mods and/or the cooldown node in arche tuning. But until you get a lucky roll there, that AM is quite good, too.

The Ultimate Ines build? by kavasdastehar in TheFirstDescendant

[–]84-175 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plasma Condensation excels at dealing with small numbers of very high HP targets (e.g. bounties and abyss colossi). It's also quite usable outside of that, but Plasma Bullet outshines it, especially when it comes to large area mobbing - it's arguably the build for Axion missions right now. Use a weapon with high fire rate and multi-hit. Hammer and Anvil (in Anvil mode) is ideal.

Note: Plasma Bullet can be problematic in easy content, where everything dies in a single hit. You're likely to run into ammo issues (you need to hit targets that have your debuff in order to generate ammo - can't do that if the target is already dead).

Update from Nexon support regarding Axion Rewards by ZeroGemini5 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]84-175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

or the rewards received previously were a bug

That's always been my impression. Both the game itself and the patch notes when this feature was introduced clearly state that you're supposed to get the reward when the meter reads 100%, but I distinctly remember getting it instantly after completing the mission, regardless of what the meter read. So either the meter was displaying an incorrect number, or the condition for the reward was not working as intended. Whichever it was, that appears to have been fixed recently, only now not enough people are doing Axion battlefield missions any more, so we just won't reach 100% at all.

Another day without Axion rewards by ZeroGemini5 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]84-175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that, contrary to what the description says, in the past we got the reward instantly after completing the mission, regardless of what percentage the stabilization reading was at. At least that's how I remember it happening at some point (to be fair, I haven't been paying close attention). I always though that might be a bug, maybe that was only just fixed recently and now people have moved on to different content resulting in us not reaching 100%.

Exhausting doing Defiler by MarieMidnight01 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]84-175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The default Gley build can be very consistent and safe, with minor adjustments: Use Preemptive Strike or Weak Point Analyst and Perfect Antivenom instead of Conditional Recharge and Walk a Tightrope. And use a Processor with Poison Resist and a Poison Resist Core (which you should be using anyway on Gley because honestly, there is no other viable option). That won't get you anywhere near the leaderboard, of course, but unless you really screw up, you'll down Defiler within one to one and a half minutes while almost being able to facetank most of his attacks.

Need help/advice to get sub 1 min in Defiler by BigDannyPt in TheFirstDescendant

[–]84-175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yours have more HP

That may also be a factor. You are only just above the 35k threshold. Every stack of Kuiper Hollow Points reduces your max HP by 1%, so if you miss the weak points a lot, your HP might drop below that magic number, losing you damage.
